tell me you dont get this song without telling me you dont get this song... this transcription has a number of errors. in particular "come to life" should be "come to the light", "golden in the dark" -> "golden in the dawn".
I've been around a few years but this is up there with my most favourite house tunes ever. There's a few older artists who have brought out music again recently and they've been really really good but for me, this is Dj Shadow's best song he's ever produced.

I checked out the album and this song was one of the lowest rated, what bollocks , best toon without a doubt.
It's the most poignant song. It's Satan talking to an angel in Heaven. They're getting ready for The Fall. Listen well. In a White Room in a Gold House at the Dark End of the street. The Angel in Heaven tells Satan he's right, nothing is ever going to change, all the other angels have joined the rebellion and he's stayed behind. All the leaves are golden in the dark......

This is a song that me and my partner hold dear, this is one of those songs that held significance over our story- he helped me get out of my mental funk and grow and like-wise, now aren't blind and have become better people since we've met. To some degree, it's become our love song.
