I feel the same way regarding people preserving their traditions. I’ve loved in Saudi Arabia for over two decades and have seen the change in the adherence to traditional culture be it from the sedentary agricultural Saudis or the Bedouin. Thankfully, outside the three mega cities, there are still people who protect and transmit their traditions to the youth.

Hi Andrew - great videos and luv the Aussie Bush. Would however recommend anyone embarking on these outback tracks to carry at least 20% more fuel than they calculate they need - just for safety. You never know when a road may be closed or impassable and you have to make a detour, or the track may change or deteriorate requiring the use of low range more than expected and thus use more fuel or any other of a dozen possibilities including a vehicle loosing boost or restricted air flow (split air hose etc). Just a hint.🙂
I'm not a hater...honest. I'm glad Andrew is driving this road so I dont have to! 1000kms of relatively flat, rough dirt road with nothing different to see after the first 100km. I've done a little driving like this and it gets to the point where all you want to do is stop driving.

That convoy could've moved at least a few feet more off the road to let you by. Accidents do happen, especially on sand and mud where the 4wd can slide and hit the other car, or worse a pedestrian.
Bogans. It didn't seem like they realised it was the world famous ASPW😠🙄. I would have immediately invited him to spend the evening with us, wined and dined him with my best cuts of meat and bottle of wine. It would have been such a privilege.

G'day Andrew, Mate I was told many years ago that the Camels that were brought into Australia are some of the Purest (Not interbred) camels in the world, & that at some stage back in the 1970s some of them were actually sent back to the Middle East by a rich Sheik to re-establish a thoroughbred "Pure" camel. I dont know how true any of it was but I have heard the same story from multiple people over our 45 years of wandering the outback.

I still do not get the messages behind that and think it is worth and super interesting 🤠👍 Yes with bigger sticks you can sit closer but air flow etc. etc. really a very interesting new thing 💡 Thanks for sharing and teaching also to your friend 👍
Looks like a good home made camp site to me your in the bush alone perfect just point vehicle into the wind , your car is more set up comfortable than mine I'd be happy with just what I've got there , that's what happens on camping trips and exploring all about getting lost back tracking and throwing dead lines out the window 😊

Andrew, have you done the northwest coast of WA? It seems so beautiful from the satellite but it seems you haven't done much of beach content, is there a particular reason? I bet you can do it, get some amazing views of those incredible landscapes, even on winter so it isn't so hot and the views are still there. @@4xoverland What to do if I got stuck is a dominating thought to many solo overlanders leading them to be overcautious. Seeing what experts do when unplanned trouble rises, is always beneficial. Like your experience in Makgadikgadi pans in 1993 a masterpiece!

Not sure if it would interest you. But if you swapped your patches so that the flag is on the left and “unit” (channel) patch on the right, you’d be consistent with Australian army standards of dress.
You know @4xoverland I would use a 360 cam for in the car then you can do the framing afterwards so you can have the same camera recording you, your passenger and whatever is outside then just move the camera around when edit.

Hey Andrew You mentioned that you liked listening to audio books while driving at around 18:40. Since there is bugger all else going on around you on those outback tracks, why don't use use Apple's AirPods in your ears to listen to your Audiobook playlists. If you purchase the latest version with noise canceling, this will take care of the background noise and help place the sound (spoken word) directly into you ears. I found this very valuable when project managed the teams surveying the Gina Reinhardt rail corridor in 2011 - no tracks, solid 4WD everyday, it also meant that I f one of the cars called me I'd get the call directly into my ears making hands free phone calls/driving much easier when dealing with 4WD tracks! Ok, so maybe you're not an Apple guy - I believe they can be paired with Android phones. But I'm sure some Bose Buds would work similarly well! Oh and get your drivers door adjusted as it is bouncing around and the rubber seal is not always contacting the door frame (~15:00) . You could probably adjust this yourself with the right tools - 3-5mm should take care of it. Always use your dune flag in the larger brush you're in and also fit a flashing orange light for use on heavily trafficked dirt roads as they do in the mines - as the light cuts through the dirt and makes vehicles more visible in such conditions, as I'm sure you know. Stay safe
I have Apple pods with noise cancelling. Used on one trip and will get rid of them. Very uncomfortable, get lost too easily, keep falling out of my ears. But I would never use them when in the bush, because when I'm in the bush, I prefer to hear the bush. I want to hear what's around me all of the time.

All work fine, fit well, and give me no issues other than they are too easy to drop and lose! LOL. They do have a 'transparency' option that allows you to hear exterior sounds. Lol. Those bogans destroying the dunes with their loud Nissan Patrols, wheelspinning everything into oblivion, probably think they're overlanders. Even semi trucks driving from one city to another are commonly referred to as "overlanding" rigs.
Many sections of this track belongs to aboriginal tribes people and there are many areas that are considered sacred, and I respect that. If there were no rules, Australia would be covered with 4x4 tracks, like some of Namibia and some of Australian's over-driven coastal areas.

The track is most probably the "best" way to cover distances for them, as it's sandy and they've evolved to thrive on sand. Why would they run through the bush when there's a convenient track to travel on?
Some context is required here. As I said, either chase them off the track to prevent them injuring themselves or drive normally and have them die of exhaustion. Or stop and die myself. No turning around because not enough fuel. As for not being their by choice? They wandered onto the tracks. They are wild animals. And also extremely destructive to water sources which they often destroy, depriving other animals of water. Camels were introduced hundreds of years ago and were very valuable to the early European settlers in Australia.

We call those corrugated roads 440 roads. You can go 4 mph or 40 mph to make it smooth.

I have a 360" camera. And it works for some stuff. But not for audio. And images are distorted and ugly.
