The leftover pellets may have been moist and did not ignite. I have always used fresh dry pellets and have not had a problem.
hmmm-I'm in the desert-but will use fresh tomorrow. thanks.
Push the Woodfire Flavor button...
thanks will do it next time.
You shouldn’t have to push the button when you select smoker. That’s why it said IGN at first.
@@thahn3257 I've learned the pellets that come with the unit aren't great.... some people say to put in the microwave for a couple minutes then add to the oven.
Definitely will be trying this one Lisa
I'm going to try this again -I did a pork butt the other day and wrapped it in aluminum foil when it hit 170F then cooked it to 203F then let it sit in foil for a good 30 minutes to 1 hr-oh my it was so moist -so I'm thinking to do the same with a chuck roast. just a thought. thanks!
looks delicious Lisa 🍽
Thanks for the video. I can’t compare apples to apples as I have the woodfire grill xl pro, (process should be the same). But looking at the amount of fresh pellets left from the last cook, I would assume that the pellets took on some moisture. My leftover pellets typically burn most of the way out. Also, I would dump out the leftover pellets per the possibility of moisture. Keep the content coming!
I have the grill and I've had the same issue it all smoke up for a minute or two and then cut off when this happens. I just turned the unit off and hit the reset button. I started hitting the reset button before I started it up and it seemed to help the button should be on power cord also make sure it's facing away from the direction of wind.
Thanks for another video Lisa that meat looks so good. I love smoked meats
thanks Sheryl! it was really good and so tender. So I do plan on experimenting with other tough cuts of meat-like a round roast just to see how it comes out. and a few other recipes.
Hey Lisa- While I don’t have the oven, the process should be the same as for the WoodFire GRILL.
Select Smoker mode, temp, time, then press “Start”.
Chances are (as someone has already mentioned), the leftover pellets from a previous cook may have been exposed to some type of moisture, preventing pellet ignition.
Hope you get the issue resolved.
I always start out with a fresh load of pellets on every new cook on the grill and discard any pellets (if any) leftover from the previous cook.
Lisa, that roast looks incredible. I hope you get the machine to smoke because that would have probably took the roast up a notch more.
Yeah-not sure if it's me or the appliance-picking up a pork butt tomorrow and trying again. thanks Stephanie.
I just tried mine out for the first time to make pizza with wood fire smoke and it didn’t smoke. I held down the ignite button 2 times more and it still didn’t ignite the pellets. Bummed for first try.
You have to fill the pellets all the way to the top to where the pellet door barely closes
O my. That's cooked alright.
What to do with it? Pull or slice it and fill an artisan bread roll with it and a squirt of mustard and bbq sauces.
That's what I'd favour.
Yes something isn't right with the pellet igniter. I would have taken a few out of the box and manually lit them with a lighter, then put them back in as you would a smoking tray.
I hope it's not an operational failure needing the appliance's return.
Well the meat looks absolutely delicious.
I hope you enjoy every bit of it.
Cheers Lisa 👍🤤😀
it was amazing! I made beef tacos, quesadillas with cheese and this lovely meat-artisan bread sandwiches sound delicious! horseradish mayo-yum!
I'm going to give it a try one more time this time overfilling as best I can then if it doesn't work I will call Ninja kitchen. I wasn't sure if it was me again.
Hope to pick up a pork butt and will definitely light it by hand if it doesn't ignite. thanks John!
@@pressurecrisp Goodo. I hope that works.
I wouldn't mind a bit of pork butt and crackling in a bread roll with gravy.
It's a favourite that most non branded takeaway food outlets and most club and pub bistros have on their menu here in Australia. Very popular and damn tasty.
I'll make sure I have a clean Bib when you're carving up your pork butt. 👍😮😉
I gotta go to Australia for the food and overlanding the outback! @@johndavis7944
@@pressurecrisp You'd love it.
Have you tried actually pushing the Ignition button?
