Lets Throw A Vase....Using A Beginners Pottery Wheel That SUCKED!!

- Happy new year everyone! And to start off 2024 I thought I'd attempt something new, and try and make a lovely vase on a pottery wheel. Now I have had plenty of practice making ceramic pieces before, however I've never got the chance to use a pottery wheel, and I was super excited to give it a go....that excitement soon turned into disappointment when I realised just how dreadful this beginners pottery wheel was! Because this pottery wheel was electric rather than foot operated, the whole thing was completely useless and weak, to the point where when I put any pressure on the clay to make a vase, the actual pottery wheel would just stop turning! Still think a pottery wheel would be a super fun activity, but just stay away from these crappy electric ones, they are useless! But let me know what your thoughts were on this pottery wheel, and whether you've thrown any cool things on a proper pottery wheel before!

Well that was a little bit sexy and also rather frustrating.... sounds like some dates I've had 😅😅
Hiiiiiii. Happy New Year. xx
And yes, that IS gunpowder. Just a tiny amount. Fireworks also contain gunpowder. xx
Happy New Year! 🥳🥳🥳
My most favourite video of yours to date lol 😂 I thnk your problem was wrong clay and you would need to make it soft and primed before you put it on the wheel but it was funny and i needed that today❤ happy new year xxx
@Kelmot 😆😆 Happy new year!!
On the bright side, the worse the project goes, the more we get to see your incredible wit, sense of humor & personality! You're such a joy to watch Ant!
😆😆
That went exactly as I expected 🤣🤣
😆😆
😂😂@resinAce
I’m from the potteries. You needed something called slip, not the clay you are using. But you are a joy to watch, don’t stop doing these videos , I really enjoy them Anthony xxx
☺️☺️
Ah. The whiff of cordite, the feel of the sponge and the mud , the mud, the damn mud everywhere. No, not the battle of Somme, the Potters Wheel with Ant. Happy New Year.
@WaverleyWanderer that was a hilarious comment! Nice one WW!
Haha! 😅😅 Happy new year! 🥳🥳
Thank you for all the laughs! Even with big, professional pottery wheels, trying to throw pottery is not an easy process! Well done you for trying though 😊
Ah no problem! 😅😅 Oh I can imagine!
😂😂😂😂"It's an anti pottery wheel' got me cracking up. You're a gem Ant. 😂😂😂
😆😆
Aww Ant, bless ya. You could try working (kneading) the clay for a while to make it easier to work with & make sure you place it in the centre of the wheel, use a bit of water if the clay becomes dry or to make slip (a mixture of clay and water which is used to attach clay pieces together) also make sure you score the pieces you want to attach before applying the slip.
You always make my day, please try again. Maybe outside...if it stop raining.😃☔
At least we can call the winner of the best thumbnail 2024 early. 🤣❤️ Can't stop laughing every time I see it. Absolutely brilliant.
On the pottery wheel itself, I never understood that tiny pottery wheel trend. Like, how could a tiny, cheap wheel be any good? It must require a special type of clay or something. 🤔 Oh well, at least you tried! 😂
😆😆😆 Oh I know! I wish I'd splashed out and bought a better one 😅😅
Ok I think you need to watch a little bit of the great pottery showdown. I knew nothing about clays and things until I watched it.❤❤😂😂
II laughed so hard in the middle of the gym I had everybody looking at me 😂 Thanks for that!!!
😆😆
Love the smell of party poppers to 😃 wooden spoons or lollipop sticks make me teeth feel on age 😬😄 Our dogs get in our seats as soon as we leave the room 🤦🏼♀️🤷🏼♀️ Awww at least you tried. Another great video, laughs and naughtiness 👍🏻😃😂🤣🤗🥰🥰
* edge
Oh they're cheeky aren't they! 😅😅 Haha glad you enjoyed it! 😁😁
Certainly are love 😄
What a laugh, and every time the small blobs of clay shot off in multiple directions, it just got funnier, and funnier! That pottery wheel was not at all suited to what you wanted to do with it, which was a shame, things might have turned out very differently otherwise. You were so patient all the way thru that ordeal, personally I would have thrown it straight in the bin after the first 5 minutes! Nicely done Ant! Thanks for the laugh! God bless you.
Haha ah no problem! Yeah it definitely wasn't the best wheel for pottery! 😅😅
What I love about you is your willingness to have a go and the fact you. Take time to reply to all your fans (comments) Happy new year mate
Oh of course I reply to comments! 😊😊 Happy new year! 🥳🥳🥳
Oh my god! The sound effects 🤣 I can't stop laughing!!!
