    Wow! "Nothing beats the feeling of a Shimano Brake Lever!" That phrase is such a blast from my past BMXing in the 80s and first getting into modifying my bike. That first feel of installing a Shimano break was just the most amazing thing since the first riding of the Bike or maybe more so.

    New bike looks sweet! Good catch on the DOT fluid mistake. I'd recommend taking the wheel off and putting a bleed block in the caliper. You can't bleed a brake properly if the pistons can move in the caliper.

    I have a disc on my BMX and it's been nice so far. I think my next BMX will be disc-only with no bosses for v-brakes.
    I know a few guys who run xtr. I actually run a Saint (I know - way overkill) but it has gold accents which match the rest of my bike. Weight penalty isn't too bad either.

    • @jaden3393
      @jaden3393 2 года назад

      Technically almost all brake fluid will work. I used to run baby oil and car brake fluid (don't really do this) this worked ,but wasn't worth the risk. I sold that bike so I dont know what happened to them. Just don't take the risk and go to your local bike shop. Baby Oil is only if you can't get your hands on it.

    • @nicoofner85
      @nicoofner85 2 года назад

      I would only use the right stuff, on Shimano brakes that is their own mineral oil. Magura mineral oil or trickstuff mineral oil does also work. Using other brake fluids does not work because it damages the seals inside these brakes, they are completely ruined if you use dot brake fluid

    The lever feel is sooooooooo smooth but crazy overkill for bmx, a little bit like carbon fiber frames haha.

    • @barrynobles95
      @barrynobles95  2 года назад

      Carbon frame is not over kill at all. That’s like comparing a nascar to an F1 car. It’s all about the best performance and finding every 1% gain that better performance. A v-brake will wear down a carbon rim so using disc brakes gives a carbon rim a much longer life

    • @SLAYERR83
      @SLAYERR83 2 года назад

      @@barrynobles95 I was only joking about the carbon fiber frame being overkill because I can't afford one. If I ran carbon rims I would run a disc set up for sure as those rims are expensive too.

  • @heavylifter9258

    I want to go disk on my sons next set of wheels, my concern is I’m doing everything I can to keep weight down and a disk set up looks chunky and adding weight for small gains, but the cool factor does stand out 🤔, and that is most important to kids (and me)😆
