      QoR Payne's Grey or White Night looks just what I want to me. I have more neutral PGs already, but bluish ones, without being as indigo - definitely would love to have more.

    I loved Heroes in the first season, but as the seasons went on I liked it less and less.
    This piece is stunning! I'm pretty new to watercolor, and I'm always to inspired by the loose, flowing way you paint. I'm used to working in acrylic paints, learned from my grandma on ceramics, so the fluidity of your work is just so different and elegant compared to what I instinctively do. Watching you always gives me an itch to paint.

    • @arleebean
      @arleebean  4 года назад +7

      Yeah, the show definitely changed over time, and not exactly for the better. Once you get too deep into time travel and things, it can be hard to maintain something enjoyable lol

    • @SylGordon
      @SylGordon 4 года назад +1

      @@arleebean I agree with the time travel. Other than doctor who, of course. I remember hearing that it changed a lot after the first season because of the big writers strike that was happening at that time, so all new writers were brought in.

    Beautiful, beautiful piece, i love the glowing orb effect! my favorite paynes grey is schmincke's paynes grey bluish; i don't like their regular paynes grey because its just a dull grey, no blue hint to it at all, whereas the bluish version is a slightly more muted indigo, fantastic for shadows!

    My favourite part of any painting is when you pull that masking tape off and there is a gorgeous crisp border framing your work like a jewel! I can listen to podcasts while painting, but not when drawing. Drawing requires my full attention, so no music, no podcasts, no blah, blah in my ears, thank you! This is a really dramatic palette that suits the subject perfectly. Perhaps rather than shying away from work that takes days to complete you should embrace it. I think my best work always comes out in the pieces I struggle the most with. The reason why there is a struggle in the first place is because I am doing work that is pushing the boundaries and resolving those problems within a work is what elevates the work above those that often come easier.

    Payne's Grey bluish by Schmincke is one of my all-time favourites. I use it for night skies, deep sea or shadows (and other stuff), mainly when I need a really dark colour but black would be to harsh. (Indigo would be a nice colour to use for that too but as it is not that lightfast I prefer Payne's Grey bluish.)
    And yay for the Doctor. I think my favourite is the tenth Doctor although I really enjoyed the later episodes with the trio of him, Amy and Rory.

I also watched Heroes way back when, and remember loving that series... makes me want to go and try to watch it again now hahah! Anyways, your vids always inspire me to get better at watercolors and just art in general, I completely understand the whole beating yourself up while painting/working on a piece, the whole “I know I can do better than this if I just put in the time to learn” XD I really should try these limited palette challenges - I need to work on color mixing/color theory and overall just how to put together a piece that looks harmonious. I hope one day I’ll be able to have a good grasp on this medium like you do, thank you for being a gift to the art community 💚

I am sure I learned quite a bit but I longed for the days when I could use whatever colors I wished! I fell in love with watercolors because you can mix an unlimited number of colors so easily and so quickly too! I am trying to get into Soft Pastels and I know now why I avoided them all these years! But I Am determined! I hope you have a lovely holiday too!

    "Save the cheerleader, save the world." I loved the original characters and storyline (and the way the show was built like comic books), but it jumped the shark so very many times. Still, it was great and what I wanted to see when I wanted to see it. I adore Payne's Grey. My favorite so far has been, surprisingly, Blick! They have a pretty solid line of paints and their sepia, Payne's grey, and cobalt turquoise are my go-to favorites. I have a muted palette with these 3, indigo and an oxide yellow and I adore it. I love the way these paints interacted and I am looking forward to trying it out!

  • @MelanCholy2001
    @MelanCholy2001 2 года назад

    Lovely! My favorite Payne's Grey is Senneliers by far. Then COTMAN. (Then Holbein, though I find that one to be sort of light-valued?) I know PGs are supposed to be "blue-leaning", but I just picked up a tube I've been wanting (brand withheld) and it was like, pb60 😓 I love PB60, but I wanted this new tube to be "Payne's Grey". I got a blue/indigo/indanthrone.
    I also think a good PG should be sorta "flat" unless intentional water splash: no cauliflowering, no granulation, no mica 😂 just a nice, easy-to-work-with _payne's grey._ Sennelier is just my favorite. I got to this video because after this disheartening purchase today, I wanted a watercolour video with PG, and I don't have your kind of lovely imagination, but this is exactly what I needed to not feel so bad about a bum purchase. That's how I'm here! I'm actually going to try to copy this (it's so out of my "comfort zone") but this painting shows the strengths of a good PG, and I need a "pick me up"! Thank you.

    Woah so nostalgic talking about Heroes. Lol. Back then I'm such a fan. That Zyla guy was totally my fav villain on tv shows. But at the late seasons, I started to feel disconnected to the show idk wky lol. But also love the power of that musician girl. So ethereal.
    And i love this color palette in your art. It's mythical imo. ♥️

      I totally agree, Sylar is a very interesting villain! I'm excited to watch it all and see his progression again. :]

    For me it’s a really close race between Daniel smith and Qor, but I think Qor wins out. I also have a bit of a soft spot for Windsor and newton because that was the first Payne’s gray I really played with.
