Happiness is just an emotion, we weren't supposed to feel one emotion but multiple if that makes sense.

Agreed. The human body has many emotions, the brain is the best drug dealer you just need to get to know it and how to use it. Joy means more than being happy.

    The Hedonistic Treadmill.
I think, though, an important point is that there are things that people physically, materially need - housing, clothes, food, etc - to have a stable enough base from which to even consider mere contentment. Contentment can easily come from having enough of what we need, but we first have to have those things. I have difficulty imagining someone who sleeps in shop doorways being able to find contentment by just abandoning any desire to sleep in their own bedroom.

we don't get to choose what we want. I had no hand in forming the set of desires that govern me. I wish I could "let go of wanting" but it strikes as something impossible.

It's good to aim for more, but don't forget to appreciate what you already have. Balancing ambition with gratitude is key.

Im with you until the other half of the video. You have said yourself that the success of mankind is due to this unhappiness and constant chasing after new horizons. Why then should we stop wanting? Content and this quiet happiness, which doesnt require anything, would be the end of everything beautiful about humanity and all the magnificent things we have thus far acomplished, there would be no more of these great things, art, philosophy and science, without striving for and wanting more. To me this being content, you speak about, is contemptible, actually. Happiness is a goal worthy of a pig or a dog, not a human being

Thank you for sharing your thoughts. I understand where you're coming from. The drive for innovation and progress has indeed propelled humanity forward in many remarkable ways. However, my point was more about finding a balance. While striving for more can lead to great achievements, it's also important to appreciate and find contentment in what we have.
