Honestly I loved this a lot, despite the long waits. It was such a unique experience to feel all those G-Forces while in VR. When you're riding it its much more seamless than it looks in this video, and you don't notice the meh graphics. I wish Universal or Disney would pick up this concept but pull it off better from scratch, instead of just adapting an old ride with it.
I think this needs some spoken dialogue and better graphics; having a pixelated Superman wordlessly toss you and an enormous gerbil ball around an empty city for two and a half minutes is slightly unsettling.

I don't live to far from this park and been in this when it first open it a good ride but after you been on it a few times it not really that great after it a good coaster but it not really nothing special tho

+SpaghettiPLOP actually, you can only see the virtual part if you are 13+, so they are pre teens that are able to watch pg13 which has that. Also, if you are bothered by it you can chose to ride without the headset.

Firstly, VR is a surprisingly immersive sensation, and you really have to try it to believe it. For instance, I was at an event and they had demos of another VR system, the HTC Vive; the guy guiding me had me walk up to a cliff and I felt more than a bit scared to fall into it, even though I knew I was on solid ground. Got the nostalgia/vertigo and all.
In the case of Superman, I actually did the ride, few times without VR and then once with it. I didn't think it'd be good, but I actually have to say, it beats the hell out of some dark rides that try to emulate the effect. It's a good experience. Now, I wouldn't say I believed in things flying at me, because 3D gimmicks always feel cheap. But the "falling" and "pulling" effects were so incredibly well-synced with the ride that I got an actual thrill about it all. It's worth a shot if you're going on anyway.
The worst I can say is that it holds up the line... Egh. Waits are always stupidly long now.

the VR is optional but the non-VR line is longer because they have to wait 10 minutes to have the VR line get ready every time a new car rolls in

lame keep the ride real life. turn the fire back on. and put the sound effects back. the whole thrill of the ride is seeing the impending turns and thrill, cover your head and you ruin the whole feeling of being on the ride.

I love this coaster. I would love it if they still gave you the option of riding it with the virtual reality feature; but it’s great as it is.
This is stupid...... Who wants to look at a cartoon while riding a rollercoaster!? Plus it makes the lines WAY to long. At least add a no VR que if your are not gonna get rid of the VR.
well i thought it would be good so i went worst experience with the vr looked cool for the first part but the rest was disappointing and no the mention it take over 2 hr to get on

+MT BREACH ! Same expect that happened to me on the one at SFA. I waited out in 100 degree whether with no shade and it took 20 minutes for the line to move once only to have my vr headset not work.

Blender can be used for high quality animations if you know how to use it. Six Flags clearly doesn't.

It’s on a phone. Phone’s can’t exactly run disney-level CGI. They have to be able to map it to your position and allow rotation.
@@edward1838 yeah they litterly have phones in everyone’s be head gear I guess it gives all of the riders the same experience bc it’s all synced to one computer or something but honestly if you road this ride it was fucking fun with or with out the headgear I personally went with the vr

I went on it a week ago (no virtual reality) and it's a lot faster then it seemed in the video. It feels like your face is being ripped off, and the view going up the first hill is beautiful. I would totally recommend it.
It looks less thrilling looking at it here but on the ride it's so much better because of the actual rollecoaster. I rode it with no vr and vr and I liked both.

To be honest, I don't think the idea of VR is that bad, but it does make the lines longer, and there's only one row to go on if you want to ride the ride without VR. But not every big coaster needs it, and most coasters are perfectly fine the way they are.
looks lame while watching the youtube video but I can tell you it feels amazing while actually ridding it. and to everyone complaining about the graphics, go make a better 3d simulation and then give it to six flags

Seriously Six Flags, just get rid of it. Nobody wants VR on a coaster. Now every single time I go, am I going to have to deal with a 2 hour line to ride my favorite coaster, when I should be waiting 20-30 minutes? No. Look at your comments. I saw 3 that liked VR. Everyone else was talking about how they hate it, and I have to agree. I don't understand why you need VR to make a coaster cool. You dont. Bizzaro was an amazing ride with theming and that amazing audio. Now we get this lazy animation that nobody enjoys, slapped onto our face. You could argue that you don't have to use VR, but that doesn't stop the long lines. I mean, seriously? Look far enough in the comments and you'll see there was a 20 minute dispatch. 20 MINUTES! I know that you needed to add something, but VR is NOT the way to go. Nobody likes it. Me and all the other enthusiasts would be thrilled if you would remove it from Six Flags parks. I mean, think about all the people that come from across the country to ride these things, and have to wait in a 2 hour line TWICE to see if it's better with VR or not. It's not fun. Speaking of not fun, whats the point of riding a coaster of you CAN'T SEE THE COASTER. And also, there are a lot of people that AGAIN - Wait in a 2 hour line - Only for their VR to not work. It's stupid. Take this as a request from EVERYONE.

