As promised the last and most requested one! A guide for all the coal ships with pros and cons and recommendations! Thank you for all the support guys! We are slowly approaching 20.000 Subscribers on RUclips! You are amazing! Stay safe and healthy :)
While the Azuma is a worse Yoshino in all ways, it is still a T9 long range HE focused cruiser which makes it a very consistent credit farmer if you can stay alive.
When I started playing wows, my clan picked me up and dropped me into T10 CBs immediately. I picked up Salem and it was a good training bote for cruisers. Since then, it's my #1 choice followed by Pommern.
The Pommern suffers from 1. FDG hull, huge target with awful armor. Lots of armor yes, but so thin on the sides that basically everything can slap you for massive damage. 2. Absurd 33 sec reload for low caliber, low pen guns 3. 1.5 Sigma. It could definitely use 30 sec reload and 1.7 Sigma by now.
Thank you for all the break downs, very helpful! Personal preference, I'll disagree with the Agir. It can tank fairly well even if fighting more brawl-y. The guns oddly really like to citadel BBs for some reason; maybe its just luck but my Agir seems to do a lot of dmg to BBs most matches.
This is my second time watching this video. It's so helpful, especially for those of us who take forever to grind coal. I'm finally able to purchase my second coal ship and was wondering what your top suggestions would be? My first coal ship was the Black and I got lucky with a Black Friday crate and got the Napoli. For a while I was leaning towards the Kearsarge as my next coal ship, but will it be affected by WG's plane spotting update? I also saw the Brisbane is now available for coal. Any advice would be appreciated!
Thanks for the Guide. I do have Malta, GK, Marceau, F. Sherman, Napoli, Moskva. Amazing ships to get i could get Thunderer when it was on the armory, but i was starting to play WoWs, now idk what ship to get because i was waiting for brisbane. Maybe a Hayate, Groninger, Immelman or Yoshino can be the next ship on my port🫡
Nice summary. I was surprised of a few opinions here, like the Hayate's. I'd only like to add a little about ship difficulty. Marceau, and Groningen are for dedicated gunboat players only as their slow, high-arching ballistics make them very hard to aim with. Sherman has better ballistics so it's a gentler introduction to the playstyle. Overall the the trade off of their high battle impact is a high skill floor. Kearsarge as mentioned has incredible strengths but it also has 2 major downsides. 1). It has relatively low range compared to other T9 BBs and no spotter plane. 2). The super structure under its armored flight deck catches all manner of full pens from enemies. Combined, these weaknesses make it a mid range ship that can't survive very long there against multiple ships. Therefore, you need to position it differently from most other BBs so that you don't get easily farmed down. Also, yes, Azuma is pretty bad but opposite to the above mentioned ships, it's also a lot simpler to play. There's something to be said for having a relaxing ship that maybe sucks at winning games but has the tier 9 ship economy at only a fraction of the brain cells required to make that money as other ships. Thanks for the list, Trenlass! Bonus meme: Rio de Janiero has hilariously busted guns at its tier. You won't make it to the battle before your team mates suicide but when you finally arrive, it absolutely can win that 1 vs 5.
My first coal choice was between Kearsarge and Pommern as credit farmers, went Pommern first and didn't regret it. Now that I have both, I wish I hadn't gotten Kearsarge. Heh.
Excellent job Trenlass. Loved the feedback from someone who actually played most of these ships. Could you give one suggestion to someone who can only afford 1 and doesn't want to get a cv??? Napoli or Marceu??
After yesterdays video I didnt expect this. The video cuts right off when youre asked to do a coal ship vid and the last we hear is you about to tell chat to f off lmfao. Anyways, glad you did. :D
I bought Pommern and Agir for brawls and now for Asymmetric. It would be crazy to use them in random but in vrawls I absolutely wrecked face with Agir.
do you have any ships you recommend for farming credits? i saw most people recommend the azuma for credit farming because it's t9 so less credit to send it into a game and it's supposed to be able to farm well. but like you said it's made of paper. so what would you recommend for credit farming?
I actually found T 10 coal ships low, mainly cruiser. GK has no concealment, leading it to be a giant pinata. Moskva has a good radar and decent HE/AP, but its armor is so bad compared to petro, so if you've to waste coal, lets play it, but it sucks Napoli is just a gimmick cruiser. DPM are low. HE have low ignition, AP are decent, but they usually bounce on broadside BB, torpedoes are a joke. Salem IMO is a downgraded DesMoines but cause i don't grinded Desmoines i just buy Salem. Imo coal enable you to buy good tier 9 and tier 8 ships, to play them in ranked and grind steel. With steel you can buy good T 10 like bourguogne/stalingrad/malta etc..
I one shot a Borodino with Kearsarge's guns from full hp. It's a very strong ship. Just expect to get reported by half the people you fight especially salty destroyer players.
Sherman is the best DD of the game only if you are a good player and know how to use it. A lot of times you see players pushing a cap and getting rekt just bc they don't understand how to use it.
Ragnar, Frenchies and the Pan EU just shit on Sherman if their player has hands to dodge the abysmal shell arc of the sherman. Meanwhile their own damage is high and precise. The Pan Eu and Ragnar even have radar to turn a sherman smoke against it.
Pommern is fun but I understand why you dont like it. You need to be really agressive and torp people to actually get dmg. The guns suck at range. Tirpitz is mpre accurate despite 8guns only
That makes you exceptional at the Azuma and it's likely you would do well in any cruiser. For most Azuma players though, they'll have a hard time finding the balance between getting dev struck by BBs and sniping from too far away for only 1 pen per salvo.
@@imposterflareon9327 He probably only plays in a Div too. Azuma solo queue could never get anywhere close to 80% win rate, not enough play making capability on its own.

