Dragon Age Inquisition Game Review | Is It Worth Playing in 2024?

- I planned to upload this video last December, but life happened, and I had to opt for posting it today - the first day of 2024! What better way to celebrate the New Year than posting a game review video about one of my favorite RPGs to date? I played Dragon Age: Inquisition long before I played the first two Dragon Age games, and even then I loved it.
Now that I came back to it after playing the first two games, it just got even better! It's not the best game, and it's definitely not perfect, but Dragon Age Inquisition is definitely up there for me!
Hope you guys enjoy the video! Have a great day, and great start to the New Year, ahead!

I just replayed a kinda speed-through run to get ready for Veilguard after 10 years.. and after BG3, Witcher 3, Red Dead, Ghost of Tsushima, and 7 years of ESO… Inquisition still held up. If I’d thought about doing it sooner I would have done several play throughs because it was still so much fun.
Man I'm literally jealous of everyone that's playing Veilguard right now. Dragon Age has always been a banger. Glad you enjoyed your run!
@ Playing Veilguard now… it’s different. Still rad. I loathe one companion, but the rest are cool. Combat is more frenetic, and the art is way different, but pretty. I’m at level 21, got a specialization, but am still getting the hang of combat so my build is probably a little wonky.
I've had my share of playthroughs with all the races and enjoyed the experience, but I wish there were some improvements: a) greater diversity of equipment with more satisfying loot (you collect weak items in droves); b) it would be cool if the upgrades made to the castle had a practical purpose in the story and perhaps at the end of the game to make some special mission more balanced or more difficult; c) I would like the character's maximum level to be higher (50 is a good number) and there were more skills available (the current variety is poor and certain skills are so bad that they are the source of jokes) and d) I would like the Wartable to have more operations and their results could interfere with the plot given the way you manage the Inquisition's resources and the success of operations themselves.
what do you MEAN there are no sliders? there are sliders for everything, you just missed them somehow 😂
oh hey you're right! did a little digging and there ARE sliders. well, that's how you know the video comes from my personal experience 😅
No he didn't miss them...he just spoke incorrectly because as he says that in the video he hit the page where there were sliders and was sliding them bahahah.
My biggest turn off was the UI. Instead of having a cool thematically fitting one like in origins, it looks like a mobile game. Not to mention the 'radar' you have.
great video thanks for sharing I'm waiting for it to download now your tips made my mind up lol👍
Glad to know you liked the video! Enjoy the game, Inquisitor!
Thank you for this video, i just got this game and i feel it will be fun to play through even though i have not played the others. I will stream my plays if you want to see on my channel, keep being awesome!
Thank YOU for watching the vid! I hope the journey through the lands of Thedas fill you with worthwhile adventures! Good luck with the streams too!
I just finished and it was quite an experience but the combat not including abilities is kinda boring but is the first game ive played 90+ in and im starting a new game
Simple answer. Absolutely.
now free in EPic games... lets GO brotheeerrr.. 😀
I know!!! Tons of people about to experience this awesome game!
It waa genius having your champion from DA2 show up. I gave mine the epic ending I thought he deserved.❤. They also turned Cullen into a right old busy body too!😂
Seeing Hawk from DA2 gave me the goosebumps first time I played the game. The connection between the three games really adds to the immersion.
Black Emporium exists for when you want to buy a specific type of materials. It has every single thing in the game you just need the coins which is the easiest thing to get in the game
Hi everyone.
I wanted to ask which version is better, PC or PS5?
Pc. Ps5 is still locked to 30fps, and isn't great on performance even at that. Pc s like a different game
Downloading it now😊
Good luck and enjoy the game!
I liked it, but I would have liked it more if we had less of those MMO style sidequests for filler. I'd rather have them replaced with the kind of sidequests you often see in CRPGs.
I liked the game but honestly i felt more intensly connected to DA:2. I also felt like the decisions in DA:2 had more effect on overall outcomes. In inquistion, sure you can choose mage or templar and the way the story is told is altered but you still come to the same conclusion. DA:I You feel less impact morally than other titles. Also i liked combat in DA:O & weirdly I liked DA:2 combat also (totally different but affective for those games), with that said DA:I the combat feels like a compromise between games 1&2 and therefore gets old and repetitive to me. DA:I does have some cool SIM aesthetics though...i love building up skyhold, judging baddies, gaining new merchants via world decisions, crafting was cool, Inquisitor unlocking new non combat clothing was cool and by far the best iteration of the romance/friend system is available in DA:I. I think the cast of party members is good but felt more connected to DA:2 party. What DA:I does better than the previous titles is look of the world and injecting you into that world. Beautiful scenes. My analysis is as follows: Best story DA:2, Best core Mechanics DA:O, Best Visuals DA:I
Happy New Year! Amazing Review as always dude. 👏
Thanks man! Happy New Year to you too!
im not try to hate but looking at your build hurts my eye great video tho keep it up
I was waiting for this video!
hope I delivered well! let me know what you think about it
Happy new year my guy and really do love the review :D
Happy new year! thanks for the support! means a lot, seriously
@@valmayorbruh hey you're welcome my dude and defently do keep it up! :D
Imo this was a step back, even from DA2. DA1 was amazing. DA2 was disappointing when compared to 1, but still kind off okay, and with this game the series lost its soul. Because at its core this is an MMO. This isn't really a CRPG anymore. You can also clearly see that by what parts they started cutting out. Things like dialogue, characters, items and choices were all down costed. And all that in favour of adding some walking simulator content.
