HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 4 окт 2024
- OA Defense launched the OA 2311 properly end of last year and now are shipping their Pro model - a version of the gun with a lighter slide, better trigger, better mag release, more mags, and now the option of ports in the barrel right from the factory. A quick review of the Compact Pro and a new take on single action only carry guns.

I came for the Dad jokes, I stayed for the pistol review.
The joke is on the do nothing gun owner dad ??? They did nothing and lost everything their just beyond stupid so they don't understand yet.
I drink beer and pee allot
Since they're so close in price, I'd love to see this vs Bul 4.25 Tac Pro....
Your reviews are always terrific. Keep up the great work.
Platypus vs 2311!!! 🎉
This channel should have tons more subs.
Definitely. We need to spread the word.
If there was a way for me to get them beyond just making videos I’d love to try it lol
Another great review. I have become a big fan of heavy, shorter barrel pistols, even for competition.
Grip heavy guns are my favorite
It looks like a sci-fi gun you'd find in a near future video game / movie and I'm all for it.
I picked up the full-size 2311 a few months ago and I love it... and ordered the High Desert w/ Sage grips on Day 1. Waffled a bit on the Pro... but may take a look at it again. Thanks!
Ported compact model I shot at Range day at SS was my favorite as well
Nice shorts. Bringing back the 80’s PE teacher look with nut length shorts and white socks.
*correct length shorts
They should really start using p365 mags. They could get those grips considerably slimmer, and make them more attractive for carry.
I hope the 2311 gets the same level of aftermarket support that the p320 or glocks get
Thank you sir! The best OD 2311 Compact pro review on YT!!
Great review. I was waiting for this one and look forward to the Kimber KDS9c rail review.
Those look really thick. Just thick everywhere. P320 mags is an improvement, as is the lack of grip safety. Trigger finger slide release is one of my fav things about my Excalibur.
They are! I've had two of these come through my store and 90% of people's hands did not fit well on this gun. It's super thick and it's contoured very strangely.
@@duty5127 thats strange because its the complete opposite of what I have experienced. And I have really small hands.
I can't say enough good things with my compact pro. Glad I also got the full size magwell to have the option of a g45 vibe too.
I had issues with the Compact Pro not wanting to cycle very well for the first 4-5 magazines... After that, started to run flawless. The full size has ZERO issues from the first round. That was the only complaint I had on mine.
That is the model I would buy if I was going to buy one. Maybe next year. This year is 2024 Staccato C.
Thatsa Battlestar Galactica blaster! Now I need one.
To be fair, I got light strikes on AAC 124 in shadow systems pistols also.
AAC 124 sucks! I could not run a full mag out of my sig x macro without lights strikes.
I was coming here to say this! Both my Shadow Systems and my Steyr L9 have trouble with AAC ammo
Thanks for the info.
BTW, my friend and I both shot the AAC 77gr OTM in our ARs, and the accuracy was crap compared to a previous lot# of the same ammo. This leads me to believe AAC QC is failing .
Nice to see you use the Cyelee. I have been using them (2) for about 18 months with not a bit of trouble. The Wolf X Pro is fantastic !!!! Great video as usual. 🙂
They are solid
14:00 min, with the competition clip, you were freaking FLYING through that course! Nicely done
Thanks man! Yeah I am focusing on speed this year and there is still a ways to go
High praises 😎👍🏻
Another great review brother! Keep up the BIG DAD ENERGY!
Hands down the best looking pistol out there. Just my opinion, but love the look for sure!
If you need P320 mags Greg Cote sells ACT-MAG's for $23/per. When I shot an X5 Legion I had 12 of them and never had a problem.
I will have to check those out
Regarding cowitness with RmR footprint. I believe they are still planning to release a new revision. I inquired shortly after I placed my order earlier this year. When I took delivery early May, they had the revised plate as well as a mid height front sight post installed.
It cowitnesses brilliantly with my holosun 507C.