I wouldn't recommend aluminum foil. I always used it in my other smokers and ovens BUT when I used in when cooking a pork rib and it was the worst mess to clean. The foil actually stuck to the pan and was covered with pork grease It took forever to get it clean. It peeled out in tiny pieces. Also you cannot place it around the sides as the tray won't slide in. Would use a foil pan next time. Hope you get your pellets to light as it really gives a nice flavor. Have found out not to put the food in until a good 20-30 min. to take away the acrid white 10:12 smoke. Look for blue smoke and then put your meat in. Enjoy your videos.
thank you so much for the tips! I'll get some foil pans. plus with the pan I can add some moisture -like stock or beer while it's cooking -hmmm....I need more people to feed. I'll try your meths when I do the pork butt. thanks Sharon-really appreciate this!
I too had that problem with foil in a non stick pan a long time ago, it's like the foil melted to the metal
I had to throw the entire pan away in the end, as no amount of gentle scrubbing would get the bits of leftover foil off, any harder and scrubbing even gently with a cloth, was starting to erode the non stick coating.
I haven't used foil in probably a decade or more now
Not sure what the fuss is about foil but trying go clean the pan without it is very awkward as its heavy. Ive always used foil and it works great even at high temps.
Lisa, I just did a search for you and the gal I watched said to select 1-select cooking function 2 click would fire button 3 time/ temp /stop...hope this helps.
thanks I will give this a try when I do the pork butt this weekend. I hope it works-wonder why the book doesn't say it in the recipe
The thing is, is that when you select the smoker function, it automatically ignites. The light automatically lights up and the ignition process starts.
You have to make sure you fill the pellets all the way to the top if you don't it will no smoke
I did that but I changed to a different pellet and have had no issues -so I'm thinking a bad batch of pellets. thanks for the tip
looks good, now I want a bbq :)
I'm enjoying this oven-tomorrow is a pork butt-butI want to try bread or maybe a baked item-coffee cake or something just to see how it does. thanks celle!
@@pressurecrisp well did not get my bbq closed for maint. I was just looking at some bread recipes here at youtube..yep I am BORED lol
oh no!!!! Think I want to get a sour dough and try making that for fun. Worked on Jeep today will bake tomorrow-@@celleduffel1533
@@pressurecrisp my sis and I have both tried making sour dough starter and we cant do it..I have given up. I sure love it tho and hubby is not a fan of it. 'what did ya have to do to the jeep?
yeah Chris has one in florida and I forgot to grab a bit of it. I'll see if I can find some out here somewhere. Working on the bumper. @@celleduffel1533
okay I got the manual out look for page 44 and follow the directions on the opposite page and you should be good to go and this is for using the recipe for the chuck roast no preheating for Foolproof BBQ Smoke Recipes
thank-I'll go back over it thought I read the directions correctly-gonna be doing a pork butt tomorrow-we'll see what happens.
Perhaps you need to press the ignite button
It automatically ignites when in smoker mode. 👍
Yep. That’s what she is not doing
I still wonder where the ignition bit is, is it on the bottom or the top?
If some are blackened on the top, but not the bottom, then that seems like an odd place for an igniter
If you don't get any results from Ninja, one think you could try is perhaps adding a very small amount of bbq lighter fluid?
You could measure the right amount out in a small container and spritz them with a little fluid, put them back and try again
No idea if that's a good or bad idea though lol
its on the top..I'm going to call tomorrow and see what they say another viewer left a comment that they really didn't help her her so I'm of course fired up-lol. I will see what they say and get back to her. I didn't do the pork b uttt today maybe tomorrow-I will see if it lights
@@pressurecrisp I would still apply a few drops of bbq fire lighter to it, it can't hurt to try if all else fails.
Does seem like an odd system though, I mean you don't light BBQ's by lighting the coals on the top, you light it UNDER the coals for the chimney effect.
yeah Cooking a pork butt now and the pellets wouldn't ignite-I'm thinking a bad bag of pellets and I tried to light them by hand nd they wouldn't light. Going to call Ninja Tomorrow and explain situation-I didn't have any lighter fluid@@averyvaliant
The extension cord you are using looks to small.
Not exactly worth $400😢❤😂😮
