    Like I said, I'd rather own a RAV4 hybrid but I think the Trail and the equivalent hybrid as equally fantastic. What's your thoughts towards the regular gas model and the hybrid version?

    • @gregpatterson134
      @gregpatterson134 3 года назад +3

      I think I need the better off road ability in the Adventure model and miss out on the better mileage of the hybrid. I’m still hoping the awd system in the Adventure is as capable as the Forester. Many video reviews show it is but a few videos show the Rav struggle a bit but I wonder if best settings were used. Thx again for the input as I try to decide which car to buy.

      I prefer the hybrid model ALL day long..... I agree with all your points the matter. Maybe that's why I purchased a new Rav4 hybrid XSE last summer..... absolutely love it so far. Only wish it had TPMS.

    Just curious why you didn’t mention one of the most important features of the Trail, the mechanical torque vectoring system ? Does it make it better in the snow, that would be really valuable info for most Canadian buyers.

    Great review but a few things are missed.I was just at the Vancouver auto show and talked with a Toyota big shot and he confirmed my suspicions that the trail does have some TRD parts and the steering is not the same as well as the bottom end gearing.So its better in mud and snow but city fuel economy isn't as good as the regular RAV 4 let alone the hybrid.

      In my experience, I haven't had anything to be concerned about in any of those mentioned cars. I take all of my testers up the same gravely and snowy road to get pictures. If there was anything drastic I felt during those drives, I would mention it in my videos. If anything, the Subaru's traction control is the most alert

    Thanks for a very good review. How would you compare this to the Forester? I like the historical reliability of the Rav4, but if the AWD system is as good as the Forester, this could be the better choice. Also the higher towing capacity, this could be a little more robust vehicle. Thanks for any feedback comparing this to the Forester.

    • @maxlandireviews
      @maxlandireviews  3 года назад +4

      Although I like the Forester, it definitely isn't a refined or as modern as the RAV4. Noticeable more wind noise in the Forester, and maybe a few more hard plastics. I will definitely take the Toyota over the Subaru

    Love this review, thanks for such a quality and thorough job. I'd appreciate help as I'm deciding between this car and trim vs Forester. Do you feel the higher level awd system in the Adventure trim is on par with that in Subaru? I love the Forester, but can't get past the potential worry with problems with cvt and oil that just doesn't seem to be resolved. I need this purchase to be trouble free daily drive on country dirt/gravel North Georgia road where I need a light off-roader with mileage. I need this car to last over 100k with reliability of my past CRV and Rav's. Thanks for any help.

    • @ABSVabeautifulsunsetvlog
      @ABSVabeautifulsunsetvlog 3 года назад +4

      I have this exact variant 2019 version (see my review) and have since put 36k miles on it and have had virtually no problems. There were some issues in the beginning but those were promptly taken care of and I’d recommend this over the forester because of the cvt and potential issues down the line. I take mine off road fairly often and that is where the AWD system shines when you throw it into rock/dirt mode. Don’t think you can go wrong with this one though.

      I have a 2011 Rav4 and I have 104,000 miles on it with very little problems. Alternator,front wheel bearings,battery,brakes.The shocks and struts are going to be replaced soon. It’s been a usual Toyota,dead reliable. Oh,it’s got the 3.5l six.

      @@fw1421 we have the same car that I bought new and recently gave to my daughter , great car, just need awd now. I'm seeing so many problems with this new 4.5 . I love the new car and it looks to perform better than subaru, but I need it to be reliable as my daily driver as I drive all day for work. The fuel pump problem is the current issue and the verdict is out on the fix actually working. Hate to spend 35K on a car then have significant issues. It almost makes my look at 2011 v6 awd with lowest mileage and do the typical expect repairs that will be mild. Arrrgh, I just want a reliable new car with awd. Thanks

      @@gregpatterson134 If I wasn’t retired and had the room in my budget I would buy the new Rav4 Hybrid but the old one has been so good and the body is still perfect I can’t justify buying a new one. My Limited V-6 fits me perfectly. I went to the Toyota dealer and looked at the new ones and I don’t think they have the room in the front that mine has. The headroom is lower than on mine and I have the sunroof. I’m gonna keep the old girl until something pricy goes and then deal with it. I love not having a car payment. My ex had a Subaru wagon back in the 90’s and it was rock solid reliable until it snapped a cam belt on a road trip to DC on 4th of July week end running 70 on Hwy 95. Luckily the valves didn’t interfere with the pistons. It happened before the recommended replacement of the belt so Subaru picked up most of the tab. If I didn’t have a Toyota I would have a Subaru. Good car company.👍🏻

    • @gregpatterson134
      @gregpatterson134 3 года назад +1

      @@fw1421 yes, the older Rav is bigger and better cargo space and just feels more solid. The v6 we have seems like new and so powerful. I've not seems good models for sale less than $10k. But , I'm wonder if I find one in good shape then have 10K or less to put into it returning it close to new? But love the new version just nervous with reliability. I love the Forester too but windshield issues abound and pricey, then past 70k miles possible cvt/head gaskets or get lucky and it runs great. What to do?