😅😅
I did a couple of lessons last year at the local potters club and I think three little tips would have made it easier for you, start with a ball of clay and, make sure you firmly stick it to the wheel before you start and... Make sure it is stuck in the centre.
I'd like to see you give it another go, but it definitely isn't easy!
No honestly it was the best start to 2024 I laughed so much until tears were running down my face🤣 PS love the hair cut x
Haha 😅😅 Ah and thanks Kathleen! 😊😊
4:11 That’s adorable 🥺🥺🥺
Haha he's sneaky! 😅😅
Thanks for the laugh. Crappy start to the year but that had me in tears in a good way. Happy New Year mate and thanks for the laughs😂
Haha no problem! 😅 Happy new year! 🥳🥳
Props to you for trying but absolutely the wrong clay - you were doomed before you even started 😂
I think that and the wheel tbf, it was honestly soooooo bad to use 😅😅
Oh Anthony you made me laugh so much after a terrible day. You had the totally wrong clay though my lovely but you gave it your all. It did make some sexy kind of noises though which added to your groans ( of frustration ) was hilarious.
Happy New Year sweetheart and thank you for being the highlight of my day ❤❤
Haha no problem! 😆😆 Happy new year! 🥳🥳
Pottery is wicked hard. You need the right clay, then you need to center it on the wheel ad make it into a cone, bring it back down, and then you can start scultpting from what I remember? I took a clss like 15 years ago and, after 10 weeks, ended up with a wonky bowl and a warped plate-like thing. It was fun, messy, but oh so frustrating. Good on you for giving it a try! Happy New Year, Ant! Can't wait for all your crafting adventures in 2024!
Oh I can imagine! Even harder when you have an awful wheel 😅😅 Ah and happy new year! 🥳🥳 Hopefully lots of fun stuff coming up! 😁😁
I used a similar wheel several years ago, and I had the same experience. My sister and I keep talking about a pottery class but we haven't yet.
Oh it's awful isn't it?! I think people don't understand until they actually try and use one at how bad they are 😅😅
At least you tried it. It was a fail, but don't use that to bring your whole year down.😂 I love watching your videos. Have a Happy New Year, Anthony.
☺️☺️ Happy new year! 🥳🥳
Ohhhh dear!!! It looks great fun!
😆😆
I'd be mad at it too. You gave it a good try. You gave us an honest review and a good laugh 😁. Happy New Year!
😅😅 Happy new year! 🥳🥳
I'm less than 25 seconds into the video and had to stop to ask, did you mean to say I absolutely love the smell of party poppers ? or maybe you just added party in front of "poppers"😎🤔🤣 Now back to watching the rest of the video😊
Haha!! Well..... 🤣🤣🤣
🤣🤫@@AnthonyCrammen
Happy New Year Ant!!
I LOVE the thumbnail for this video!! It had me laughing before I even clicked. I have no idea what they would expect you to make on a wheel that tiny... Even the really cheap kits ive seen for kids have a bigger working soace than that... I wonder if there is a soecific purpose for sonething that size or if its just make crappy ...
Happy new year! 🥳🥳 Haha I have no idea! It's purpose must be to make beads 😅😅
@@AnthonyCrammen omg! That's actually genius! I wonder if you could do something that small scale ⚖️ successfully on it actually instead of trying to make a bigger pot!
Now I'm curious lol if you could figure out how to make beads or pendants with it, maybe it wouldn't be a total waste... Maybe it could have a purpose lol
I know you hate fiddling with tiny things though... But you did make the ring with that wax kit, maybe if you made some kinds of fluid beads or something.... It might be worth a try 🤷🏻♀️ turn the new year craft around!!! ♥️♥️💕
Hey Ant, thanks for kicking off the New Year with some ceramic adventures!! That wheel certainly wasn't up to much - but at least you got to have a quick 'catch up' with Patrick 🤣🤣Did you go and pop some more party poppers afterwards to help you feel better?? 😂😂
Haha no problem! 😆😆 Oh me and patrick did indeed, we went wild with party poppers 🤣🤣
@@AnthonyCrammen Hehe, sounds like you had a great time that made up for the lack of pottery!! 😂😂 Was the doggy visitor at your door little Abel, by any chance??
