- The WDR BIG BAND performs "Bossa Nova USA" by Dave Brubeck, in an arrangement by Stefan Pfeifer-Galilea. Solos are played by Billy Test on piano, John Goldsby on bass, Hans Dekker on drums, Raphael Klemm on trombone and Andy Haderer on trumpet. Produced in February 2023 at WDR Studio 4 / Cologne.

Superb band and superb arrangement! Listeners may want to know that this is the title tune from a studio album of 1962, and the tutti section in the first half of the arrangement is a transcription of Paul Desmond’s solo on the same tune, heard on the amazing At Carnegie Hall album from 1963. Inspired!!

Ух, ах! Как классно! Балдею! Деккер не играет, он порхает, как мотылёк. Никакого напряжения! Абсолютно легко и свободно! Я им просто любуюсь. Его мастерство доступно нам, благодаря профессиональнейшей, филигранной работе звукорежиссёров. Кажется, что они способны озвучить шорох тени!

Took a while before the Brubeck influence came in (i'm no musician lol)...had the pleasure of seeing the Dave Brubeck quartet at the Kimmel center in Philadelphia w my son, who's become quite a musician himself.. big fan of Brubeck.....was awesome...those old geezers could play!. Thank you...great stuff as usual!

Brubeck may be "music of the past" but bear in mind, those cats were way ahead of their time and their tunes will never go out of style. WDR big band more than does them justice, and I'd bet that, were the quartet members still around, they'd feel honored to have their music featured by this amazing group. I had the pleasure of hearing brubeck back in the 70s, and now I have the pleasure to hear wdrbb's rendition, what a treat!

Fabelhaft. Wunderbares Stück, gleichermaßen diszipliniert wie entspannt dargeboten. Es versetzt uns zurück in die 60er, klingt aber viel besser. Klasse Sound-Engineering.
