    *BEGINNER-FRIENDLY BUILD GUIDES - 3.23 Affliction League*
    Below are a few guides you may want to consider for the 3.23 Affliction League. I have created my own build guide for beginners, and it works great as a Leaguestarter, is a lot of fun to play! Beyond that, Righteous Fire got some big changes in 3.23, and until I research more about the current build, I don't know if I recommend it at this time, but I'll still leave a link to Pohx's wiki page. Otherwise, here are some Leaguestarter roundup videos you might want to check out to find a build for the Affliction League.
    *Salendrak's Blazing Salvo Deadeye Miner* - Hard to find a more detailed build guide that is tailed to new players! And yes - I'm biased ;-)
    Vid link coming soon! See guide video for current PoB link.
    *Pohx's Righteous Fire* - A fantastic build for new players, Righteous Fire has a smooth playstyle, and Pohx has literally made a wiki to help people understand the build, including FAQs, crafting guides, and more.
    www.pohx.net/
    *Fezz's Toxic Rain Champion* - I haven't played this build personally, but it has a HIGHLY detailed written guide, and Toxic Rain is and has been a popular league-start build for a while now.
    poe-beginner-guide.com/
    *Other Newer-Player Friendly / League Start Guides*
    These are generally VERY detailed guides and pretty beginner-friendly, but be sure to watch the videos and read the notes, as they sometimes have some specific items or stats that are needed to make the builds work. Your mileage may vary with these builds!
    *Zizaran's League-Start Builds* -
    Explosive Arrow Ballista Champion - ruclips.net/video/pHssEwgZFQo/видео.htmlsi=Zwuim9iGj32-l15W

    *Subtractem's SRS Guardian* - ruclips.net/video/fiYpBOXPAgk/видео.htmlsi=c1KubqdMpY46mc07
    *Maxroll Build Guides* If you prefer written guides (that also usually have links to videos) Maxroll.gg is also a great resource. Just be sure to check the ratings of the build to see how beginner-friendly it is.
    maxroll.gg/poe/category/build-guides?filter[build_guide_type][taxonomy]=taxonomies.build_guide_type&filter[build_guide_type][value]=archive&filter[build_guide_type][operation]=!%3D&filter[misc][taxonomy]=taxonomies.misc&filter[misc][value]=poe-league-starter

    • @salendrak
      @salendrak  Год назад +8

      Yeah, lots of guides talk at such a high level that it's hard to understand what they're saying unless you have a lot of experience in the game. I really tried to keep things as clear-cut as possible. Glad you enjoyed it!

    • @taylon5200
      @taylon5200 9 месяцев назад +4

      That's exactly the problem! A LOT of people making guides for noobs mean very well, but they end up using a bunch of game jargon that noobs don't actually understand yet and can make them very confused and hard to follow. This guys vids have been a godsend as a noob!

    I was very close to giving up... This game can be so overwhelming for a new player, seemed like every time I left the hideout I got introduced to a new mechanic without fully grasping the previous one. I've tried to get through many other videos but none explained things well enough to make it click for me until these. Thank you very much for this series, went from getting aggravated to really enjoying the early endgame after watching this series, seriously great work! (ps. I got my first Divine AND Exalted orb from my Righteous Fire exploding random barrels as well today lol)

Ziz’s PoE University, now that I reflect on it, totally fit its name with how all over the places, way too expansive, and random jargon thrown here and there at random parts of his videos the series consisted of.

