Such a shame researchers can't buy it easily since it's such an important substance. Some notes. I haven't tried tried it but apparently adding iron rust and I think sodium hydroxide can act as a heat catalyst which lets you dry distil it. Otherwise for the chemical method. Usually you'll want to heat the hydroxide, cinnabar and sulfur first to let it turn into a polysulfide, it'll go red, the liquid that is. Then it eats a ton of aluminium. You'll also want to get your ratios correct, that gets a better yield.
