I didnt realize how ahead of the time this game was until i watched this video. how people online act toward each other within and out of game contact and the name Bob being a meme for like a year. Also, I just got last code on steam and i wanted to remember the lore so this video is fire my guy. thank you
Oh yeah, reading the news and forums in game really shows how much the world is impacted and built around the internet. Also reminds me of how the net used to be back in the early 2000s
As someone who is playing last recode for the first time this series of videos has been very helpful. I did watch the terminal disc but this really does open up everything not included in it.
This game is such a product of its time and yet years ahead. I've been running TTRPG games based off this game since it came out (where the players are the characters and are in a game world). Thanks for the breakdown! It's great to just refresh once in a while.

Your step-by-step explanation works out quite well here and I am curious to see how you tie it into other parts of the series. After all, //Liminality and //SIGN are entwined so deeply into the games. (left the same comment on your thread). I further appreciate the extra little touches, like using the Liminality ?poster? and chopping out the small bits of texts from Gardenia's fan club to show how many there were instead of just going to the thread and quickly scanning through them.
I played on a PS2 emulator, I would have played it on the original hardware but I forgot to bring my controllers when I moved. Plus I think the emulator works better for the visuals :P
I still need to replay GU, I haven't played it since it first came out so I don't recall the combat system, but yes on a remake with a different combat system
@@HardModeActivated Last Recode makes it simpler to get access to, whilst also adding the new stuff if you're interested in ending the GU era continuity
Yeah I have the games I just needed a dot hack break since I went heavily into it for the first series so I want to get through some backlog games to also make videos about.

It's on an emulator, I played it originally on PS2 back in the day but used an emulator for the capture footage

That's a good question, I couldn't find any sources if the creator took inspiration from .hack but that may or may not be the case.
Loosely inspired, although SAO started out as an online novel during the early 2000s.
Man it would awesome to have a remake of the kite saga with GUs combat.