    This guide was super helpful Salendrak. Thank you so much for giving a base understanding of what to expect and think about.
    I'm someone who finally got to maps and finished the story for the first time, and your video helped lay out a few things. As an "end-game beginner" though, one of the things that would be helpful to know is just simply, all of the moving parts that I can choose from, and what kind of things I can get from them, for example... Heist, Blight, Delve, etc... While I know I have the options to pick and choose what I want to do, I don't know what each of them brings to the table, or allows me to change/craft about my items, and the game doesn't do a good job of informing you along the way... Fractured items for example just looked different and shiny when they first dropped, thankfully a friend explained to me how it worked.
    As a beginner, it can be potentially overwhelming, or maybe you can just be unaware, of what benefits each of the activities brings to the table or allows you to tweak, and all the things going on. Fractured items, veiled stuff, etc, etc (and on top of that some apparently have bosses that can drop specific uniques? If you like farming stuff like that)
    Have you considered such a guide for your end-game info? Given there are quite a few options to choose from, as a "first time end-gamer" it's all a bit confusing and badly explained in game. :D

    • @salendrak
      @salendrak  Год назад +3

      Yup - a beginner's guide / overview of endgame content is something I'll be doing at some point. Might not be for a month or three though, as I've got a few other projects I'll be working on next.

    I can't thank you enough for this guide, salendrak. You have, by far, explained the mechanics for Path of Exile in the most easy to comprehend, foundational manner. I have taken a long hiatus from PoE but am planning to come back to it for the upcoming league on the 18th of this month and your guides have inspired me to experiment for my first run-through and see how far I can get before I am steamrolled and have to find a build guide lol. Thanks for the good tips. Especially describing which is the goal of the endgame was helpful. That's what I've been missing.
    I played the leveling through about 10y ago and now I gave it a new change. I followed my own lightening elementalist build, because that I ended up using last time, even though I started with fire and minions. Leveling was quite easy, except time to time when I made few mistakes, which I was fortunately able to fix.
    After killing Kitawa, everything became way more difficult and in many maps, there's something that kills me with a one shot and I don't even know what it is. My skill tree is not far from some recommendations, but I have concentrated more on damage and less something defensive, because there was no need.
    Now I can't level up nor improve my gears, because cost of everything seems awfully high. To get anything good into six link with right colors seems to months worth of slow grinding.
    I have tried to buy some items, but haven't got answers to whispers or messages and I'm thinking do I miss something or are the all decent and affordable items there just to piss up possible buyers.
    I have Tabula Rasa and couple piece of pretty ordinary crafted items, but nothing even close to those on sale.
    For me, it would be best to know what is in those maps, which kills me in an instant and what I'd need to prevent it from happening. I have 5000 armour, and there's no easy way to get more without seriously compromising my attack capabilities.

    • @salendrak
      @salendrak  8 месяцев назад +1

      Which league are you in? If you're in standard, most items tend to be more expensive than if you were playing in the challenge league. The counterpoint though is that the challenge league is already nearing its end, so less people are playing. At this point there are basically two ways you could go - continue working on your current build, but play areas that aren't as dangerous for you, or maybe start over and follow a good build guide. Either way you'll learn a lot - so go with whichever approach you would find more fun!

      @@salendrak I play anchesters league. I did manage to get forward as I did the cruel labyrinth again and got few ascendance points. I did complete it before but propably missed using Divine font, so it wasn't counted as completed and the next labyrinth wasn't available.
      For some reason, my build is extremely sensitive for something I haven't been able to identity. Propably it have something to do with ability to shock. Since I mainly use lightening conduit, it's very critical to my strength. Now tier 1 maps changed from close to impossible to very easy. I`m still vulnerable, but can kill everything with single shoot. Range and speed is also too low and it's difficult to approach some enemies close enough so I can hit them.
      I wouldn't like to start over, but I`m about 10 refund points away from getting my skill tree to match one build guide. I just need to figure out where I can get those, if possible. Maybe there is some lower level optional missions, but that wouldn't be fun.

    • @salendrak
      @salendrak  8 месяцев назад +1

      @@teropiispala2576 How are your resistances? That's the biggest killer for newer players, especially once they get into maps.
      For refund points, it is worth checking your map for any uncompleted quests from the campaign, as that would help you fix up your skill tree. You could also try trading for more orbs of scouring. There's no way to target farm for them in early maps though, so waiting to get enough might take a while from random drops.

