Here is Part 21 of my Creating A Great Tone Series for our Line 6 Helix. This is the second part of creative use of an expression pedal, but this video focuses more on the creative use of dual expression pedals to hopefully show just a tiny bit of what is possible with our Helix with two external expression pedals conncected. I hope you all enjoy and can gain a little something useful from the video. Thank you so much for watching and please subscribe to my channel if you are so inclined...
Excellent. Perhaps my favorite video so far. Been watching all of these but not necessarily in any particular order...
Jason, excellent as always! :-) I use 2 external expression pedals too and almost always Exp 2 as volume and Exp 3 as delay/reverb/wetness. It's a technique I took from my pedalboard that was inspired by how Steve Morse would dial in his delays. Love the control. Kick it back to get clarity in my solos and push it forward to accentuate certain phrases and make held notes soar. (or frankly, push a little in to cover some more difficult parts if I wasn't feeling at my most comfortable on a given night ;) ). I keep the Exp1 for everything else, like gain or wah, etc.
Thank you so much fisch :-) So many great possibilities with a couple expression pedals! Nice that you have a great setup like you do :-)
B-Stock is currently $100 USD
Thanks for this, Jason. Great job!
My pleasure and thank you :-) Good deal on those at $100!
It's wonderful, so many possibilitys !!! Thank you so much !!!
Great video Jason
Thank you so much Jerry :-)
You can build solid expression pedals from broken cry baby’s, fairly cheaply. Search for strymon’s guide. If you have a soldering iron and a mechanically sound was enclosure then you’re good to go.
Hey Jason, could you maybe do a video in the future on dual amp/dual path routings??For instance, running two separate amps on two separate paths....I haven't figured out how to do this to my satisfaction....much like running two amps in the real world and being able to blend the two together....or one amp left, one amp right, with separate FX on each.....Love your videos...I have learned so much from you.....the routing thing just gets a little confusing...
Thank you so much Scott and glad you are enjoying the videos :-) I will see what I can do on the dual amp thing!
Awesome stuff as usual. Would you be willing to add the first time that changes the amp settings with exp 2? I love that sound!
Thank you so much Ryan :-) Sorry, but I am not sure I understand your question here, were you asking if I can share that preset?
Jason Sadites wow I just read my own writing. Horrible. Yes would you be willing to upload that preset to custom tone that changes from clean to dirty with the expression 2 pedal? Sounds great, looks like fun. Thanks again
Haha, no worries Ryan :-) Let me see if I still have the preset when I get back to the studio computer and I can throw it up there :-) Keep you posted!
also, it would be nice to be able to use logarithmic for the expression (outside of volume pedal) instead of linear. Or is there a way I missed?
Yes it would and I don't believe it is possible yet at this point!
Great vid! Can I assign exp1 pedals and exp2 pedals to control a different parameter in each snapshot of one patch?
Thank you so much Dario :-) I don't believe that can be done unfortunately!
Can you set a parameter to be controlled per snapshot and by the expression pedal simultaneously?
I do not believe so Paul, but I could be wrong!