Some book marks on such a long video would be great
Just the video I needed! Thanks a lot Tren!
Have to say the Napoli is the best coal ship at the moment.
When I started playing wows, my clan picked me up and dropped me into T10 CBs immediately. I picked up Salem and it was a good training bote for cruisers. Since then, it's my #1 choice followed by Pommern.
I love the guides so much because I am very confused after returning to the game after not playing for almost five years.
thank you so much for this video, appreciated!
Thank you for your excellent work and yes I have subscribed too.
The Pommern suffers from
1. FDG hull, huge target with awful armor. Lots of armor yes, but so thin on the sides that basically everything can slap you for massive damage.

Thank you for the guide, I really needed this. Was struggling to pick my first coal ship. Keep up the amazing content!!!
Glad I could help!

well I thought :D why not atleast everybody will be happy
Can you do a guide for unique commanders, how to obtain them, and which unique commander should we try to get first, please.
Thanks for the guide, so helpful, particularly for newer players!
Nice could you do one for all the tech tree tier 10 BBs for the current meta. But like summed up from your experience
THANK YOUUU
Very helpful. I wish I could just get more coal! And steel for that matter!!! Oh, and RB points, too. 😂
a couple of things:
neustra can heal torps just as well as full pen damage (this is true for all dds)
azuma has same accuracy as yoshino
I bought Pommern and Agir for brawls and now for Asymmetric. It would be crazy to use them in random but in vrawls I absolutely wrecked face with Agir.
Ägir is ok for randoms, Pommern is indeed trash though
Salem is a beast I love it

@@trenlass809 hmm black and groningen.. i might grab one of those. but i kind of suck at dd's haha.
Which T9 ship would you recommend from credit farming?
groningen, kearsarge etc
I just got em all 😆 still sad people can't get thunderer anymore
Azuma is one of my favorite t9 ships, I like it more than Alaska...
GK is no longer in the tree? Missed that.
Yep

Its a great DD but not the best tbh. atleast imho
Ragnar, Frenchies and the Pan EU just shit on Sherman if their player has hands to dodge the abysmal shell arc of the sherman. Meanwhile their own damage is high and precise. The Pan Eu and Ragnar even have radar to turn a sherman smoke against it.
What ship should i save on?
Vampire 2, ohio, stalingrad etc
i love u
Pommern is fun but I understand why you dont like it. You need to be really agressive and torp people to actually get dmg. The guns suck at range. Tirpitz is mpre accurate despite 8guns only
Just yesterday i managed to get around 240k dmg and a kraken on the tromp. Couldnt manage to win tho :(
Hitting the airstrike is incredibly rewarding
Tromp or u-4501
I feel like I been saving up coal for a ship I want for soooo long now. Like i barely play anymore. So it will take even longer lmao
i disagree with your take on the Azma. played it for over 6 months. and I have 80-win rate with it and over 140k average damage.
That makes you exceptional at the Azuma and it's likely you would do well in any cruiser. For most Azuma players though, they'll have a hard time finding the balance between getting dev struck by BBs and sniping from too far away for only 1 pen per salvo.

my only problem with this video is every time you shift in your chair you dont stop talking so my ears bleed
if i want a ship to farm credit on random battles which should i chose?
Tier 9 and 10
