Excellent work. I can only imagine how much work went into making this. Thank you for taking the time to do something so awesome and share it with everyone
The potential of the Boost Ball is so amazingly displayed in this TAS. Obviously it's a tool for going faster, but this video shows just how much more can be done with it by playing the angles perfectly. Even some jumps with BSJs. Very interesting to watch, especially as a Trilogy speedrunner where Boost Ball is an even bigger part of the picture (since we can't use Scan Dash Jumps in Trilogy/Wii). Another very memorable thing in here is doing "natural" Early Newborn, having basically no energy, and then surviving FHB and MQB despite moving at top speed.
Over the course of three years I’ve probably watched your TAS at least twice a year. This is AMAZING! Fantastic work! The skill, speed, and art of TAS is truly shown in your run
You know, if Nintendo still has a working version of Metroid 64 somewhere, I'm sure there are thousands of us out there that would totally dust off our old Nintendo 64's to play it.
what i've never understood about the invisible security drone in the Phazon Mines is that you get powerbombs from killing it, but you can only see it with the x-ray visor, something you need powerbombs to obtain, so if you're going with the intended order of powerups you're just flying blind
I know I shouldn't, because it's an old game, but I just wish that the energy low sound wasn't so annoying. You would think that after Zelda and Metroid all the way from Super Nintendo to Gamecube they would have realized to make a less obnoxious sound.
@angel ortega TAS stands for Tool Assisted Speedrun. A person has to code a robot to do everything frame perfect as you see in this speedrun. Yes it's a "bot " doing the speedrun, but it takes an incredible amount of time to code such a thing.
@edzan I just noticed this, it seems the ice beam is a play on two different references in games, first ice beam is a pokemon move and the second one is the ice beam is like a shot gun that shoots ice, as in rock man's shotgun ice from mega man x.
This is done by saving the game whenever he wants and reloading until he finds the best solution to a problem, then splicing together the footage of only the most optimal move.
