@phoneguy463 I just find Walpurgas transformation kind of creepy. How she may have been a innocent and lovely forest spirit who took care of her woodland and her worshippers and then after Ozzy came she turned into this Elise hunting, manipulative monstrosity, not unlike the demons. In that case Ozzy wielding a sledgehammer that knocked the sense out of her would have been more fitting than a bow ^.^ I also thought that this tapestry may have something to do with Holle's secret lover but the game really gives no clues about her good company. So I kind of gave up on it.

@@Rhentsi thank you for responding so quickly. you are welcome anytime. well, I kinda feel you about Holle's secret lover. the game is in fact extremely vague about that. however! there is one golden maiden you can encounter in a satanic replica of Elise's house. this very golden maiden is none other than Granny Holle. not only does she mention Elise's emerald brooch, she also mentions an affair "favored by god". well, I'd suggest that this means she had a male lover no one knew about. this affair turned sour when Holle couldn't become pregnant and bear a child of her own. I'd furtherly suggest she kept it a secret from him out of shame. and then Ozzy told her that she had to sacrifice him if she wanted a child so badly. oh well... looks like Holle wanted it really... BADLY...

@@Rhentsi oh, about the tapestry and Ozzy's bow: it might well be a metapher for him stealing a fragment of her soul, literally hurting Walpurga in the process. however, I don't believe Ozzy and Walpurga were lovers themself. I think Ozzy simply offered her something precious and powerful in exchange for her womb. of course she would sent him back to tracks. she's a fairy, not a "red-light-maiden" (if you get me draft...). material things have no value to her. but Ozzy knows only riches and currencies (like a typical aristocrat the he is...). her refusal didn't make him happy. so one thing lead to another...

Favored by the Lord himself kind of sounds like she was married which means their relationship would arguably not be unknown to others. Which makes it rather weird that no one ever talks about her husband. Also how would Holle even pull through with the deal? She would walk into the forest with her husband, sacrifice him, get Elise and walk back to Kieferberg like "Hey guys my husband just died in the forest but I found a baby there, craaaaaaaazy day right?". I'm pretty sure that's the fastest way to get burned on a stake as a witch o.o Given that there are quite a few parts of the game that seem rushed and unfinished I actually just believe they didn't have the time to flesh out both Holle's story and that of the witch Walpurga. I mean the witch is kind of the main antagonist for the first half of the game but if you play the canon end she just disappears after Wednesday for no reason. So at this point I would just conclude incomplete game design which seems reasonable given that the devs seemed to have a lot of delays thanks to corona.

@@Rhentsi I mostly go d'accord with you. however: yeah, the not-mentioning of Holle's husband is one big plot hole indeed. but that's why I believe that Holle may have had a secret lover or fiancé. but Holle is not the only mother figure with a omitted backstory: let's look at Rozenmarine's mother. she was burnt as a witch, despite having a baby. or should I say: because of her baby. at those times, you were burnt as a witch if you got pregnant without a lover, pregnant from adultery or when you murdered your husband after having a child with him. in the case of Rozenmarine's mother I'd dare say she sacrificed her husband after Ozzy made her wish come true and she was caught red-handed by the townspeoples. In Holle's case I dare stay true to my suspicion she kept her lover a secret.

I would say that's pretty much it. One could probably add that Sanni still died even though she tried to break the deal. You can actually find all three of these girls in the game but unfortunately they don't really say anything that adds to this scene.

@@Rhentsi what really messes me up is Elise. dang, she's dumb! the warnings and laments of the golden maidens are clear as day, but Elise is just like: "what are you chattering about?" if I didn't knew better, I'd say she didn't WANT to get the message.

@phoneguy4637 Well I wouldn't really call her stupid. In the end the demons, the witch and even Rozenmarine to a certain degree all did their best to mislead and confuse her, so her environment wasn't exactly supportive in guiding her towards the right decisions. After all we are talking about a 17 year old girl who has known nothing but poverty and abuse for most of her life, so I guess your take on "She didn't want to get the message" is the right call.

@@Rhentsi ok, to be fair: I admit that I was indeed taken aback by how ungrateful and ruff the townspeople were towards Elise. I think that's because she was kind of a foundling of suspicious origin to the peoples which made them prefer to avoid her. yet, some peoples like father Hans, Welma, Loreley, Odilie and especially Old Jochen really treated her like dirt. totally uncalled for. yeah, that would drag me down, too. however, there were nuff peoples who where also nice to Elise, like Gustav, Mechthild, Lisbeth and the kids.

