I am Guatemala citizen. This journey has been epic, jumgle, hiking, sweat, adventure un full. I enjoyed your trip. I know mostró of muy country, but Mirador not yet. Success .
Wow, that drone shot at the end is *PHENOMENAL* It's like you're straight out of an Indiana Jones movie! So cool there are spots like this to adventure and discover. I'd never heard of this hike before. Great video guys! 😊
Thanks so much, that’s so kind of you guys!! We love our little drone, such a powerhouse and captures these incredible moments and experiences ☺️😎 if you ever get the chance, definitely add El Mirador to your list!
This is so cool! I remember watching the Yes Theory do a video on this! So cool getting yalls perspective and the hike leading up to this experience 😊 Awesome video!!
Ah thanks guys!! I (Mike) actually saw yes theory’s video a couple years ago and forgot about it - then saw they had signed the wall and memories came flooding back. Such a bucket list experience!
Spectacular adventure, thanks for posting! I can't wait to see more of your videos. What was your guide or tour company? Was it possible to do the full loop to see the other ruins or was it closed at the time?
Thanks, very kind! No matter who you book with, the tour guides are always Carmelita Cooperativa, the locals from the area, and they are awesome! And yes it’s possible to do the full loop, we were just a bit short on time :)
Know im late but do you hike back out or is something set up for that? Sorry if im missing something. Would love to go do this in the future so mindblowing.
@@MikeandStephTravels Thanks for the info def plan on going sometime. Could u point me in the direction of the website you used for booking if possible :)
We actually booked in person whilst staying in Flores. But the only company that actually do the tours are Cooperativa Carmelita. Quick google will find them :)
Guatemala is so amazing. I wonder why they havn't cleared their Pyramids of tree's and debris like they have in Mexico🤔 Thanks for sharing your adventure's with us. 😊
Hi, my best guess with the snake is a Rainforest cat eyed snake, Leptodeira frenata. They are completely harmless. I am a wildlife biology student from Guatemala so I am not 100% sure. I would need a better photo to be sure. I want to congratulate you guys because thats what you should do when you encounter wildlife. Just admire it from a distance to make sure it does not harm you and you don't harm them. Loved your video!
clothes and shoe wise i see may just wear sport clothing and sneakers...what about proper hiking boots against snakes and at all? do you recommend to book in advance or go to Carmelita and book there a guide...im planning to go this month from Mexico
Can I get on the trail without paying and just take a backpack with my hiking gear, tent, filter, sleeping bag, etc? Are you required to use the guides?
yes you can its a national park...but they might prevent you from entering the trail...you can start in La Florida on the way to Carmelita and hike the route backwards...some people have done it by themselves...but remember this is a jungle !!! there are pumas and jaguars preying...if something happens and nobody is near you than you won't make it out alive....no matter how experienced you are....
I've been to a bunch of ruins too. I think the roads being raised are signs of flood areas. Tour guides never agree, but they never have any good answer.
Hi! I can’t remember the agency we booked through, but they all book through one tour guide group called Cooperativa, then you have option of how many days trek you want to do (generally between a 5 and 6 day option) - check it out here turismocooperativacarmelita.com/
So you wasted one of the coolest opportunities to learn about maya religion, atop of one of the largest ancient buildings in the ancient world... by hiring a guide that did not spoke english and going just "si si" when she tried to explain to you the misteries of the ancient Maya. Some people just don't deserve this kind of opportunities :(
Imprecionante y maravilloso Guatemala su clima, gente y gastronomia felicidades por recorrerlo

Verdad!! Incredible sights 😎
When I was there with my 14 and 15 years old kids in April 2019 there were a lot of tours there coming and going. We did the 10 day tour.
Sounds amazing!

2 options:
- hike in hike out over 5/6 days (what we did!)
- helicopter in and out (v expensive)
Enjoy, if you do go! It was an incredible experience

Bugs wise.. i never saw a mosquitoes in your videos. Is it because there is none? Or you wear bugs spray all day long?
