Great video! It is very interesting how you handle the deer on your farm. As I can get in touch with you, I would love to ask you questions personally. I'm from Mexico
@@farmandranchlife5075 Perfect! There are many things that I would like to talk about. But in time we will see. The main thing is that I have a great friend with an all-natural white-tailed ranch and pure species from the region, he is producing a very high quality of deer for conservation and a few adult trophy, but I can see that in your videos the deer have a spectacular mass and horn color! How can we achieve these results? They have protein food and water all year round.
@@estebanperez39 We are in an area known for good genetics historically but as mentioned we have come a long way with the herd after many years of intense mgt. We have been feeding pellets for over 25 years and have extensive water distribution across the entirety of the ranch. We have a feeder per 150 acres average across the ranch and water per about 250 acres. What I believe we are seeing is the epigenetic shift or response to generational feeding by raising the nutrional plane for decades. Thus fawns are being born to very healthy mothers then on a high nutritional plane throughout their life. Do this for decades and the entire bell curve of quality improves. Where is your friends ranch? I do a thread on a site called Texas bowhunter called " A year in the life of a farm" and go into a lot of detail on our mgt practices if interested .
@@farmandranchlife5075 Of course I know that the region is very important, the ranch is in Nueva ciudad guerrero near the Falcón dam, an equally good area. And on the other hand, I don't know if you have a ranch page or if you rent the ranch to go hunting. I would love to get to know and learn your strategies.
@@estebanperez39 I know your area well. Used to dove hunt there back before the bad guys took over camp. I''m up the river in Coahuila. We do no commercial hunting just family and friends. Simply stated , the key is year round protein supplementation , extensive water distribution and very light buck harvest not shooting any 'trophies before 7 but usually 8+. Many of our deer die of old age. The same principles work in your area as I know several folks managing quality ranches in that area
We use protein from the coop in Piedras. No name but it is a formula we designed for them to make. Same in La. no name pellets we designed. But I think both L & E and DD are excellent products
@@farmandranchlife5075 Everything has been getting crazy expensive in Mexico also. We're downsizing 1 protein supplement station for this year. Our Rancho is in Tamaulipas across Roma Tx. in Mier 2000 acres Have a nice hunt Rusty ✌🏻
That's an interesting comment. I grow potatoes. Russet Reds, Yukon gold, Russian fingerlings, even blue potatoes from time to time. They are pretty easy to grow and we have big 'harvests' every year. Bucks on the other hand; not so easy. We have only received 1 1/2 " rain this year. Deep drought. The habitat looks horrible and this will undoubtedly effect the deer herd. Die off? Who knows .Mountain lions have killed a whole bunch of our best bucks over the years. Bucks kill each other every year. And the list goes on. I wish these bucks were as easy to grow as potatoes but certainly hasn't been my experience. Nonetheless, while we take quite seriously any buck we decide to chase, I frankly don't care if its called 'harvest', trophy, killed the ba****d or what. Part of the process.
hello sir.....beautiful ranch and program you have. Do you do any hunts off the ranch? If so how would someone go about getting info on a hunt? Thanks Chad@@farmandranchlife5075
It is surreal to see these beautiful animals coming out of the fog or cresting a hill. What a joy to see! Thanks again Rusty!
I had a ranch for 17 years in Texas and love to see these videos. Great bucks you have.
Some outstanding Bucks!
Some of my favorite videos of the year. Love seeing what y’all do with both ranches every year. It’s been a blast to follow along here and on TBH.
Thanks

Come on Rusty upload the Video for 22-23 😃
🙂Coming soon to a RUclips near you. Probably work on it in July. Was a very good year
nice buck pop that bad boy to much playing around on that camera
What type of supplement feed “protein” do you use in Mexico? We have been using L&E and bring in some double down when we can.

Do you still have any fields of Durana clover?
I have Durana on my farm in La. The only thing I've been able to grow in Mexico is oat but only when there is water for irrigation
When you kill these deer, you can say harvest, cause there grown like potatoes.
