    On the escalation comment, I feel like the dramatic irony of us knowing they murdered a bunch of people and hid them somewhere before playing innocently like the children they actually are continues tension-building. As you described during that time, you all were uncomfortable and waiting for the other shoe to drop. I mean, it also serves to remind us that they aren’t just killer animatronics. They are murdered children who are losing their identities after 15-20 years. That’s another layer of horrifying.

      People forget that horror movies don't have to be jumpscare filled gorefests to be a horror movie. The Subject matter is what also makes a horror movie. A serial child murderer who was never caught and still on the loose, plus the ghosts of children being trapped inside the animatronics who are influenced by the man who murdered them, on top of that Serial Killer coming BACK for another child? That's horror right there. The fact that the tension felt watching the movie was almost even ramped up during the most chill, wholesome part of the movie (the fort scene) goes to show that at least for some people, it's an outright horror movie. It doesn't deserve the hate it gets just because it's not another boring slasher flick that's only about shock factor and gore. I appreciate the movies that succeed without the gore and jumpscares more.

    Minor detail no one cares about: I'm spanish, so I saw the movie in both english and spanish.
    But watching this reaction with subtitles on made me realize that the song the animatronics played during showtime wasn't random 80's song and had a hidden meaning behind, like the lyrics saying "I can hear the things that youre dreaming about" or "The secrets that you can't hide".
    Which I mean, yeah, it's pretty straight forward, but for foreigners, I have a difficult time hearing the lyrics while music is playing, so didn't catch those. And even then, the song didn't had subtitles on the cinema, so there's that.

    IDK if anyone else in the comments has said this already, but I 𝙁𝙄𝙉𝘼𝙇𝙇𝙔 remembered that the girl who played Vanessa in this movie ALSO plays an important role in one of the seasons of an 𝘼𝙈𝘼𝙕𝙄𝙉𝙂 TV show that I REALLY WANT y'all to get into!!! And of course, I'm talking about Once Upon a Time!! Yes, it takes a while to set everything up in seasons 1 and 2, but seasons 3 and 4 are 𝘈𝘔𝘈𝘡𝘐𝘕𝘎, 5 is good but it REALLY picks up again in season 6 and then for S7, in my opinion, just watch the last 2 episodes! But even with its problems, OUAT (Once Upon A Time) is still one of my absolute favorite tv shows of all time!! 😍😍😂😂😊😊😊

    Me and my two best friends who are all fans of FNAF since middle school, now having jobs and being adults, we were going crazy during this movie. The small references were great.
    At the end when they played the credits music my jaw dropped to the floor. The Living Tombstone is one of the most beloved videogame music producers, and to have his music at the end was AMAZING! So glad this movie was finally made after YEARS of being talked about and speculated.
    Some things I wish was implemented though; Phone Guy, the classic animatronic night shift where the guard has to protect his own life by closing the doors at specific times and checking the cameras, and finally, I wish the REAL Michael Afton was the protagonist. He should have been William's son, which would have made the film much more emotional and grounded. Vanessa is fine, but I think she works better as a split-personality cult follower of Afton in the future, not as a normal cop.

    The low reviews the movie got are from critics who don't really know the lore behind this franchise or "fans" who thought this movie will be only scary and scary. Even the director of the movie said that this is mainly aimed to fans of the franchise.

    The funny thing is, most genuine OG fans loved it. It was wanna-be's who didn't. People expected this to be gory or super scary when that's not the only factor of the games. This movie was great in my opinion. Also, a lot of people forgot that this wasn't just based on the game lore but the books too. They did well, to be honest. So minor things could have been better but no movie is perfect. Can't wait to see the next one!!!

      The reason to why fnaf got popular is because unlike the most horror games and movies, it didn't need to be gory to be creepy, the original FNaF games played more with the spooky atmosphere of having animatronics hunting you down at night and also the backstory.

  • @freddyfzd

    As someone who has been a fan for many years I loved this movie I think in the beginning the it was going for a different duration. I like how the movie went deep into the animatronics by saying Hey these are kids they aren't just killing machines they still have emotions just saying this movie does go deep if you really think about it.

    Glad you re-upload the reaction, I didn’t have a chance to watch because it was mid term at that time. If you want to understand the movie, you can watch Film theory of course. Also cool fun fact : the 8 bit intro spoils the movie alone because both the people who play William and Vanessa have their name purple and the rest are not; and the name Matthew Lillard is next to the yellow rabbit

    In a lore sense. This movie did it ok. Not good but not awful. As a movie for newer fans and people just enjoying it, its GREAT. I love it. I understand the criticism of the movie though. It didn't really follow the games. But i think its a good movie as its own thing instead of trying to compare it to the games.

