      Kurt would occasionally write his name as "Kurdt", especially in his younger Nirvana days

      A lot of people seem to forget the downward spiral of A.I.C’s original bassist Mike Starr. He died of an overdose in March 2011. Also ‘Mad Season’s’ bassist John Baker Saunders died from an overdose in the late ‘90’s.

    I was coming home from a 6 month deployment on board uss carl vinson when they passed out a ship News letter. ( as they did before every port) and on the front page was the news about Kurt’s suicide, I was heartbroken! Before the album nevermind I thought I would never go see a live show as all the bands I liked were older , I didn’t want to see milli vanilli or even supposed rock bands that wore spandex and a full can of hairspray just to go onstage…. Kurt and all the Seattle bands I learned about after gave me HOPE for music again and I will ALWAYS be grateful RIP Kurt, Chris, Andy, and layne!

    That aired like a few days after Kurt died. Kroq was giving away a trip to NY to see PJ at SNL that week. I couldn't care less, but I did watch and notice Eddie paid tribute. I copied him by writing "Kurt" on the headstock of my strat. It eventually became "The Kurt Guitar".

    I was there. All those things he’s talking about. The shows at the crocodile and the after parties at some house in the basement making new friends networking sharing music and trading tapes. Amazing days. We’d be sitting around sharing a bowl or a bottle of Jager and some music would be on and we’d go “ who the hell is this”. And some dude would say “do you like it”. We’d say who the fuck is this?” And he’d go “that’s my band, I’m the singer”. And We’d talk and get the brand name then watch for them in the local rags and go to their shows and walk up to them. We’d remember each other, hug go hang backstage smoke a bit and invite everyone over for a spontaneous after party. This shit happened once or twice a week for several years in the early nineties

    I saw the tribute museum they organized for Kurt and it is perplexing to think he is like one of us. He celebrated birthdays, played with his relatives, and enjoyed being in the spotlight. The problem is the experiences he encountered in an unstable state. It is almost with 100% assurdity that the elements were stacked against him. The issue is he wanted the freedom he had but lost a part of his mechanism to sustain himself and not allow the outside to dictate his health and well being.

    Eddie never had beef with Kurt and vise versa it was the media trying to make Nirvana is the creators of "grunge" no it's Pearl Jam and so on, this was my era I was a teenager when this was happening, it was Mud Honey, Fugazzi, Soundgarden, Nirvana, Mother Love Bone/Pearl Jam, STP, etc, it just happened to be a slew of great bands making great music and if you know anything about Ed you will never find anything about him bashing Kurt, he's one of the most kind hearted front men in the greatest rock band ever. He only goes after corruption lol Ed is great and we're greatful he is still with us and if you haven't seen them in concert, I highly recommend it. ✌️💙

      I mean he’s an awesome drummer, top tier, but they had differences and found themselves not wanting to work with him. I can’t say I’m happy with their decision, but I do understand it. And it’s been almost 30 years, so I don’t think hanging onto it is gonna do any good at this point. I’ve opened myself up to Irons and Cameron, and I also really like their drumming. I think they went on to make some great music even without Krusen or Abbruzzese.

    I'm almost 50 now BUT that music and those bands are well... IMMORTAL and im glad that we all got to enjoy those musical geniuses because Great Music doesn't just fall out of the Sky all the time...so when you see Great things enjoy them & hold them Dear because excellence like I said just doesn't happen Daily... We also lost Scott Weiland who I consider a Genius along with the other Stone Temple Bandmates... and Eddie we hope you play & live as long as you can because you & Cantrell and Kinney and gosh the other guy with long black hair & he knows who he is and how Genius he was & is with Alice in Chains... their Music lives on!

      @featheryfemme 2 года назад +1

      He wasn’t a fan at first, but they put their differences aside after a little bit and he came around to it. You’ve gotta remember, Ten was PJ’s Nevermind. Very clean, very produced-sounding, it was for the masses more than the scene they were actually in. Kurt looked at PJ the way the fans looked at Nirvana, but instead of with admiration, it was with contempt. When he got to know them and realised they weren’t this clean, soft, pop band, he stopped hating them. Both bands’ next albums were more raw sounding.
