Did a little research. The song originated in Sweden, by Carl Boberg in 1885. Translated into German and then into Russian. Last but not least into English hymn books. This mans blessing has been past on to us, may God remember his gift that millions have been blessed to here. Hope this helps you.

Their latest cover is “Helplessly Hoping”. A Crosby, Stills and Nash song from 1968. Their version made me CRY. The harmonies are amazing. You may notice the older videos have a guy with a cowboy hat-that’s Chris Rupp. He and his brother, Adam, founded Home Free in 2000. Adam is the beat boxer. (But he sang on this one, and on “Helplessly Hoping”). Chris left the group to go solo in 2016. He was replaced by Adam Chance. Aka “Chance”. He sings the solo on “I can’t outrun you” and the beginning on “Helplessly Hoping”. He directed both videos. “Helplessly Hoping” was arranged by the bass, Tim Foust. You’ll see Tim does some songs with Peter Hollens, who’s s solo acapella Artist-he layers many tracks...Peter did “Misty Mountains” “Sound of Silence” and “Bridge over troubled water” with Tim! Tim has a five-octave range...

Home Free made this video when they were on tour in Europe awhile back, and the visuals are in the Austrian Alps and it is probably my favorite of all. It never fails to lift my spirits when I'm down - it makes everything all right in my world again. Their blend is special as is the tightness of their singing together are the best. I always feel better after watching and listening to their videos. I'm a fan for life.

In September 2016 they had a gig in a country festival in Pertisau, Austria, and on this trip they went to Kemater Alm on Austrian Alps to shoot this video. It took 2 days. Afterwards they went to Munich, Germany, to October Fest to try german beer. They didn't do other gigs on this trip.
Their genius producer Darren Rust arranged this song.
He even had Adam the beatboxer sing few lines of another hymn there in the middle. That's so beautiful.

One of the greatest Christian songs ever written. A song written in gratitude and reverence to God. It was filmed in the Austrian Alps. It is better appreciated without your constant chatter. You need to save it till the end of the song. I am 80 years old and have heard this song at many funerals and memorials through the decades. I have also sung it so many times through the years that I know it by heart. Theirs is one of the greatest versions of this song that have ever heard.

As others have said this song was arranged by Darren Rust. He’s their producer and they record their music at his studio, Skyland Studios. Darren has tons of a capella experience as he sings bass in another great group called The Blenders. They had their big run in the 90s/2000s, but still put on a fantastic Christmas show every year. I was fortunate enough to see them this past Christmas. I recommend checking out their version of Hark, the Herald Angels Sing, it’s utterly amazing. I've watched this video a number of times and I've never gotten "lost" in it before. I see that others have answered your question, "Where are they?" This article will do the same, with some elaboration...
    scenesmedia.com/2016/11/home-free-sings-great-thou-art-majestic-swiss-alps-goes-viral/
As for their arranger (not their only one--each member of Home Free is capable of, and has done, arrangements for the group), the one they acknowledge the most, with the highest praise, is Darren Rust, who runs the studio where they record their albums. You can read about Darren and his work here...
    www.skylandstudio.com/bio/
From what I've heard the guys from Home Free say, Darren presents new arrangements to them, with him singing ALL of the parts. They've half-seriously said, more than once, that they should just start publishing those arrangement presentations for him. Personally, I would love to hear him sing this one! :-)
As an example of an original song (written and arranged by Austin Brown--the lead tenor), I think you'd like to listen to this one...
"California Country" (from their Country Evolution album)
    ruclips.net/video/yXiqN1EyJ6Y/видео.html
Here's an example of an arrangement and video direction (as well as the lead acting part) by Adam Chance. It's also another good example of Adam Rupp singing, with very minimal beatboxing...
"I Can't Outrun You" (cover of the Trace Adkins song)
    ruclips.net/video/cgBYNQBHK8o/видео.html
(I'm proud to say that I'm the "Linda W" shown in the list of Patrons in the Description.) :-)
There are so, so many older videos that I think you'd totally love, but another of my favorite recent ones, is...
"In the Blood" (cover of the John Mayer song)...
    ruclips.net/video/a1TqpH6PZBo/видео.html
I'll leave you with those, for now. These particular suggestions are just for YOU, because I think they will make your heart happy, as they do mine. I really love your reactions. Every time, I sit here watching you after the song, just nodding my head in agreement. My sentiments, exactly! I love that you obviously know what you're talking about in the music realm. This was arranged by Darren Rust. The Hymn was originally written as a poem by Carl Boberg and put to a Swedish traditional melody. Now I will probably get stoned but I never liked it. I have heard several versions of it -some done by pretty big names but I'm sorry I just didn't like it. So when I heard the guys did their version I was skeptical I would like it. Somehow, Darren arranged it in way that blew my socks off. It is so beautiful and the guys harmonies on this one especially are just heavenly.

Adam Rupp is an incredible beatboxer, but in this cover he only sings. You will not believe what he does with his voice. Check out one of his many "drum" solos. Tim imitates a bass guitar really well and has an exceptionally good singing voice with a very wide range, I believe about 3-1/2 octaves. The other guys are just as talented in their own ways and can imitate other instruments as well, so you'll never know what you will hear them do. They have covered a lot of material, enough to keep you busy for at least eight hours straight. Their cover of Johnny Cash's "Ring of Fire" featuring guest singer Avi Kaplan from the group, Pentatonix, is one that will give you a good general idea of what I'm talking about.

So 4:59 is when you're feeling the ending coming on... then 5:03 happens and like the rest of us, you have no idea what to do with yourself when that chord drops. Nice job!

I am just finding you, but wanted to comment about what you are trying to say. First, if you have ever heard an older car horn, how all the tones harmonize and ring perfectly. My uncle uses to say, you can tell a good group when they sound like a car horn. Its multiples, but sound as one also.

so you mentioned how home free sounds like bells and i immediately thought of this song
    ruclips.net/video/gK4KKqC29-o/видео.html
this is home free preforming bring him home from Les Mis (expect for the Adam, the beat-boxer, cause i'm pretty sure this is right after his drum solo and they're probably giving him a break)

Carl Boberg from Sweden composed this 1885 and published it 1886 under the title "O store gud" which roughly means "oh great god". Probably more famous as a song that Elvis Presley and Johnny Cash have sung. Americans usually believes it's originally american like they do with most things.
