  • I explain what i had to do to modify the standard HQ demister vent ducts and connect to Vintage Air A/C pipework.
looks daunting butvreally wasnt that hard. The hard part is finding quality standard parts to use. plus 2nd hand old school parts are a bloody rip off.

Hey Jim, is that the style with the evaporative unit that has the vents built in that hangs under the dash?

@@SullysRodskustoms. All H series holdens with factory AC have the same unit WB statesman have minor differences how it operates, the cooling AC unit and heating unit are together on the firewall in engine bay with the fan poking through to the cabin, receiver drier in front in the engine bay, they work very well

what outer door seals are u using? i bought better auto rubber ones and they don't even touch the glass so when u wash it the water goes down in the door.

I think that is more about your glass position, either not far enough up to push under the seal or not adjusted out towards the door skin to touch the seal. These ones were from a rare spares full rubber kit.

Did you spin the unit around ? How are you going to hang vent pipe

Are you talking about the a/c evaporator under the dash? If so, yes i spun it around. My only mistake was i didnt weld mounting brackets inside my firewall before the car was painted. Now the awesome smoothed firewall has 2 stainless screws through it. Lol im a dumb ass. I was going to experiment with epoxy to hold the brackets inside the firewall like the stuff used to glue on panels on new cars. In hindsight I probably should have because if it worked i wouldn't have had to use the drill.
The drain hose is just visible from the passenger seat but it still looks ok i think.
Ill get some footage of it for you when i work on it next in a week or two.

Yeh, I've had a few with manual racks. Good arm work out when the car is not moving.
Best thing about an old hq is when the air vents wear out and spin by themselves as the air blows through them.
