- I've been asked a few times what the default settings are for the M5 display. So if you've messed with the settings and need to return them, I received information from the ENGWE company confirming mine are set correctly.
My bike has a 500w motor with a 48v/12.5ah battery. I don't know if these settings are different if you have a different spec bike, but as they didn't ask, I assume it's generally for the EP-2.
Not all the settings have an effect on the bike but If any of the assist or other parameters are changed, I've found that the display needs to be turned off and back on to register the input.

If you have a different brand of bike with the same controller, your settings will be different, so you would need to contact the manufacturer of your bike for the default settings.
For those enquiring about cruise control, I had confirmation from ENGWE that it does not have cruise capability.

I played around with all the setting, including the "DO NOT Change" ones, how can I know which ones to change it back to so I don't mess up the bike? thanks for any advice
Yeah I did the same, I need to get #14 thru #17 correct, and make sure I don't kill my battery! 500w 48 volt 14.5 ah ....if anybody can help, or knows a factory reset? My senada drifter is basically exactly the same as this bike

If you have problems with cutting out and settings does not stay, you probably have a bad controller. I found two swollen caps in mine and when i replaced them with better ones the cut outs went away. But I cant still save settings and some some has no effect at all.
My lcd screen broke off and ripped off all the 8 wires do you know when color wire corrisponds to which soder pocket it goes to?

My controller (X008-AAM003) and the M5 display only has settings 1 to 20.
Would you possibly know what the correct settings are for this configuration?

Thanks for the info I'm a little confused on number 15, I have a 48 volt 14 ah battery I'm not sure what I should set that at any help would be great, honestly I'm not sure if I even changed it, if I did I don't want to ruin my battery,
That is the lowest voltage that the battery cuts off to save damaging it. So I would say the default 39 would be safe for all types

No. I think that's the controller amperage.
I just got my engwe 750 pro and would like to restrict the speed to 25km as it is the speed any help would be great thanks
On setting 8, put it to 75 = 75% of power..
Hi, how do I turn off the headlight. A week ago I noticed it was on until I took the battery away. Display don´t say it is on. When I put back the battery light started to light right away, even the display is still off. Pressing long time "up" does not shut it, only the display says then "light is manually on". Is there somewhere in menu I can choose light automatic?

There is no cruise on this model, the controller doesn't support it. It's a generic display used on other bikes that have that option.

For cruise control you MUST use the throttle. Hold a rough speed with the throttle and long press the down arrow for 4-6 seconds.
Morning great videos do you find that when you set the wheel circumference to 24 on the LCD screen the bike overestimate the speed and the miles? the only reason why i question this is on my phone I have a cycling app that shows different reading. Also if you measure the wheel it comes up more like 23 inch. What's your findings on this? Thanks
I did email Engwe and they told me the correct setting was 24. I haven't tried it on anything else, maybe I'll do a test of it.

Can I ask what speeds your getting on the PAS levels? I have a bike with the exact controller except it only goes up to number 17 in the settings so im missing 18-26 like in your video. Anyhow my bike PAS 1 goes to 25km/h and that is the slowest speed. PAS 2 is about 29km/h and PAS 3 is 33km/h, after that you can't pedal because the gears on the pedals run out. Just wanted to see if theres a way to make the PAS levels slower? the retailer I bought the bike off seems to think its normal to go from 0 - 25km/h and have that as your slowest speed.
I get about 17kmh in pas 1. I have 5 pas levels. You could try to change 05P setting to 001. I'm not sure on yours. but it may give you 5 pas levels. Take a look at my other videos about changing the rear sprocket to less teeth, that will help with the pedal run out.

Have you ever changed the LCD Display to the new Yolin LC80. My M5 display continues to accumulate condensation, and I am afraid of it burning out the controller. I continue to get an Error 030 which is a communication error.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I don't believe it's a straight swap, I believe you would have to change the controller box too. Something to do with the way they communicate with each other.
@Midland Bullet Riders thank you. I was afraid of that. I am now wondering if there was a way to flash the LCD to the controller. Found a cable to program the Bafang Mid Drive. Donl you know if these are a Bafang Hub Motor?

As far as cruise control go's (with it turned on), I read that you need to maintain the same speed for 6 seconds before it kicks in, worth a try.
I've tried a few different ways, but as soon as you press the down button, it tries to engage walk mode.
You've probably already tried, but I found this method of activating cruise control ruclips.net/video/k4Q8RVoo7V0/видео.html I didn't realise these controllers were supposed to do cruise control until after I'd bought my bike so I won't be disappointed if it doesnt work.