@@Rhentsi by the way, Elise is 18. Rozenmarine is 17, Lebkuchen and Freya are 19. one thing, however, always bothered me from the beginning: if her life at Kieferberg was that miserable - why didn't she just move out???

Yeah, I was going to replay the game for the Golden Maidens secret but the Father Hans ending I had access to was so short I thought it probably won't be worth it, so I looked it up on youtube. This cutscene just tells what you already been told multiple times if you put the pieces together Having the Golden Maidens fight back would be a cool cutscene/ending

I would give it a 7 because it does have a nice story, interesting characters and a lot of beautiful artwork. Some parts of the story feel a bit unfinished or poorly thought through and a lot of people have complained about the game being too difficult or frustrating. However, in a recent patch the devs changed a lot of these elements so it's probably better now. If you haven't seen much of the game and think about buying it then I would say it's worth it.

I’m glad someone shares my sentiment. I feel like with how many plot points we had, the conclusion was a bit underwhelming when viewed by itself and not as a prequel. We don’t see Holle’s room (it’s just mentioned to contain an effigy in the max suspicion game over); no special ending for finding the golden girls; doing the extra work to get behind Father Hans’ schemes gets you a short bad end etc. Many of those could have been combined into some sort of friendship-ending where the golden girls fight back (as some mentioned they wanted) and Father Hans gets the blame for the witchcraft since he arguably caused the most damage to the town. I can only guess the creators didn’t want to give this kind of high-effort-perfect-happy-end ending when the ‘true’ ending had to be very negative to fit with pocket mirror. If they do make dlc I’d be happy though, one can dream (like adding at least a picture to the death you get for max suspicion and making it into an ending instead of ‘red screen then game over screen’).

I seem to remember it showing after you solve the puzzle with the sliding pieces on the wall. It basically ends up being an image of Elise's home. It was pretty hard and took me at least a half an hour or more

Perhaps in the other endings, but in the Rozenmarine ending? No, actually. In Pocket Mirror's bonus room for 'The Strange Boy', he actually states that-while he did try-he was actually unable to claim Elise's soul. "Too bad she wouldn't join me, I sure tried. I guess gold just wasn't her color." We know that Elise only gave Goldia the pocket mirror on her deathbed, meaning that she died while still under it's protection.

@@GamerJosh2611 In a way, that's even more tragic because she and Rozenmarine never got to see each other again, even as Golden Maidens... though I must say, their romance was so loaded with red flags that the odds of their finding a happy ending (Star-crossed) were minuscule... Even in Star-crossed, it takes three years for Rozenmarine to work out her issues and commit to a long-term relationship.

In Ozzy's extra room in Pocket Mirror he says he couldn't get her soul if I remember well.

Right at the beginning of Wednesday Witching Hour you need to collect all 3 stone tiles and use them to solve the sliding puzzle in the center. Afterwards you move north into the next area.

Also L00k I don't like it ether 😭 it's the only way for Elise to get everything she wants at once XD idk it's just a what if this happens? Pure speculation

It's said in the priest's notes that Walpurga was born a witch but was then baptized, that's why she was adopted by the church,she is said to be benevolent but i guess because a fragment of her soul was took from her, she's willing to do anything to be whole again?

I just beat it on switch too and got 6 of the 10 endings and i did notice the game didnt count a golden girl i found; i was supposed to be missing 3 but i ended up missing 4 ill try and see if it's possible for the game to save that you found all 25 on my next playthrough whether i decide to court Freya or Lebkuchen.

This makes me think that in the canon ending Freya did fulfill her dreams alone and became very recognized, that Fleta, Harpae and Lisette's dresses did exist in the real world and that Goldia has them

I also thought that the deer might be metaphor but I'm not certain this is the case. Father Hans finds out that the witch Walpurga is unable to create life. In ending #10 Walpurga told Elise that she endlessly tried to create life the way Ozzy did, using her fertile soil (but presumably failed). On Monday witching hour, when you go to collect the gift basket you can find a lot of dead deers scattered across the grove with their entrails rippped out. I would take this as an implication that there was indeed a physical vessel (maybe a deer maybe something else) that has had their entrails used in combination with Walpurga's soil to create Elise's body and Walpurga tried to replicate that herself by slaying animals that ventured into her woodland to experiment on them. So I wonder, what if the deer was the "good company"? I don't recall anyone saying the good company has to be a human, just the object of one's greatest affection which could be the case with an animal.

