Yes you are right, the hijab isn’t a must, you should be comfortable with wearing it, and if you aren’t, take it off, Islam doesn’t force you to wear a hijab but it is encouraged to be modest(as in don’t wear tight or revealing clothes that could attract the opposite gender) and it’s for both Male and Female, everyone needs to be modest.