  • @chaoticroomba

    Glad to see you guys enjoyed, i find this movie to be exactly what it should, casual and fun horror that tells the story in a different, more streamline direction compared to the games, the many references to aspects of the games and movies as well as two of the more prominent figures in the fnaf youtube era also made it very enjoyable for me as a longtime fan of the series, and the retelling of the story in an easy to understand way made it just as enjoyable to some of my friends that have never gotten into the series before, i'd give it a solid 7.5 or 8, could've been better, but it's definitely one of the best game adaptations to date

    In the game lore, the way that Afton lured the kid who would become Chica into the back room was by telling her her dead dog was still alive. So the common theory is that the Cupcake is possessed by the dog.

  • @AlanomalyOfficial

    I do enjoy the movie, for what it is, but it does suffer from being the first movie. It can't jump headfirst into the deep end of FNAF lore, so everything that is known about Afton, like all the stuff in MatPat's timeline video, can't really be discussed so immediately, it works better being sequel material. My thinking is sequels will handle the adaptation of the deep lore where this movie really just wasn't able to by principle of being a gateway movie.

    Im an all-things horror and Halloween fan, including video games and movies of course. I am not joking when I say this is my favourite horror movie that has come out in years. So many are just part of a series or are so predicatble and/or stupid that I can't watch them. I was actually pleasantly surprised that this movie wasn't gorey. Too many horror movies and games today ham up the gore and jumpscares (even fnaf is guilty of the jumpscares) but the fnaf movie being so unique in its premise, story, and teen rating made it refereshing. It stands out among all the pther horror movies I've seen recently. At the time, even the game itself was revolutionary in its premise and mechanics: there was nothing like it at the time, which is part of why it became popular. I think the fnaf movie is the same way. And it can be enjoyed by children, too, as a nice introduction to horror for the future goths, horror heads, and Halloween fans.

    I really loved this movie. Its not really a good movie, its mostly just fan service. but as a big fnaf fan (who also knows that the movie is supposed to be in a difrent canon from the games, and is fine with the movie being pg) i absolutly loved the movie. I watched this in a purple guy costume with my friend, and we almost cried from exitmeny over the matpat cameo and refrence, got super energetic when william afton said "i allways come back". And just straight up cried when the living tombstone's fnaf 1 song played in the credits. Amazing to hear the best, first and most classic fansong make it to the movie.😊

    It makes me so happy to see people who aren't big on the games that enjoyed this movie and are looking forward to the sequels.
    One of my favorite parts is the fact that they balanced every corner of the fanbase. Some people really like the light hearted goofy stuff, some people want a gorey messed up film, and they hit a lot of those points in one movie. I wanted it to be a bit darker, but the way that they handled it absolutely proved to me that it can still work with those lighter tones intertwined.

    I loved the movie for what it was, and I never wanted it to be perfect in the first place so I’m happy :) it gave me everything I asked for: clever kills, a bite scene, a springlock scene, likeable characters, and a really fun story. I can only really think of 2 things it lacked but both of them are possibilities for the sequel. It would have been fun to have a markiplier cameo but I can forgive that because mark was busy, and it would be cool if there was a scene with Freddy’s music box but that’s a pretty minor thing. I really really enjoyed this movie.

    I did like the movie and I will give it a solid 7/10. The only problem I would say is that this movie is made for fans and it requires alot of knowledge before hand to fully understand what’s happening. That’s why the critics give it a low score and the audience score is much higher.

    As a person who has played the games and watched others play it, along with reviewing multiple people’s theories on the subject (mattpats included 😅), I really liked the movie and how it portrayed the characters so far. Do I wish the pacing of the story was better? Yes. Do I wish there was more gore and William Afton doing his usual things? Yes. But was it bad that bad to have multiple people hate on the movie and compare it to the rest of the nonsense the franchise already has just to say “this isn’t fnaf”? No, and infact I would say that this movie gives peeps a baseline understanding of what the franchise generally is along with keeping it interesting as well.

  • @ironencepersonal9634
    @ironencepersonal9634 6 месяцев назад +2

    You're right that it doesn't follow the lore *of the games* to a T, though I don't think it's angering fans of fnaf, and in fact I'm pretty sure that a lot loved it. We already got 2 different continuities between the games and the books, the movie is just a 3rd. I think the low reviews are just as a result of the fact that this movie wasn't really focused on bringing in an outside audience, it was more focused on appealing to the already existing fans. That's why critic scores are generally very low.

  • @Rock_Starzz
    @Rock_Starzz 5 месяцев назад