@kingmerry10 I definitely did! And it was indeed how did you know?! 😅😅 He looooooves being 'in' beds, can't just be on top of them 🤣🤣
@@AnthonyCrammen Awww, lovely little Abel!! Who wouldn't want to be in a nice warm bed at this time of year?? 😂😂 Hope you're having a fab weekend so far - even if there's an Abel-shaped occupant in the bed 🤣🤣
@kingmerry10 Haha! And I am indeed! Hope you're having a lovely weekend too! ☺️☺️
😂 I needed this today. ❤
Glad I can help! 😆😆
Awww bless. You should of kneaded the clay first for a while. Would of been far more plyable xx
Oh Anth, oh. I think we have to knead the clay with more water first. Whats your fav music? Fav Pokemon? I am going to make progess on cooking something special. Your shirt!
Happy New Year ❤❤❤
Happy new year! 🥳🥳
All I can do whilst watching this is.. 🤣🤣😂🤣
😆😆
Hahaha, I laughed out loud at this one 😂😂😂😂😂
😆😆
I feel for you Ant. Love your shirt at least that came out right. Hope you can get your money back. 😢😢
I doubt it after the condition it was in 😅😅
Hey Ant hopefully you will see this, if not I'll try again .. . But I was just looking up some of the different recipes on how to make your own air dry clay at home. Their are a bunch of different ones using flour and salt, or corn starch and glue, and even some using paper etc etc
I was wondering if you might do a video one day trying to make some of the different recipes out their and comparing them to each other and maybe to some of the air dry clay you have hoarded about the studio that you have purchased also... There are so many different kinds and I haven't seen anyone really try a bunch of different home made ones and see how they fare against one another and for all of us who like to craft on the cheap I think it would be a truly interesting experiment and hopefully not even a very expensive video for you either ☺️
I'd really like to see a bunch of the different types in action and how they dry and what you think of them and maybe we could find something truly good and useful in the experiment!
Oh that's a great idea! I'll add it to my list! 😁😁
@@AnthonyCrammen thanks !!! I'm glad you like it, and that you saw this too. Have a great day ☺️
I love this idea too! ❤
That thumbnail 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
😆😆
Oh dear! Not a good start to the year! I wonder if you had the wrong type of clay? Air dry clay tends to be quite firm, but the clay I use at my pottery lessons (I think it’s terracotta) can be quite soft and much more malleable. It’s funny that you should have wanted to do this as I am signing up for a course in wheel throwing pottery myself this year. It’s something I’ve always wanted to do, and I really love working with clay. I hope I’m a little more successful than you. I can’t believe that your pottery wheel didn’t come with instructions. Not that you would’ve read them. 😅😅😅😅❤
PS your printed shirt looks really good on. Much sexier than your pottery!
Oh I know! Ah and that sounds fun! Hope it goes well and you make some cool things! 😁😁
I have a very similar wheel to that one! I tape sandpaper to it and use it to polish resin. :)
Oh good idea!
6 months later... Ant now thinks he has finally found and cleaned up the last splatter of clay🤣. Watching that made me never want to try throwing a pot. I believe this is one of those things that if you watch the pros doing it, it looks so easy. But in reality it isn't. 10/10 for even attempting it 👍
😆😆 Oh and for sure!! I have no idea how they make such amazing things with it!
I really want a pottery wheel. At least now you have stopped ne doing something daft and buying a little one lol. Happy New Year ❤
😆😆 Happy new year! 🥳🥳
I think it may have been better if it had a step/pedal control like a sewing machine so you had more control over it!
I bought the cactus kit, which im enjoying, but I'll pass in that pottery wheel!! Lol xx
No destructions? Refer to pictures! xx
Thanks for the laugh Anthony. The motor is definitely not strong enough for the pressure required to shape the clay. (Hey that sounds like I know what I'm talking about - don't be fooled haha). HNY!
Haha! 100% true though!! Happy new year! 🥳🥳
Thank you for warning us about this crappy pottery wheel😂. I'm definitely going to stay away from buying it. 😁❤
Haha no problem! 😅😅
Why don’t you try playing a ukulele? I’m learning to play and it’s pretty easy. You can find tutorials on RUclips. Happy 2024!!
Oh I think after a certain someone played it in an 'apology' video it kinda ruined it 😅😅 And happy new year! 🥳🥳
😂. U made a tealight holder 👍
😆😆
I didn’t like a full size potters wheel either. Very hard work. Much more fun to do some slab work. Thanks I won’t bother 😂
😆😆
Well it might have been a sh*tter for you but it cheered upl a sh*tty day for me, thank you :) Maybe you coudl use the wheel for doing interesting paint effects on stuff????
Haha glad you enjoyed it! 😅😅
🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤❤
🥳🥳🥳
😂😂😂
Sorry Anthony it’s not you or the wheel it’s the😢 clay. Get real pottery clay and try again 😅
😂😂😂😂
