The translator messed up, gave Mike the wrong price and couldn't fully undo it because Mike wouldn't let him explain. What's more, it's not like a bird is a bird - black birds are extinct in the US and Mike knew that perfectly well and that's why he wanted these ones. Mike's behavior was also offensive and inappropriate at many points. What's more, he probably posted the video on the internet without the owner's consent and unlike the US, in Poland there is a law prohibiting sharing an image without consent. I just checked the owner's website

When you hire a translator whose knowledge of the visiting party's language is rudimentary - especially on a topic he is not fluent in like birds and breeding - miscommunication ensues. And this is why folks it is imperative that when you hire translators they must be completely fluent in both languages at a high level. When you hire a translator whose knowledge of the visiting party's language is rudimentary - especially on a topic he is not fluent in like birds and breeding - miscommunication ensues. Does anyone remember the movie "Lost in Translation" where the person gives a lengthy response in Japanese and the translator barely says anything to Bill Murray despite him quizzing if there was more to be said? That obviously happened here and both men - the seller and Mike - come away short or with nothing.

Mam mieszane uczucia. Z jednej strony to mógł być błąd w tłumaczeniu rozmowy, albo niedopowiedzenie, a z drugiej strony mogła być przycinka.
Tak jak z samochodami - pytasz kogoś, czy fura jest sprawna, słyszysz 'tak, tak - może Pan przyjeżdżać', a na miejscu wrak.
Nie wiadomo też, kto pośredniczył w rozmowie, bo Mike zwraca się do kogoś innego niż tłumacz z pytaniem "mówiłeś, że czarne?'. Więc albo ten gość gadał (co byłoby głupie, bo sprzedawca pewnie angielskiego nie zna), albo przekazał informację tłumaczowi. Jeżeli przekazał, to pewnie tłumacz dał ciała, bo inaczej sam by interweniował w stylu 'przecież pytałem o czarnego i powiedział Pan...'.

if i were the seller and saw Mike Tyson on polish countryside i would say 100$ for piece :P this guy was extremly honest and even 25zł for one bird its very cheap, this guy got to feed them, take care of them, catch, pack, and so on, so that price is not crucial in even 1%. Moreover i think taht price may be different beacause some colors are more rare than others or maybe grandpa wanted to earn some change. Mike did it wrong