Not sure when they’re planning to officially release it.
Yeah in conversations there is plenty coming but you review the gun you have
These are some good looking guns if I say
On a podcast you did in May you mentioned “performance carry guns”. Can you go into more detail on what those guns are?
Prodigy mags are the cheapest and they are all I use in my 2011s including my Atlas ( that only came with one magazine for $6000)
Cybertruck vs Rivian is the comparison I was thinking of.
I hadn't looked into this pistol that much. I'm surprised at how competitively priced it is.
Fast forward to 3:25. Your welcome😊
Given the AAC QC reports, I have a feeling I wouldn’t attribute the issues to the gun, but maybe a combo of the 2.
Their rifle ammo has produced some interesting internet posts from Indians not sponsored to promote AAC stuff
Not sure if the pistol ammo is attributed to like failures
NOT INDIANS, I meant INDIVIDUALS, no one cancel me please. I’m an ally to natives hahahha
@@tylerfrogley1227 even indians dont like crappy ammo.
@@leftyo9589 I’m relieved hahah
Cool beans!
Pro vs non-pro. Wait until the pro version of the full size comes out then make your comparison!
Reviews are always great! Well organized and clear. But!… What does OA stand for? It wasn’t until 1:28 that I read the case 😅
They changed their name from Oracle Arms to OA Defense - kind of like HP
You should try a v8 ported c2. Really liking mine
Wish they had a bull barrel in these instead of the regular 9mm barrels
On their website it says their 2311's fit in most P320 Lightbearing Holsters. Have you attempted?
There’s a ton of light bearing holsters that take any gun - not specifically an sig one - but no I don’t have an sig Light Bearing so I didn’t try it. It does fit a flood light - obviously.
The cyber truck vs the cyber quad
Many have said there were feeding issues and having to send it back. Didn't feel like they thought the price was justified. I didn't really hear much of your thoughts on those.
I never encountered anyone with feeding but I don’t pay attention to most gun content - this one worked fine for me - but it’s also the T&E gun so dunno.
Probably an odd question to some, but how did this shoot compared to the P320 AXG Legion? I have a metric ton of 320 mags, and those are the two guns I'm considering.
I know it's pretty subjective, but if you've shot one, how much of an upgrade is this from a P320? I understand the trigger is not comparable, (although I think the trigger isn't bad) but what other differences do you notice? Thanks.
Manual of arms, thumb rests and trigger are the big difference- I prefer a proper manual safety action vs a striker action
Can we get an Open gun showdown? Im looking to make the switch from carry optics to open division and would like a comparison between a handful of open guns that are lower priced in the category, IE: 5k and under or around that
Around 3K - Bul armory UR - around 5K you have MPA DS9 Open or Bul Spitfire. Spitfire is more forgiving for loading. Czechmate is an option but I don’t recommend it
@@TheHumbleMarksman Thank you for this I was thinking of the UR or the czechmate, I have watched Jordan Rogers video on the czechmate and one of the main reasons I like the czechmate is because I have a lot of rounds on a shadow 2 but maybe I will step away from that idea
So I know two people personally who have shot themselves with czechmates due to the scalloped frames near the trigger guard - accidents can happen
Not sure where you got the "Less than $1000" from.
I don’t understand why so short of grips and the full size look hideous with that short grip making the barrel look super long can’t even get a good purchase on the grip that’s crazy for 2300$
So how about this vs the new BA Tac Pro 4.25? That seems like a fun comparison! Comparable guns (on paper), and comparable pricing.
sadly I don't have all the guns just some of them - I don't have a 425 pro - just a 5 pro.
@@TheHumbleMarksman that is sad. And my mistake, I thought I'd seen a 4.25 in one of your videos.. which in retrospect doesn't make sense because I'm sure if you had one, it would have at least earned a mention.
Regardless, really enjoyed this video and glad there was an Atlas around for comparison sake!
