Jayda InStitches one thing i find to be one of the most useful items in my tools is embroidery bobbins (the plastic ones). When getting to the point i need to ball up a partial skein i use these to write on sticky dots or even post it notes all the yarn id info i might need later should i decide i want more of that yarn or to just know wt of yarn and fiber when doing scrap projects. I can honestly say this has been a true game changer for me when having to try to find discontinued yarns. I figure that i will use this for yarn swaps between friends and myself on my yarn crafters for charity page on fb for charity projects. They are simple to attatch by running the tail of the ball theough and then use the slit to anchor the yarn tail or use a safety pin to attach the bobbin to the ball. Happy crafting all. Thank you j
Jayda for all your time. 😃

I've shown him once, but he is currently visiting Virginia from Puerto Rico for a week only. He will be watching your videos. We'll be practicing a little each day until he leaves on Saturday. I'm so excited.

@@cassidy3294 That's good. Yeah just make sure you count your stitches. Otherwise it's not going to come out the way it supposed to be. And look on the yarn instructions it tells you what size crochet hook to use. When people on you tube is making something they tell you what size hooks to use. That way just make sure you have the right hook size as the yarn.

I taught my self with the help of Utube . I am disabled and I was struggling but I was bored. Now I have come up with a pattern for a cot sized quilt using Bernat baby wool and now I've found your star and moon pillows I will be making up sets for Christmas gifts. Thanks jayda I purchased an expensive set and have added a few really big sizes. I think beginners just need a cheap settl start but I think investing in a good set with rubber handles . Xo

I love giving gifts but it's not cheap to crochet it cost me $60 australian for one cot blanket . Now as much as I love giving I simply can't afford to so I am going to sell them to the people I know that want them . It's funny crochet seems old hat to our youth but so far my son and his friends having babies all, love this wool so i am helping them out really. Anyway thanks so much I do love your channel xoxoxo

Hi, Jayda ! I am watching this in Oct. 2019. I taught myself to crochet in July 1971 (a year into marriage). I bought a size 1 steel hook & a ball of crochet thread to learn on...nope, not the larger aluminum hooks & not yarn. I find G & H are the hooks I used most often for yarn. I also use steel hooks because I crochet w/crochet thread. I didn't use place markers until this year !!!! I find they are very , VERY helpful when creating a long starting chain. It is SO easy to lose count....but if you put a place marker every (let's say) 20 chains, then it's easy to re-count , much quicker & takes out the frustration & possibly dirty looks shot at the person who dared to speak while you were counting ! LOL And oh, keeping a journal of projects.....I haven't & regret that so much. I have always taken pictures...but I wish (oh how I wish) I'd always written down what I made, the yarn I used, what size hook, what colors, what pattern & what magazine the pattern was in or what You Tube channel, etc.

I loved this! I did a variation of this for my two daughters. The only addition I'd make is an inexpensive reusable shopping bag/tote. You can find these all over for about a dollar in various patterns/designs, and the often have a small pocket to store all the hooks, scissors, needles, tape measure, etc.

My first time seeing this video. I've offered crochet lessons and thought of compiling starter kits like this. I would include H, I, and J hooks, plastic stitch markers that close like safety pins (which you can get in volume for very little money), and cotton yarn, and I would use a wash cloth pattern to teach single, half double, and double crochet. Alternately, an acrylic worsted weight yarn and a scarf pattern with different stitches. (Hmmm.....must write up some scarf ideas into an actual pattern......) For scissors, blunt-nosed craft scissors serve me just fine to this day.

I love the Boye Hooks, also Clover brand hooks with the soft handles. When I print a pattern, I find putting them in a plastic sheet protector with holes on the edges, keeps them neat and clean. Then I'll keep them neatly in a 3-ring binder. Always need a cute pair of scissors, too! I like a fun bag to keep my projects in. Easy for traveling, so a zipped pocket is a must, keeps all in it's place. Thank you, for your fun videos!

Thank you for sharing Jayda! My daughter is about to turn 8 and we have practiced the chain stitch for what seems like forever but I have been unsure of what to have her do next. I will definitely have her do a granny square next, it is the perfect next step and is one of the first things I learned from you years ago. Also I think that making her own crochet set would be a perfect gift next month for her birthday considering she always uses my stuff ;)
Thank you again and keep crafting!

Hi Jennifer, I think having her own tools will make her feel really special (and like she's graduated to something a little more fitting of her age ;) Have fun putting together the kit!

I'm teaching my nieces to crochet, and they pass the info to groups at their church!! I gave them lots of plastic hooks and mini balls of yarn (DYI) from Walmart.

Nice video Jayda! I would also recommend writing in the first page of the journal for them a list of websites or videos for them to look at and watch. Sites that explain basic crochet terms and a beginner's guide along with something like Ravelry to ooh and ahh at. As far videos, give them crochet channels and beginner videos. Tell them you emailed them links or share links on RUclips that teach them how to chain, single crochet, double crochet, etc. Have a good day!