Overall it isn't really a bad game, it just isn't a 'Bioware game' anymore, nor is particularly good in its own right. It's average -- and that's probably the worst thing a game like this can be.
I definitely agree that there are some aspects of the game that make it feel "online game-ish". For me, it was the UI and the War Table that contributed to that thought.
currently just started Pathfinder I mean not really currently, I'm 62 hrs in. but other than Combat, it is everything I want DA4 to be. it is what INquisition should have been
I am biased cause I loved Origins and DA2. Was disappointed with DA2 while DAI kind of helped redeem that disappointment.
but man.... DA4 should really be like Pathfinder. I want that scale, I want that weight, that leadership, the authority.... I want all that pressure on the player to make the right decision
Which Pathfinder? Kingmaker or Wrath of the Righteous? I LOVED Kingmaker. One of the few games in my lifetime I ve played more than 3 times. Wrath of the RIghteous I ve tried once . It's good but I was waiting for the DLCs to stop coming out so I could try it again complete. What I can say is that I prefered the story of Kingmaker more and the whole - your party is outadventuring feel - than the epic, very straightforward , armies marching to kill the bad guys of Wrath.
aint no way this guy is complaining about the fact that he has to control the character and make it 'walk up' to the enemy in order to hit it, instead of it doing that itself.🤯
They did it in the two previous games though.
I bet you never got the Chromatic Greatsword Schematic 😤 You can transfer it to older save files before Trespasser. Just need to synchronize it on Golden Nug ☝️
I actually used that until the end of my Trespasser playthrough, the minute I got it. Way to good to pass up as a Reaver. Kinda dumbed down the weapon selection though since nothing else came close to it.
Yeah I like how it does 2x damage per hit
@@ColossalSwordFormAndTechnique and when your physical damage crits, the elemental damage crits too. Huge damage man.
Whats with the staticky sound effect the first 2 seconds? Gives "nails on a chalkboard" vibe. Instantly made me pause, leave this comment and close the video
My bad. While I was editing, it seemed like a fun sound effect to try out haha. Thanks for pointing it out man. I'll choose the edits more wisely from now on.
All u have to do to speed thru war table mission times is change the systems internal clock lol. So if ur on PS4 change the PS4 time forward that many hours. After you complete quest, revert the time back to normal. Was that not obvious to everyone or did y'all see those 17 hour missions and just assume that you were meant to wait that time bahahahah?
I tried playing the game as intended. I'm sure the devs didn't make the war table with the intent of having players change the time on their PC/Console to skip it. The fact we even had to do that means it was flawed already.
I get your point that there was a workaround for it though. thanks for pointing it out for people who'd like to try this game out in the future
If you play on Hard mode, take only 3 in your party. It adds so much more of a challenge and a lot more tense situations
Ifnyall play PC every dragon age title is 90% off. Ive had origins, but picked up the rest for 8 dollars. Including DLC.
I just got the hole game for 5$ magical aha I used to play this hard years ago but I had no dlc so this is awsome ahha time for a reply
It's a masterpiece. but they should have made the side quests harder to find and less important seeming like in skyrim you never felt pressure to do everything but in DAI it seemed important
I think they wanted it that way to make it seem like the threat was much more urgent/important, but I get what you mean.
Why is that a bad thing?? Making meaningless side quests? Dude then go back and play skyrim.😂
@@coreymckee4844 it's not, but you finish the main story in skyrim and there's still 100's of quests you missed stuff you can still do. you finish DAI and you can't really go back and do anything else.
is this game good ? Oh boy, YES its one of the best games i ever played.
Yeah along with Msas Effect 2 and 3 this is oneo fmy favourite games as well It's my favourite of th e 3 DA games as well. Looking forward to Veilguard
Good video!
Glad you liked it! Love the name by the way.
i just uninstalled this game after really trying to play it for the last 3 days... it just really bad
the combat is horrible
It takes a while to get used to, definitely. Combat isn't the best part of the game too, I have to admit, so I understand.
Such a pity to see how low Bioware has gone. DAO was just perfect.