Love your vids.. But them tight shorts.. What you squatting? jk🤣 Been looking at this and the Platypus.. Great pistols...
Interesting video thanks! For none carry are these even playing the same sport as the Bul Pro Tac ported versions?
Bul vents more gas
They need to release the pro model and come with the black grip instead of this two tone grey.
You can get a black grip Compact Pro if you email them
You know what your Mom is upside down..WOW! 😂
Carry On
Man, I have always wanted lights and optics and stuff.... but I just keep going back to my 20 year old G26. . . it fits my fat best. Simple as. Old boy in the streets, Racer in the sheets. Love all the toys at the range.
Welp the price for the pro is a bit high lol if im gonna pay that much im getting a staccato p and sending it to vulcan works
Dude does a great job … I m not interested in $$$$ expensive firearms because I can’t afford them. But David makes interesting and funny above all. Love the competition uniform. ❤😂
This or the bul armory ported versions?
How would you compare the OA Defense 2311 Compact Pro to the Staccato XC?
Xc is way easier to shoot - it’s one of the best shooting guns
👍👍
This thing looks awesome, i just have trouble discerning the intended market. This is for deep end hobbyists or competitors, even though its meant as a carry gun?
Im comfortably in the upper-middle class, have been into firearms for 15 years, and could never see myself buying one of these.
The pro upgrade alone costs more than my entire carry gun, which is already supremely reliable, durable and more accurate than i am.
Just doesnt seem like the value is there for a carry gun. Competition only is a different story.
Enthusiasts gonna enthuse I guess
What is the grip angle on these?
What is the classification in IDPA for this gun?
ESP or CO
I couldn't imagine using this for self defense and it being trapped in an evidence locker...
If you think it wouldn't somehow 'get lost", you're wrong
Hair triggers are insensitive to people with alopecia
13:53 is scary
Would have been nice if they recessed the frame screws.
that is really a deal killer. if everything on the gun was awesome but that, its still a nope.
Yeah
A WML holster is not the bulge you want to draw attention to in shorty shorts.
I wonder when the platypus will get ported comp options.
🤘🏻🇺🇲🤘🏻💪🏻🇺🇲💪🏻
I get it that completion pistols are a premium and competitors are paying to get that little bit of extra performance, but this is being marketed for $2349 as a self defense pistol? These are not the droids you’re looking for - wave of my arm.
Did you film this on a remote island in the china island chain?
Special thanks to PSA for degrading the quality of AAC ammo.
yeah the new AAC is really bad.
13:45 on are definitely some pre-Jordan shorts🤣🤣🤣
dude, you scare me sometimes!! I cant stand my C2!!
Having a slim pistol is counterproductive if the holster needs to be large...that sucks.
That's just that holster. They have a Smith Holsters option on the site that has a slimmer, tighter design.
@@spocknasty I will look into it, but like he said, small added bits means long widened sections in a holster. I'm not even saying this is the worst example or that it's a bad package, it just makes me wonder why HOLSTERS are not given the coverage they are due. Especially concerning their dimensions. So many gun channels, so little holster coverage and comparisons. There are millions of concealed carriers, the market is there.
hmm.. so just in case you didn't remember which model you bought.. they took the time to roll "COMPACT PRO" on the side for the WHY would you do that?! just awful roll decision.. looks very SIG like which isn't a compliment.. decent competitive price points.. competes w Platypus, Bul, Staccato, Cosaint.. idk. looks are unique and such but not sure if it's my thing just because of the Sig mags.. also not into Glock mag dubstack 1911.. why use non-2011 mags. juice isn't worth the squeeze.. folk paying $2k for a gun, aren't sweating $$ mags so kind of sillly.. glad to have more options, sub $2500. hi5 OA D
I'm looking to buy my first 2311.The pistol is over 2k. For that price, the pistol needs to be 4140 or 4330 steel frame, not aluminum. In my opinion the Staccato P is a better option.
