Excellent making it clear the difference types of boards as well as the deep dive into the Nord Stage 3. Your video have really opened my eyes about the differences in the main keyboards I've been looking at. I can see no one board does everything or have the sounds you want no matter what you choose some aspect of the board will be a compromise. So having multiple boards is the answer or for what I thinking what I want to do maybe using my computer and libraries is the answer. Thanks you always give me something to think about.
I love how well you explained the different "categories" of keyboards. I am not a performer so now I understand that I probably want an "arranger" keyboard instead of a "stage" keyboard. Very much appreciated!!
Great video as always. I can already hear you in the future. Is...the Nord Stage 8 easy to use....Is the Kronos 4 the ultimate! Would love to see some more Kronos videos.
Hey Darrick. A very well presented video. Did notice a few dry skin patches on your palm, hope you're doing well. Question : Do you believe the Genos's 5000 dollars is justified in comparison to other arranger keyboards that have similar features? The only reason I believe it has that price point is because it has 28 effects slots and has a bit more processing power than the Montage since it came out a year later. Not to forget it also has an organ engine. What are your thoughts. Please let me know. Kinda bugging me that arrangers cost way more than hardware workstations and some analog synths.
Arrangers typically cost more than workstations and synthesizers. I don't think it's the effects processing power that drives up the price though. The Montage can handle 34 total simultaneous insert effects, two system effects and a master effect all at the same time. My guess is all of the "preprogramming" is what you are paying for. Now, do I think $5000 is overpriced for a Geno? I'd have to say no. This is because the Genos (and other keyboards that cost over $1400 or so) is designed for the professional and serious hobbyist. A professional should be being paid. So your work pays for your tools. Carpenters will pay top dollar for reliable tools. A professional musician is no different. The serious hobbyist takes their hobby so seriously that they are willing to pay for the best. So yes $5000 is high but it's best in class.
Sampling and lead effects, I would go with either a Korg Kronos or a Roland Fantom. The Yamaha MODX or the Montage are great additions but they do not have samplers onboard. But the effects contained in the the FMX and AWM2 sound engines are very good. A budget friendly option could be to use the sample editor that comes free with a Nord Stage 3. It is easier to use than both the Kronos sampler and Roland's Fantom. Nord has some great effects and a pretty powerful synth section. Then you could buy a MIDI controller of your choice to control all of the lead sounds.
Awesome Darrick! Thanks for the shout out too! Nice to see your RUclips numbers jumping these days - keep up the good work!
Your channel is certain the go to channel for all things Nord! Thanks for stopping by Marc.

Thank you so much for demystifying all these knobs and buttons. I’m considering the Nord Stage 3
They are very expensive here in the US now. They've gone up in price considerably since I made this video! Thank you for watching, I appreciate it!
I have a suggestion for a video.....could you review and explain the arpeggiator in the MODX? How to and what for ect.......Thanks!!!!
I love nords but i keep finding the pianos/sounds sounding a bit thin other than their rhodes sometimes

I love how you keep interrupting yourself mid sentence by busting out a cool riff.
😄
What would you say is a good pairing with the stage 3 as far more sampling and lead effects?

@@darrickkeels6387 You can use John Melas software for adding custom samples into Yamaha Modx and Montage.