@@djgiammylipari ciao ho risolto il problema dei miglia in km basta entrare nel menù premendo insieme il tasto più e meno e poi nel programma 2 lo imposti a 00 in modo che passa in km ma purtroppo dopo cqualche minuto che spegni la bici non si ricorda più le impostazioni stano forse c'è un modo per salvare. Se vuoi tiando il link in inglese che ti spiega tutte le funzioni del display
Hi my engwe won't switch on when I press the button on the handlebars. I've checked the battery (fully charged). I contacted the service dept via email they don't want to know.

Not come across it myself. Press and hold the M button for a couple of seconds to turn on. I would also check all connections.

I have Rattan LF500 with this display. It is broken. Where can I get the replacement? Unfortunately Rattan company doesn't reply on my emails.
You could search on Aliexpress see if they have one the same.
Hi, Can you tell me how I can change Power Driven and Electric Driven mode to only Electric dirven mode, I have allready try P10 set to 1 value, but it do not work
I haven't tried it myself, but after you have put in the settings you require, turn off the display and back on again, see if that makes any difference, as I know it does when you change the speed settings.
I have the same problem. In my country throttle on a ebike is not allowed but i can't change the setting. Try to disconnect it from the controller but then i get error 034

When I try to go into program mode I get a large C in the display and I have to shut off the display in order to get out of it. Any ideas?
You have to put a code in but I can't find one for the new model
Hi, I ask you for advice, I changed the parameters from the display, let it automatically return to the HOME screen, then I turned off the display and removed the key from the battery. If I turn it back on after a few minutes it keeps the saved parameters for me, on the other hand, if I let more time pass, the default parameters return to me. Am I wrong something? Do you think the display or the control unit is faulty? The km / mile, on the other hand, always keeps me saved. Thanks
It appears some of the parameters save and some don't. I changed 05P and removed battery for a few days, and was still ok when I used again, 10P and 11P didn't. Think that's just the way it is.

Thank you very much for this video and the link to the M5 display manual !!! I've got an issue, perhaps you know how to solve ? When commuting from Mph to Km/h, the setting disappear when the power is off during some time (some minutes). The same for the P05 parameter, which allows to choose between 3, 5 or 9 help levels. Each setting I choose is erased after a while, and when I wake up the bike, these parameters (perhaps all, I did not check all of them) are resetted to factory settings... Anyone knows how to fix that ?
After inputting the numbers, try turning off the display and back on again.
try looking at the wiring from the controller along the whole bike. Most likely there is a cut into the harness. This was my issue.

No, some of the setting have no effect on the bike. As this display is used on other bikes, I assume it's for ones that are capable of it.

I would think so, but finding one that fits is a problem. very little space available.
I am hoping someone here may be able to help me with a problem I have with my Sheng Milo MX02S that uses this display. For some reason, I do not have any pedal assist above three. Checking my settings p05 is 1 which seems to be the correct setting that people are talking about in the comments for pedal-assist 5.
I'm trying to do the opposite on MX03, but I can't. I recently bought a controller and display that Rad Bikes use as an upgrade(40A sine + LCD8H display) the battery couldn't handle it, the motor is cutting off on load. So I switched back to old one until the new 25Ah battery comes with normal BMS 30A.
I also checked the max current draw on the original setup(click M button while riding until it displays current). 9A. Pathetic. It even drops when going uphill to 7. 1000W rated motor should use at least 30Amax, 15Arated controller. This one behaves like Bafang hub 750W, which is great.
In setting 5, put it to 1 and you will have 5 modes

I've messed up in the settings. I don't even know how. Now it's asking for some kin of pass. Whenever I try to turn on The display show only these " ----". I don't know any pass. I can't get into settings to make everything default. How do I reset it. I can't use my bike. Help pls.
I don't think there is a password. Check your wire connections, it could just be an error. Make sure the wire connection near the rear wheel is good.

There shouldn't be a limit on it. Depending on your size, the 500 should go between 22 and 26mph.

P14 set to 18 if you have an 18 volt battery.. set to 12 if you have a 12 volt battery

Communication error between the motor and display. Check connection of the wire coming from the rear wheel.
My M5 only goes up to P-5!
The newer bikes with the M5 computer seem faulty. I bought two bikes and the second one came with an m5 which loses settings and the motor randomly works. The handle bar initially works and then after just stops working. It needs a new computer but the Aliexpress seller wouldnt send me one. They are just full of lies.
My motor cut out a little every now and then, turned out to be the brake lever not tightly closed when not used. Seems fine now.

@@Humanature85 I just made any adjustments to the brakes at the caliper end and made sure the levers returned all the way, the cable shroud doesn't always seat there if you're not careful, if the motor cuts while riding, push the levers back with the back of your fingers to see if that is the problem? If it is the motor will run and you need to adjust the lever .
Good day everybody, Tried to throttle my bike to 25 km / h I have saved the value 25 under p08, Nevertheless my bike drives over 40 km / h I want to be legal on the road Can someone help me? Should I change something else? I am grateful for any help
