My dad bought one of these new. I think the color was called glade green. Painted black top. No vinyl. 455 - 2 barrel. It did have the Royale upgraded interior, and a factory 8 track housed under the dash. Rode like a dream and that 455 was as smooth as silk. He kept it till 82 and traded it in.

I really did...this car is very similar to my dad’s 1970 Delta 88, which was the first car I ever drove on my own...it was a rolling hunk of steel that was great for cruising around on a Saturday night or going on a double date...I hope maybe one day to get another one.

The car I learned to drive was a 69 Olds 88 Custom 4 door hardtop with the 455 2 barrel carb engine. I see your custom is not a hardtop, apparently that was an additional option? I remember sitting at the dealer with my dad when he ordered the car. The dealer had a huge book that you could pick out a large variety of options, colors, etc. Something long gone when ordering a new vehicle.

    This is a 1969.
The 1970 had a different grill and the taillights had a horizon piece of chrome trim. Also the front license plate on the 1970 mounted on the passenger side instead of the center of the grill.
Gorgeous car though. My father had a 1970 4dr hardtop from 1970-1978 and put 270,000 miles on his.
This basic shape was the inspiration for the last Seville, CTS and the arts and science generation of Cadillacs in the current market including the CT6.

This is the 1970 Olds lineup.
There’s a great shot of the 4dr hardtop starting at .44 seconds.

270K? That's a lot. Most cars today can't even get that close.
Some automakers use old cues into new cars and I think that's cool. Other than that, thanks for the little correction and link!
