Thanks for watching this video, I've fallen a bit out of schedule recently. For anyone wondering about the tunings and effects I'm using, I've listed it in the video. All sounds are from a Boss Katana and a Cry Baby Wah pedal. The Bass sounds are from GarageBand.
Yeah, the fact that he using his guitar like a DJ using deck/turntable is mindblowing even in today standards. I remember first time, when I heard RATM debut album and I couldn't believe it. And don't forget about Tim Commerford. His basslines are sick! In "Township Rebellion" bass sounds like a chainsaw!
First, I agree that Morello writes awesome riffs, but I also think that some of his solos kick ass like Be Yourself, I am the Highway. Those of course are with Audioslave not RATM. He also puts kick ass parts in the beginnings of a songs that you think oh, I can see him creating a solo out of that, thinking he will but he doesn't. It's still cool. Listen to Know your enemy. The one that Maynard sings on
Sleep Now In The Fire is like one of those riffs that just sounds elemental, like it's always been around, it's just that nobody managed to put it into sound until Tom Morello. same type of thing as Smells Like Teen Spirit or Fast Car
Always loved how simple that Vietnow riff was (influenced by Helmet if I recall from an old interview with Tom) and how the distortion and filtering makes the guitar sound like an actual little radio. Then the start/stop drums carry the on/off lyrical theme even further. Maybe their most overlooked great song.
Renegades of Funk is a great song musically, but man does it have some of the worst lyrics De La Rocha ever wrote, haha. Anyways, I'm sure it was a lot of fun learning all of Morello's...idiosyncratic techniques. No kill switch, though!
Nothing more satisfied than watch a Bloxsy_ Video playing the best Anthems of a Rage Generation🔥

The fact you included bass here is very much respected because Tim Commerford is such an overlooked bassist
Tom might not be the best soloist, but damn, the man knows how to write great riffs

So THAT'S how People Of The Sun was recorded! Morello was such a great outside-the-box guitarist.

Tight Blox. Always tight.
Thank you!
This is how I started playing. On a Spanish guitar, sitting in front of a tab on the early Internet in 1997, playing RATM riffs! Nice job
welcome back =)
Wonderful as always!
(He has quite the Bass players approach to guitar hasn't he?)
I know what you mean. The way the riffs are played, they're like bass lines in a way.
@ yup👍
Thanks for the video as I really wouldn't have made that connection had I not seen and heard it together
No problem. I hadn’t really thought of that either until you mentioned it.
Great work as always!
Once again, you nailed it
Thanks man
On God, these are the 14 greatest Riffs of all times.

Back with something raging...SNiTF has a very powerful riff, bass, drum & vocal mix, easily one of the best
