what about the opening scene when some tree-root is latching onto you at the beginning of the game inside your own house? Does it not lead to a death or something?

I generally don't like death animations in games of this genre because they're so bloody and gorey that I'm just plain disgusted. "I did not need nor want to see those intestines, nor that headless body become a kool-aid fountain, thanks for destroying my appetite and killing my mood."
But the way this game does it is both 'not disgusting' as well as artistic in how they portray it with just 2 or 3 colors.