It takes 15 rnd guns! LoL
looks like it still shoots like a 320.. so they got rid of the shitty 320 trigger but kept the crappy tall chunky slides
What a jumpy gun... in your hands... Imagine in mine. I would like you to make a video about about ported guns, which kind is more flat: small holes on top, v8 style or gengis komp (monsoon tactical)? Break down the physics of it... And, if possible, use that gun vise like stand to objetively measure the recoil of every type. I know you can do it.
it does look fairly snappy.
Like it but they should of made it in a 4".
I like commander length
@@TheHumbleMarksman keep up the good videos!
Won't own a pistol that loses the rear sight when you mount an optic!
The plate replaces it and they are releasing new plates soon
Every time I see OA's prices: It was said that you would beat Staccato, not join them! 😢
The pro price is in line but more features - 3x more mags + ports + tons of optic plates/sights vs 2 mags, no plates
$2400.. OA can FO...
There's something about OA Defense 2311's that I find extremely ugly; maybe because the aesthetics are so far removed from a traditional 1911, or I've been conditioned to find bull barrels much more pleasing to the eyes.
No more trigger weights? Gay, unsubbed
This one was sub 3# - close to it anyway
Can't get over the fact that the gun looks like it's wearing one of those god-awful Recover Tactical grips, even though it's factory.
What a great time we live in with all the awesome guns that have been coming out the last few years!!! Unfortunately we live in Biden times where most people cannot afford to be spending this kind of money on a toy!
The President has nothing to do with price gouging by corporations in monopolized markets such as grocery procurement/distribution. That's the purview of the FTC which has been systematically neutered by the Republican party over decades.
Not impressed with these.
For what they cost you can buy a staccato P, C2, CS, C….
Anyone telling you these are on par with a staccato they are that out lying or being paid to say so..
It’s a 1500-1600 gun
Why not make 2 different grips instead of that chungus magwell?
A bull barrel would balance the gun out better. Most with small-medium hands will have a hard time with this pistol.
The controls don’t have the fit up that a staccato does. No grip safety. Slide to frame fit, barrel lock up, and coating quality just isn’t there to be compared to a Staccato.
If I’m buying 1 that means I already have 320 mags. I don’t need 5 more.
It’s over priced.
The Atlas shouldn’t even be a comparison.
Race guns🙄
Names like "2011" or "2311" is lame af! 💯. These companies need to stick to 1911 high capacity!
we need to lose the term high capacity period. only the anti's embrace those words.
2011 was a good take. 2311 is just overkill and lame.
@hpmizan1244 2011 is a trademarked term by staccato. That's why they all have their own name. We the community just call everything a 2011
Nah, having high capacity in the name is lame
Stick to a tradition of names related to unreliability.
OA Defense makes _thee_ ugliest guns on the market. They are tied with Hi-Point.
They all look chunky, unwieldy and thoroughly unimpressive. IMHO of course.
Put it this way folks, it could be functionally superior in every possible way and yet I would _still_ refuse to own this pistol. Sometimes aesthetics matter.
Now the Laugo Alien on the other hand...
_"You're beautiful, like a May Fly."_ *~Ernest Hemingway*
Stay classy my friends.
The laugo alien 😂😭 I wish you started your review there so that I could immediately disregard anything further. The funny thing is this actually resembles an alien, just a more practical version
without the massive beaver tail.
@@ghost_tattoos To each their own I suppose.
Hence, the Hemingway quotation. None of them are truly beautiful, IMHO. By 'none of them', I mean polymer pistols.
Come to think of it, I cannot recall a single polymer frame pistol that could be considered aesthetically pleasing. Although, I am open to suggestions.
Perhaps the Walther PDP or Steyr M pistols? Hard to beat 1911's & Co. for overall beauty.
Stay classy my friend.
Do these pistols have the over insertion issue like 1911’s with larger mags?