    • @teropiispala2576
      @teropiispala2576 8 месяцев назад +1

      I have had my resistances capped, but it depends what kind of gear I’m using. That doesn’t seem to be the problem.
      I think the biggest problem are the enemies who can reflect lighting damage. It seems that in some maps, I die in an exact moment when I activate my lightening conduit, even if I hide behind the corner out of their sight.
      Overall damage from strike on large mass is so high that even if only few percent is reflected, I die immediately.
      I haven’t yet find a way to overcome this problem. It’s causing annoying deaths in maps which otherwise would be easy.

    • @salendrak
      @salendrak  8 месяцев назад +1

      Oh, yeah. Reflected damage will instantly kill you every time. The only solution is to re-roll ALL maps that have any amount of reflected damage. Reflected physical damage will be a non-issue for you since you aren't dealing physical damage, but elemental damage is a big no for any build that is dealing elemental damage.

    Atlas progression is either 17 nodes to wandering (either side) or full essence. Everything else is mathematically worse progression, (especially center kirac). If you go left side 17 wandering and then branch to get the 5 kirac points (10 % total kirac), this outperforms center kirac wandering.

So it's one of the most complicated ones, but in terms of the atlas you just have to spec into the one thing. Overall expedition is lucrative, and it also drops a wide variety of stuff from basically all other league content so you can sort of get some experience with the other sort of stuff that can drop. May be a bother if you don't have a fragment tab though. It also gives a lot of raw currency, which is very helpful if you're not really trading yet.
      Once you've gotten settled, either block a lot of other content, or use rusted or polished scarabs to force certain content. You don't need to invest into this other content- run your expeditions for the actual profit, and then basically try one other content at a time so you can clearly see what the content is and can remember it. It's harder to remember what is which with it constantly being shuffled- this will let you do the content repeatedly until you remember what it is, understand what it's about, what it drops, and if you like or not. You don't need to spec additional points into it to understand how it works- just understand that it'll usually have a lot more enemies and rewards once you do so it should really only be judged on the basic mechanics.
      You can usually more or less full spec into two kinds of content, so when you check all the other ones out, spec into one of them and see if you still like it. Or spec out of expedition and into something else, or some of those additive ones like essence, strongbox, or rogue exiles. It's also perfectly fine to not spec into any content at all, just focusing on increasing the base number of monsters and power of the maps themselves.

    A little tips on picking a guide. DON"T pick up the skill that do fancy play style. Pick up something with DETAILS how to get there, what skill to level, with details leveling tree on path of building, and most important pick up the guide finished at lv85, not at lv99.
    You can and probably still be a noob with "no" currency at lv85 and most high-end build require expensive cluster gems and tier1 unique. So your first character is better setup just for farming and complete basic target like altar, etc. Leveling your character would be a lot easier and fun with all the knowledge and resource at hand.

      Maybe! I would have to really learn the game first though, but it's definitely possible!

    I respect a lot this game but personally I really cannot put myself on following guides while playing a game very seriously. I need to do everything by my own and figuring out everything alone that’s how I enjoy things. I never hook long in this game for this reason when it feels like I need to follow something I just get bored instantly. If poe was more friendly for people who wants to play blind and learn everything by their selfs without feeling overwhelmed this game will be way more better in my opinion.

      The developers definitely made some polarizing design choices in terms of how complex they wanted the game to be. But what appeals to one gamer might be a turn-off for another. You can't please everyone! Have you tried less complex ARPGs like Grim Dawn, Last Epoch, or Torchlight?

    "If your 2 levels ahead of the zone stop killing monsters"
    Me that was 20 levels ahead in my first character and 10 in my second

      Honestly, I have a hard time following this advice myself, especially in the second half of the campaign. I mean, I can't just NOT kill monsters right in front of me, right?!?!

    As far as chests, boxes and potteries go; I’ve looted about 1 exalted orb (back when they were the next tier after chaos orb in trading currency i.e. divine orbs now) and 1 divine orb in current economy.
    Context: approximately 3k hours played

      Sounds about right! I still think it's funny how I got that divine orb from a pot in Delve when I happened to be recording it LOL
