- We're back for a final time this season at Davie McPhail's tying desk, this time tying McPhail's All-Rounder. Tied on our Short Shank Special hook, it has a wide gape for increasing your hookup rate. This can be tied with or without legs, depending on what you're trying to imitate with it and what body of water you're on.

Mr McPhail . Have watched your RUclips videos over many years and I have to say they are getting better, Easy to follow and first-class tying instructions. Though there are many very good tyers on RUclips, nobody comes close to this genius. The 'All Rounder' is a gem and will give it a go. Thanks Davie for all the hard work putting it all together. I think it's very much appreciated by all.
An absolute master. Love watching him tie. A very great teacher. If he hasn't wrote a book, he should. Thanks for sharing.
I occasionally need a Scottish accent translator, but I always love a McPhail video. He was the first person I ever subscribed to.
Got a lot of confidence in this fly. First time I used it on a local stillwater several fish came back for another go after I’d pricked them, which is unusual. Worked well in the river too.
Thanks for the instruction, I really enjoy your videos and find them very informative.
Wonderful fly; great instruction ; thank you

Dry or wet or both - aka all rounder? Silicone to make it float, weight to sink it?
thanks
Another fantastic video! Curious, Do you find the cdc stem stiffens the wing?
Quick question Davies mate what can I use instead of a cdc feather thanks in advance all the very best tightlines.
