To me as a humble viewer, I'd say the task of actually watching the films needs to be the priority, and the daunting task of releasing videos in a particular format can be relaxed. You want to enjoy the process, not see it as a chore. Maybe you could just talk briefly about some of your highlights that month instead of painstakingly delving into each film. I wouldn't say that's half arsed, it's just a realignment of your expectations... For yourself! 😅

Well I still think I brush past the films without going into too much depth (for me, anyway...), it's just the fact there's 16 to talk about in each video haha.

Just watch the films, enjoy, savour them, worry about making videos after... we'll still be here!

Well that is *essentially* what I have been doing, watching the 16 films, and then focusing on the video but it's just... the volume of stuff. Good problem to have though, as I say.

Shoah is a hell of an experience. Need a few days off to recover after that one.

I agree with the other comments. I think that the most important thing in a challenge like that is that you enjoy the process of watching the films first. Then, of course videos like the first one you did are like a deluxe treatment for the fans, they are really beautiful and immersive, but I understand that they are also exhausting to make. So I think that for us it would be nice also to have some little video every month in which you simply talk about the films, without showing clips, maybe showing the disc, the booklet, or some thing like these. It would be really good also in this way! But as a suggestion, don't put too much effort in this process, or tthe risk is that this challenge to watch all these movies (that is beautiful but challenging in its own) could became really overwhelming and too stressful.

You can stick to an admirable Ultimatum by watching half in 2024, half in 2025. You'll do better for it and so will we. It's not easy watching your videos if you're stressed.

This would be extra work, but it would be cool to see a list of the titles so we could follow your progress. Titles you saw before the challenge coloured one way. Then a different colour for ones you watch during the challenge. Presumably a google docs so people could view it. And maybe bring on at screen at the end of the videos

I like this idea a lot I just can't visualise how I would do it exactly. I'll definitely think about this, thanks.

I watched the first video you uploaded and love the concept, I feel with 16 movies a month you are force feeding yourself and not having enough time to digest and follow up wiil seem to be a chore and overwhelming.... ENJOY the process and PLEASE continue the series but dont worry too much about trying to rush through 16 movies. Try 8 movies a month, if you manage more than 8 good but i think this will give you enough time to concentrate on giving your afterthoughts etc
    Whats the rush.

Don't need the clips, just want to hear your thoughts!...Don't bother with the edit that much, just turn on the camera and talk, raw is gold!🙂

Yeah, like I said, I know no one cares about the clips, it's definitely a me problem haha. I love adding them but... time.

Instead of clips how about using screen grabs it would save the ripping of the discs the considerably cut down on the editing time.

As I say, I've set the precedent now for clips, and I like that precedent haha. But stills are definitely the smarter idea, though I'd still rip discs for that, and do most of the time if I need images from a film. I've grown to hate trawling the internet for decent quality images from films, it's such a crap shoot even when you search by high quality on Google.

Don't put to much pressure on yourself mate, those movies will always be there, as will youtube.
I mean 8hrs is a crazy run time so good on you for doing that in one sitting.
    Cheers from a new subscriber.

Maybe you could record a short first impressions video after every film you watch, just 5-10 minutes of you talking, no clips or anything. Then join them together at the end of each month, and if you still feel like doing proper deep dive videos by the time you're done with the whole challenge, you could do them next year or whenever it's convenient for you. Otherwise I fear you're going to burn yourself out badly, perhaps even to the point where watching those films will become a chore, and nobody would really want that. But if you still want to persist doing things your way... I call dibs on your Naruse and Mizoguchi sets ^_^

I dibbed the Mizoguchi way long time ago. You're too late👹

With the exception of the Buster Keaton shorts collection, I actually don't have any MoC DVD releases!

@@RazorwireReviews Oh, interesting. I think I don't have many, maybe 10 or so. I really liked those larger booklets.
