Wes, I had the honor to work for your Dad at this stage of the game. It was great to meet you. Looking at the most recent video and pictures, "Persistence" appears to turning out into quite the lady. .

@porpoisefathom We are going to go with the watertube for now as it is substantially lighter than the firetube (1200# vs 4800#), takes up much less space, more efficient, etc. We will be burning wood and oil, both of which I can get for pennies on the dollar, if not free.
The engine(s) that we have are both just about right for her size, perhaps even a bit underpowered. As long as we at least go hull speed we'll be happy. No real "work" for her other than possible trade for dock space.

Thank you Tony. We're currently waiting on the propeller shaft to be machined, then we'll install the boiler and main engine. We've been machining new parts for the Doty compound as well. Incredible, what a dream come true! What about coal as a fuel source? With marine fuel going through the roof something like this could do inter-island passenger or light cargo duty on a coast somewhere and probably do okay.

I like both engines I prefer the French one for looks but the Canadian one will have more power the first boiler looks better the second one I don't think will suit the steam requirement anyway great job your father has produced an amazing boat
