That is a very interesting product for the IC-705!! I see that it might provide a bit of weather protection for the radio/tuner as well...a lot of time and effort went into coming up with that design/product. Thanks for sharing!
The tuner is somewhat weather sealed, the 705 is not.
Will be nice when they start supporting something other than the 2 most expensive portable radios on the market.
Price is off the hook, but watch the whole video and look inside, Battery included, Fuse block, this is really complete, lot of value when you look inside.
Looks like a great idea and I would love one for my 705 but it's out of reach for me. It's $500.00 US dollars and by the time you convert that to Australian Dollars it's $755.00 then add upwards of $75 plus dollars for postage, import duties etc and it becomes well over $800.00 here in Australia. That's almost half the cost of the radio in the first place.
He needs to add a 2nd SO-239 for the 705 enclosure so you can chuck a duplexer in there. I often have a 2m/70cm beam and an HF antenna connected to my 705. Yes this could be done on the outside but it would be cool to have it inside the box. I do not like running 2m/70cm through the tuner in bypass mode and would rather pull those bands out of line right out of the rig.
You could mode this and do that yourself really.
I’m actually not sure how I’d split that out because you’d be blocking HF then.
@@HamRadioCrashCourse You go IC-705 > Comet CF-530 duplexer (for example) > the 1.3~90Mhz port goes to the tuner, then HF antenna & the 125~470Mhz port goes directly to the 2m/70cm antenna. Then when you switch between HF and 2m/70cm you do not have to swap coax.

Nice piece of kit for ic-705 owners. Though I wonder: Would the metal enclosure affect the radio's Wi-Fi capabilities?

@@slappomatthew while I bet you I hate Joe Biden more than you I don’t think that’s the problem in this case.The problem is that people make a couple of holes on a piece of aluminum, buy some electronic parts in bulk so they get cheap, a bag from Amazon, put it together with zip ties and then want to charge like they are selling an HF multiband radio! And to make it worst “Ham people” have become so lazy that instead of enjoying build stuff they pay for everything and of course the seller can ask for any ridiculous price and will sell them all. That’s the issue here. I’ve build a bunch of stuff like that and even better and that price is quite insane, but again, lazy people will buy it like is the most amazing invention ever created after planes.