Just go before 3pm. I rode it 3x in a little over an hour today.
If nobody wanted VR on a coaster than the lines wouldn't be 4 times as long now than when the VR wasn't present. That stat alone proves that there are a lot of people who want the VR. The point of the coaster is high speed motion, the point of the VR is so it looks like you are high up in the sky among the tall buildings of the city with no rails and because you can't see the coaster, if you have memorized the direction of the ride, then you don't know where you are turning next, which makes it even more thrilling.
It was alright but I didn't hear any sound or music for some reason, if your scared of heights definitely try the vr, it gives you a sleight feeling of security. Since I tried Bizzaro(which was this ride before) I felt inclined to try the vr but really everyone should enjoy the coaster without vr

So I tried this in July and here are my thoughts:
The concept is awesome, and I love you're traveling through metropolis. But VR makes the line much longer than it already is, it takes forever to calibrate, on those airtime hills if you don't hold onto it then it'll fall off, and the worst part is that it makes you dizzy for the rest of the day. Well, at least from my experience.
And it’s just boring

Finally got to experience Superman VR. Wasn't impressed thought it was gimmicky and took away from an amazing coaster. It's way better without. Imo you should of kept it Bizzaro.

When you have one of the best coasters in the world, but you aren't satisfied with the fact that it just misses the no.1 spot, so you act like all annoying and ruin it for everyone by putting VR on it

You're 100% wrong. The line is not shorter, now you should expect lines upwards of one hour.

What do you mean it doesn't work? I rode today and it overheated before the ride started, and I asked for a new one. It does slow down a little more, but it's worth it. They only let you use them at 1pm to 9pm, I got in line before one, so when I got to the top, I can use them, without a slow line
+Bri The Dino it makes the line atrociously long. There have been certain days where I go and a normal 30 minute wait can top and hour and a half. For something that hardly adds anything to the experience, and frankly takes away the greatness of the coaster, it isn't worth it at all

to be honest, I'd rather have a virtual reality coaster of some superhero with some action inside the VR like some fighting and shit and some loops some corkscrews and all of that good shit that makes rollercoasters interesting, not something like this where you're just being pulled to safety with one hill and no bumps (idek what to all those mini hills that just lift you into the air :P)
There is nothing wrong with the VR, it is a cool experience.
But the time sitting in the station is greatly increased because of the extra time needed securing headsets. My first ride, the animation did not start and I looked at my torso the whole ride. Second ride a staff took my headset because it overheated but they never gave me another one.
Using smartphones to manage the whole system was a terrible choice and on a 90 degree day, almost everyone's headset overheated.

Can someone who has went to both the Bizarro with no VR and the Superman with VR tell me which one is better by experience
I went when It was Bizarro with no VR and I rode Superman today with the VR. Bizarro is the same as Superman, just painted different with a different cart. The Bizarro one had speakers for each person, when I went on it played Eminem. Now it doesnt, but the speakers are on the track instead playing the Superman theme song. Now, the VR is AMAZING! You cant tell when the picture is, or when you're turning. So it's pretty suprising. Superman is the best at night because there's alot of lights and mist. Also the hours for the VR is from 1pm to 9pm. So i'd use the VR before dark so you can ride without it at dark:) Honestly I love them both, but it's really cool to ride at least once with the VR.

I rode the Superman a bunch of times before it was ever called the Bizarro. Then I rode it after the paint job change and the addition of the speakers. The speakers didn't add anything to the ride but the neon lights were a cool addition at night. 15 years after it was first opened the Ride Of Steel is still one of the best overall coaster rides out there. The VR is a total waste of money and spoils a near perfect coaster in my opinion. If I want to ride a motion video ride I'd rather ride the MOM at Jordan's Furniture. Shorter line and better video. Six Flags would've been better off just building a new stationary 3d motion ride and incorporating VR headsets into that. That way they could've not made a great coaster take longer to get on for the people who appreciate coasters for the experience of a coaster and don't want the added line and headache that comes with useless tech.

This Superman one looks shitty. We have one at the Great Escape by where I live, and honestly it's so much damn fun with the VR headsets. On the rollercoaster here you can choose whether you want to wear it or not and I think it's pretty reasonable. I only wish they would have chosen literally any other coaster in the park, because the one they chose was probably the most violent one here so it kinda hurt. But it was still loads of fun, nonetheless.
the line for it is terrible and when i went they were putting like 5 people to a coaster train or leaving rows empty for no reason

Don't be such buzzkills. The only thing that sucks is the weak roller coaster, the Superman in San Antonio blows this one away! The VR is a cool addition for those who like it, if you wanna cry about it go ride the kiddie coaster or make something better yourself.
You obviously have never ridden it. This was the hands down fan favorite coaster in New England, and now it is being trashed by this due to doubled wait times and the VR not even working half the time. And no, superman in San Antonio statistically does not blow this one away, as this one has been ranked the number 2 roller coaster in the world 5 times. But since it has not been ranked number 1 since 2009, they changed it back to superman to try to make it number 1 again. But this is destroying the coaster. So yeah, people are not going to be very happy when their favorite coaster is trashed by gimmicks.