@@Rhentsi It is true that there is no mentioned restriction on who the good company is supposed to be, but it is curious that Holle mentions "a union that was favored by the lord himself" and that her inability to bear a child "drove a wedge between them", so she "sacrificed her beloved". I very much doubt that could be said about a deer of all things and the "my soulmate would've wanted me to do it" from Holle also makes me believe that it was a human she sacrificed, especially since Holle was raising Elise alone... I agree that perhaps the dead deers are results of Walpurga trying to recreate what Ozzy did on her fertile soil, seems very possible with how angry she is about being "used". Thinking back on Holle's good company, I feel like it might be somehow connected to the tapestry in the real world? The one that changes over time. It starts with a woman that is approached by a hunter for/with a ring(?), and when she turns into a unicorn the hunter hunts her, resulting in her dying as human, and at the end there's only an eaten apple left. It might be an allusion to the good company sacrifice as a whole, winning their affection only to reduce them to a meal for Ozzy at the very end (hence the eaten apple). But it does make me think of a somewhat far fetched theory that Holle's soulmate was a were-deer or something, haha (also there's something about that unicorn and deer both sitting under a tree, hmm).

"A union that was favored by the lord himself" might be a reference to Holle initially praying to god for divine intervention so that she may be granted a child. As the Bible states in Genesis 1:28: "Be fruitful and multiply", hence God is in favor of her bearing children (yea I actually googled that). But exactly the sentence "this is what my soulmate would've wanted me to do" is such a weird wording. The phrase "would have" implies that whoever was sacrificed wasn't able to voice agreement or disagreement, meaning Holle could only guess whether they "would've" agreed, which would only really make sense with an animal that can't talk. Also Elise mentions she wasn't allowed to house pets as Holle was allergic. This either means everything I said is wrong or Holle felt guilty about what she had done and didn't want a pet that reminded her of her sacrifice. The tapestry that you mention is an interesting lead but I honestly thought that would be more connected to Ozzy and perhaps Walpurga? The hunter kind of reminds me of Ozzy with the hair covering his eyes and the hat and Walpurga has shown that she can shape her form into different humans, so a unicorn doesn't seem too far fetched. But admittedly I'm kind of at my wits end here as I don't recall anyone ever mentioning anything about Holle having a husband/girlfriend/soulmate of sorts and them being a were-deer does sound kind of...unique o.o If you figure it out let me know, as I would like to make a lore video and this part here is giving me quite a headache.

@@Rhentsi haha, the were-deer thing is more of a crack-theory than anything. But not that outlandish when you consider that Walpurga and Ozzy with his vassals are a Thing in the world of LGTS. Honestly, the tapestry thing itself is pretty vague. The way I think its story goes is that the hunter offers the white lady a ring (which is quite easy to interpret as a marriage proposal or some kind of other union), the lady rejects, I think? At first I thought it was the ring offered by the hunter we see on her neck as a unicorn, but looking more closely its some sort of pendant that can be seen on her human form too. Later the hunter hunts her (presumably for her rejection?) and she gets replaced by an eaten apple. It's interesting to consider in your Ozzy and Walpurga theory because it could mean that Ozzy first asked for Walpurga's permission, but upon her refusal used her grove anyway...? Again It is very vague. (Also, as I was writing this, although the current LGTS wiki is very sparse it is interesting that her wiki page lists Walpurga's hair colour as white, while it is often just the go-to for elderly characters, it is an interesting similarity between the unicorn lady and Walpurga, just like the hunter's similarity with Ozzy) (Even more, I looked up Walpurga appearing before Elise for the first time scene, and isn't it weird that in order to get to Ozzy one needs to present three gifts that are carried in the basket ('A womb, carrier of life - your basket is to hold all that is sacred") provided by Walpurga? One golden maiden specifically mentions that many of other gold girls are from Kieferberg ("Our beloved Kieferberg"), that would suggest that Walpurga's forest is a well established way to Ozzy's domain. That suggests some sort of long cooperation between her and Ozzy. But who knows, for all we know Ozzy is a dirty freeloader that doesn't pay rent and Walpurga is just pissed about him being able to do the one thing she can't. Just theorizing ¯\_(ツ)_/¯)

I thought with that it was implied Holle sacrificed her husband in order to get a child. They were soulmates favored by the Lord, but Holle not being able to bear a kid was straining the relationship. Later, when Elise gets the basket and Walpurga shows up again, she was talking about reuniting with Elise so she could "bear life in her womb once more." I think what happened is that Ozzy took some of Walpurga's power in making Elise, weakening the witch
