I mean do actually like it and not knocking it, but you could take a Robert Frost poem, input it into this software and out comes a song, which doesn't mean Robert Frost was a good piece of music writer lol

    Funny thing is… it was Richie’s Grandmother that had a direct influence on the name of the group, as her favorite song was ‘Deep Purple’ , originally an instrumental piano composition written in 1934, with lyrics later added in 1939, the same year Larry Clinton & his Orchestra had a #1 hit with it. Later Billy Ward & His Dominoes as well as April Stevens & Nino Tempo had a hit with it in 1966.

      Don`t think thats correct April and Nino did sing it but i think its the 1939 version of "When the deep purple falls over sleepy garden walls" is what richies grand mother might have enjoyed did Bing Crosby have some input around 1939 ? um!... might have cheers

    Yes, I remember them during the financial collapse of 1955. They were playing late in the American National TV before President Charles Lindbergh announced that the country is already in Civil War. The band was also famous in the other side of the ocean in Germania.

      There s a double cd with that stuff. For now some music rings in my ears but cannot get the name.

    Fun fact: The Deep Purples once shared a triple bill on Dick Clark's 1956 Cavalcade of Color Rock and Roll Show with The Pink Floyds and The Black Sabbaths.

    I've got Deep Purple In Rock on 8-Track cartridge. I used to listen to it in the car along with Uriah Heep, Quo and Queen. Great driving tapes.

      @@keeneyes2573 I had a '66 Ford Cortina Mk 1 Station wagon with a quad 8-Track. In summer I would belt out Led Zep, Quo, Suzi Quatro, T-Rex and loads of others. I had, (and still have), an 8-Track recorder so I could make my own tapes.

    This is an Effing Hoot!...I saw Deep Purple on August 31,1972 at Gaelic Park in Upper Manhattan... I gotta admit 52 years later I never thought I would hear their music done in this style...Whoopee!...Gene Vincent, and Bill Hayley Live!...Do these guys do "Machine Head" also?...PS, Opening band for Deep Purple that evening Fleetwood Mac, pre Lindsay Buckingham and Stevie Nicks ( I liked the 1972 band more)...Christine McVie vocals on "Black Magic Woman"...Most people think this is a Santana original...Nope, it's Fleetwood Mac's Tune!

    Another fine entry in this unique series. As the late Johnny Carson would exclaim, “Weird, wild stuff!” I like the subtle use of keyboards on this particular version of The Deep Purples: subtle, not absent or too overwhelming.
    Now it’s “Kissin’ Time.”

      For the cover art alone thumbs up are due. For the music, the witty idea and performance, tenfold! However, this is all fun and humour, but when Robert Plant, Jimmy Page and others actually had done The Honey Drippers thing in 1981, it was plain awful confronted with what we'd expected from these guys. At least I did not consider it funny, rather ghastly instead. Then again, I was 16 at the time.

    I’m so glad they gave up their seats on the plane that night. Sure I feel bad for those that didn’t make it that night because I heard that Buddy kid was no square. Thank God they decided to walk away because that would have been the day that the music died.😢
