The very 1st and only time I heard about them was on Jackie Chan Adventures cartoon for the early 2000's. But in there, there was only 1 woman and that was He Xiangu.
Nice video. Could you tell the story of Chenxiang and the Magic Lotus Lantern? He’s the son of Erlang Shen’s sister and he trained with Sun Wukong in order to fight Erlang and free his mother from the Mountain. Erlang’s backstory is similar too, but that’s just one of his tales.
All the eastern religions Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism, Confucianism, Shintoism, and Shamanism. Are all basically just revised versions of each other like Islam and Christianity that’s why, they’re like a family line, with Hinduism as the oldest followed by Buddhism
From what I can tell this isn't a coincidence, the 8 immortals from the show are based on them to the point where their signature items are also based on the actual legend.
Jackie Chan Adventures used a lot of Chinese mythology in their series and given the fact that the items used to banish the demons were the signature items (ie lotus blossom which banished the moon demon and the drum which banished the mountain demon) i also would confidently say yes to your question as well
We research our videos - believe it or not - and most mythologies and legends have different versions. Please feel free to contribute with your knowledge.😉👍
You are the best mythology guy(when you post real mythology) but the only complaint I got is I don’t see a Persian mythology or Indo-European mythology. At least I don’t see them on your playlist. You gonna do Indo-European and Persian mythologies, everyone else’s videos is just so boring. You gonna do it for the world.
Not really for me. I’ll be done watching the boring videos by the time you make the good one... but I already watch your videos even when I know what your talking about.... because your videos are short... good and short perfect for learning.
Thank you for the information on Chinese Mythology
The immortals who defeated the eight demon sorcerers

They must get the quotes right. It wasn't that much important in early 2000s.
Can you do Arthurian legend next?
So happy to see more videos on Chinese mythology. I'm trying to look into it more but it's kind of hard to find sometimes.
😃👍👏 Wow. Now that was totally awesome story of The Legend of the Eight Immortals in Chinese Mythology history. This is fantastic alright!

Found a box of 8 watercolor silk paintings at a thrift store translated and found out it said "collection of eight immortals"
Hail to the Eight Immortals!
Am i the only one who thinks these are very similar to the Hindu Gods
Dude, i first thought Buddha was a form of Hindu.

Wonder if they were use for Jackie Chan’s Demon Sorcerer Arc?

Chinese names pronunciation in this video is surprisingly not bad, not atrocious like other RUclipsrs' videos
Your Chinese accent is surprisingly 😂good
8 Immortals are 7 Gods and 1 Goddess, not 6 Gods and 2 Goddesses. At least he spelled their names quite good, well
More accurately 6.5 god and 1.5 goddess. Don’t forget the first sexually fluid lgbtq immortal Lan Chai He.
What about Saint Germain
ChatGPT got most of the stories wrong......

are these immortals the same as the 8 drunken immortals or were they just based off them?
Surely was a party after fighting.
yes
The Immortals and The Eternals 😮😮😮
Now go watch “the eight hilarious gods (1993)” lol. There’s a movie made about the mythology.
Dude! Use this in comics!
Bruh is that the same dragon Sun wukong killed later 😂😂😂
Everybody becomin immortal in these parts ig

And also fairies come from nowhere... Not any mythology is an origin for fairies... just thought the fairy thing would bug you.

Too many immortals
Not 8 they are 10 immortals....they are scattered around Asia and Europe...🌍🌏
There’s actually a 9th. In the manga Ragnarok ;)

But in myth, they are immortalized as immortals.