Dragon age inquisition the game were I did all races male and female all weapon classes and platinum out the trophies i still play it till this day but my all time favorite build has to be rouge dagger/archer and i played with the trails on as well
I did not like vanilla DAI. The DLC are good to great.
The vanilla DAI story isn't written well. The writing of many of the villains makes them seem about as sophisticated a children's cartoon villain. The greywardens were written as feckless to just absent idiots. The rebel mages just made no sense to what they were. The writing concerning the mages was really really really poor. They had a cool story point where you find the tranqils are being horribly murdered and the game just WTF immediately forgets that that was part of the story. You have to choose either mages or templars and luckily the templars writing is perhaps the best of the games so far. It forces me to choose templars because the mages storyline just isn't playable as written IMO.
The open world is mostly pointless bad MMO like filler content making the 100 hour gameplay a big negative instead of a positive. The war table had much better tasks we couldn't do than the open world, waste players time, content. In a perfect world it would have been cool to also be able to play as inquisition subordinates to do war table tasks and the lesser open world exploration saving the main character to choose tasks that were meaningful to their place in the story.
Companions were amazing as usual for bioware. Music was 10 of 10.
The graphics are often stunning even by current standards but the world and gameplay feel at times as soulless as the tranquils murders that nobody cares about.
I hope I live to see this game remade someday. DAI could easily be as good as Witcher 3 or BG3 if the open world, poor story writing, and other issues were fixed.
I played DAI through twice but I'm going to try to head cannon that I never played this game so I don't have the greyspawn, rebel mages, Tevinter, and vanilla DAI main villain existing as so poorly written in DAI. The main character without a real origin felt slightly forgettable anyways.
I'm hopeful DAD will be good with all Bioware has learned from their previous games.
It wasn't worth it on release, and it's still not worth it.
Dragon Age has been consoloided, and the games just get worse and worse because of it.
Interesting take on the franchise. I hope that Dreadwolf redeems it for you.
This game was basically a single player MMO... It felt soulless, wooden... I couldn't finish it because it was just so dull.
DA: Origins was the masterpiece... DA2 was losing its grasp... and Inquisition was just terrible.
Can definitely see what you mean by that. I also felt like it had some online game elements that shouldn't have been there.
I hope Dreadwolf des better at making the game feel more like a cRPG
@@valmayorbruh If they take a look at BG3 and realize the DAO style is still super popular, it might be saved. But I won't get my hopes up anyhow.
@@blacksunapocalypse I actually just started okaying BG3 today and damn I really hope Dreadwolf has similar gameplay
@@valmayorbruhorigins and bg3 are very similar art wise. I know i bioware made the first too bg games but i love how Larian kept the art style. instantly reminded me of origins
This game was the absolute worst of the trilogy.. Terrible in every way, including the companions.
Not being able to customize your weapon choice, makes the classes "unique"?! You have no options! And ontop of that, the classes offer maybe 20% of what they had in Origins..
I'd say it's a close call between Origins and Inquisition for the top spot. I'd probably put Inquisition up there though cuz I like the companions more.
Either way, thanks for sharing your take though. I understand not everyone shares my opinion. have a great day ahead!
I question if you have played either of them. Nothing you say makes sense. Your opinion is yours and I wouldn't say it's wrong. Your statements are factually incorrect though. You are not entitled to your own facts.
@@SilortheBlade You cant choose weapons. Youbget you staff, or your dahger, or your bow, or your sword and shield, or your 2 hander.. no 2 set, no crossbow with your battle axe, no bow as a backup for your rogue, no swords maces or axes for your rogue, no sword for your mage, no dual wielding warrior..
You had primal, spirit, elemental, creation, arcane, and entropy trees, each with a dozen spells.. Then 2 specializations, of which there were 5 choices (with the expansion).. In Inqusition, you had primal and spirit trees.
You do not allocate attributes, or even have skills like lockpicking, herbalism, speechcraft, runecraft, additional tactics, etc..
Ive completed origins over a dozen times, and have 400hrs in inquisition.
Now, Where was I making my own facts? Please, do tell
I disagree. I absolutely love this game! I love the camera options, the war table, story, switching between characters at will.. it is such a great game! I just started playing it in 2024 and am absolutely enjoying it. I hope the next dragon age doesn’t take away from the party aspect or the ability to go into tactical view… so good!
@@anisopiavision the party system has been in the game from the very first Dragon Age game. In fact they've actually lessened that aspect of it and made it overly simplified. If you like it in inquisition, it's far more tactical and in-depth in origins. Even Dragon Age 2 has more tactical options for the party-based combat. It barely functions in Inquisition, and in fact, youll be fighting your ranged characters feom koving into melee range. Cole will always be dead. Bull and Cassandra constantly run off screen, and most of the abilities just dont function with the incredibly limited ai, unless you manually micromanage.
Youre not wrong for liking a game. But what you like about it, is done much MUCH better in origins, and even 2.. aside from the wartable.
