About Mickey Gilley and Johnny Lee
Country pianist/vocalist Mickey Gilley shot to fame with his musical fusion of country, rock, blues, and R&B. Long associated with the urban cowboy movement, Gilley racked up 16 number one country hits which include “Room Full of Roses,” “I Overlooked an Orchid,” “City Lights,” “She’s Pulling Me Back Again,” “True Love Ways,” “Stand by Me,” “That’s All That Matters,” and “You Don’t Know Me.” For many years, Johnny Lee worked as a back-up singer and trumpeter in Mickey Gilley’s band and was a guest headliner at Gilley’s Texas nightclub. Lee’s easygoing vocal style can be heard on “Lookin’ for Love,” a million-seller hit and the musical centerpiece of the 1980’s film Urban Cowboy, filmed on location at Gilley’s club.
Johnny no one can sing that like you! Love you Johnny!!
Johnny Lee your still lookin good
I am so happy to see Gilley recovered from his illness. And his voice is as good as ever.
he's got a bit older and slower , but he can still bloody sing that song, l can relate to his song as l am a little bit older and running out of time and have found the man of my dreams, Steve from howtohunt, l have been out there looking and ogling at him for a couple of years now, but bloody RUclips have put a bloody stop to that, by stuffing up his channel with long boring patronizing personal ads that insult bigger people, you can't get the bloody things off. The ads are so long you sit there twiddling your thumbs, you can go and make yourself a bloody cup of coffee and still not miss some of his video, l can't believe that they could do that, l miss him and l will have to go outside now in the damn cold and cut wood, it sucks, lolXX
steve, i would stand by you matey if you would stand by me, forever matey, LOLXX
Lovely lovely voice!!!! Favorite for years!

GREAT TO SEE THEM TOGETHER AGAIN.....AFTER ALL THESE YEARS...SOUNDS GREAT
True County Music even at their age, they can knock out these so called new country stars.
These new stars can walk the walk of Shame because in my opinion, they will never stand up to Johnny, Mickey, George Jones and Strait, Elvis, Ray Price, and all I grew up with.
God bless them for answering their call from God to spend their lives entaining us all
Johnny still has it! Love his voice!

Yeah my brother just happen to be there while they were filming the inside scenes and he got to see John Travolta and Deborah Winger because he had moved down there and one night decided he wanted to check Gilley's out and drove into the parking lot and saw all these trucks but he had no idea that they were filming Urban Cowboy there and he walked inside and saw a bunch of cameras around and he still didn't know what was going on until he saw John and Deborah and it hit him.

Seen Mickey Gilly and Johnny Lee when they brought the show to River City Casino In St. Louis a few years ago! It was Great!
They were supposed to be there again this summer but it got canceled or postponed, I dont remember now. I was hoping to go to that one as we should be back in MO by then to attend. I'm friends with his keyboard player and have never gotten to see MG or my friend perform, especially since joining the Urban Cowboy Band. 😔 one day soon hopefully!
Country music at its best and THIS is the music the CMA thinks is no longer “cool!”
Mickey reminds me of his cousin Jerry Lewis 😅 yeah get it Micky he still got it doesn't he 👏👍👌🫶✌️❤😊
GREAT, GREAT COUNTRY! Song's lyrics are sooo true. I think most people start out looking for love in all the wrong places & people. Hopefully, once learned what you DON'T WANT, wise up & appreciate a good person.

Love this song
Still sound good!!! Two of my favorites!
Great memories
Brings back a lot of memories, those are the days
Yeah suck a blessing to hear him sing this. 🤠 I have a Etsy shop and I’m in the mist of making Gilleys tee shirts (old bar shirts). The t shirts will have the red band around the arms and neck rest of t white. Also making baseball tees 3/4 arm length tees, where the arms are red and red band around neck also bring whiteish everywhere else. The guys I’m doing red lettering the girls I’m doing a red glitter. Trying to stay vintage style. Should be pretty neat.
Th white dude be good but my homeboy Mr Gilley is my fav country singer. He is from Natchez Ms met him in 89 he treated us like we was his own kind.
How I remember Mickey singing that song many times. And Johnnys club was just right down the street. Remember free Gilly beer that bull always gave me a run for the money always had a good time Mickey thank you
WOW!!
I sat with his band last year at the Hitching Post in Apache Junction, I ask them how long he would play that night. They said a hour maybe 2, just depend on when he wore out.
