Don’t worry! I grew up with my father in a chair (from MS) and I reached adulthood intact and well adjusted!! Apart from being adept at helping with some things at an early age, I had a normal childhood!

SCI c6-c7 complete, went to propose to a girl I loved almost abstractly for over a decade (knew her a year before injury), when I approached to propose her, she rejected me, stressing various justifications such as "sex for me is important before marriage, "we have different beliefs, (drew the culture/religion card), "I love you more than anything as a friend, "It would be cruel for me to lose you as a friend, "I hope one day you wake up and realise it is all in your head." At the reception of her rejection, I felt shattered, almost useless, and in melancholic despair--I tried to move on, but felt the best remedy for me was accepting I am a monster. I could not live with this thought for long, and soon after I decided to live (I have not the courage for suicide), moved on. I tried to befriend her, and we did text for some time hence forth, but with time, it became too severe for me, and here I find no motif to ask about her. She had not texted me for about three months, we live in separate continents, and my respect to her remains (though I wish she was a bit more courageous and told me upfront she is not into a paralysed being). As of now, I believe I have moved on. -P.S. Congratulations on the baby.
