Thank you for these RUclips lessons, Mark! I am 54 and just started playing bass guitar for my church worship team. I have a musical background in vocal and instrumental, but never a stringed instrument, even though my dad's instruments were in my house as a child. You are a great teacher, because people have various amounts of musical background, and you are teaching everyone at the same time! Impressive!

Ive been playing bass for around 20 years and because Ive got a good ear, Ive got away with it, but every now and then I get found out.
Ive been lazy learning all the notes especially D and G string (Play 5 string) So I thought I would have a looksie around youtube and settled on this guy to help me sort out my notes!!!!
This guy has the patience of Job, and makes it simple for us guys and gals.
Thankyou, I am subscribed and will look forward to more material.

I am watching your videos cuz the leader of the worship team is thinking he might have me as a "Floater" musician on the team going back and fourth on Bass and i havent played in a long time but just recently bought a Cheap bass fourstring and it is very descent sounding from glarry music only like $124.00 that comes with carying case a cable and a nylong carry case and a fourty watt amp. On stage i will be plugging in a direct box though
I want to thank talking bass for this refresher of the bass and want to be less mechanical and more natural with the timing like i am on piano and keyboards. So Im going through all of your content ! Ty soo much for taking me back to the BASSICS! no pun intended lol .;^} Hope there isn't a Puntax !

I just picked up playing the bass just last week. I've played viola and cello back in middle school and high school. So when I was looking up how to play the bass on here all I was seeing were number tabs and even though they r pretty easy to follow I wanted notes to read. So this is so helpful and I can start properly understanding my instrument now. Thank u 💞

I am a musical composer /performer on keyboards , Guitar was my instrument in jr high and beggining of highschool so mainly played in second rythm using three finger fifths power chords with heavy metal type songs back then but picked up piano in 8th grade. Concrning sharps and flats If you are going by the circle of fifths they mostly call sharps but if you reverse the circle of fifths chart it becomes the circle of fourths which hit the flats before the sharps so think of the fourth circle a backwards circle of fifths! You can google Circle of fourths or youtube it also infer to circle of fifths is what most composers use to wrige progressions ....

2:46 How I memorized open strings, I say the Aussie phrase “G’day!” But spell it GDAE. And that’s the strings from bottom to top.
If you need help remembering “G’day,” just pretend you’re saying hi to your bass because you’re likely just picking it up again.

Yes i dont share my personal compositions like ever as of now it may change some day and I will but for now no due to others stealling your concepts. In the future due to copywrite maybe i might share some of them but there are a few scores I will never play in front of anyone lol !
