A very COSTLY mistake…must replace everything! 💰 💥

Quick lube, added petroleum, oil, product to brake fluid mistakenly. Due to the location of the brake fluid reservoir it is often mistaken for power steering fluid.
Brake fluid is non-petroleum based and the rubber brake system seals will all be destroyed by petroleum and therefore the entire system must now be replaced. Ouch $$$$.

Brake fluid eats everything. I'd flush and go.

That will work fine….for an extremely short time. The rubber seals in the system swell up after they’ve been exposed to petroleum products. System will never be 100% until it’s all replaced.

In this situation, all components with internal seals must be replaced. It pretty much means everything, except for the hard lines gets replaced… And then the hard lines are flushed and reused unless they have an incorporated hose.
