      Because he used MLK as an example on the right way to do things, when MLK was arrested 29 times mostly for... protesting? Ever read his "Letter From Birmingham Jail," or Dr. King's "I Have a Dream" speech where he highlights police brutality and says that this country wrote black America a check which has come back marked "insufficient funds?"
      No, didn't think so.

      Since the title of the video is about the national anthem, and majority of the video about players protesting, one might assume you're talking about the main topic, not a footnote about Jesus in a 10 minute video.

      Jesus was not a protester. Jesus was a savior that changed the hearts of people and taught each individual he came across to turn from a life of sin and to live righteously. He did not start or lead riots or protests against the powers of his time. He simply traveled and healed hearts, minds and souls as he went. Dabo is correct. We have a sin problem. Jesus called both the religious leaders of the day and the lowliest of society to repentance, godliness and change. THIS is why Jesus is the one common thread that can heal us of all these problems. We are all in the wrong through his eyes and need to change...not just white people, or just black people or the cops. EVERYONE has work to do to bring about change for the better.

    I was against what Kaep and others were doing until I heard Dabo coments. Now that I know its getting to him and people like him maybe Kaep has a point I hope Kaep keeps protesting because the message is reaching who it needs. Some people are really clueless to whats going on in this country. Some of these same people complaining still have confederate flags hanging somewhere in their closets and still talking about patriotism. And using MLK, Jesus, and Obama as excuses as to why you think everything is ok? Telling people to leave this country? Where do you want them to go? Really? Is that what a degree from the University of Alabama taught you Dabo? With all due respect Dabo you have the freedom to express your points and just like you I have the freedom to tell you you are WRONG on this one.

    • @kellycollins4074
      @kellycollins4074 8 лет назад +5

      Are you for real?? He is respecting those people that chose to make these decisions. I can assure you that Dabo is not hanging a confederate flag in front of his house! Yes- MLK would be proud that our country has elected an african american president, among all of the other things that african americans have done in this country. There was a time when (unfortunately ) that was only a dream......

    • @oxdhaoxt3694
      @oxdhaoxt3694 8 лет назад +2

      Why is the black president thing always the go to point to disqualify every racial issue? Anytime somebody uses that point you loose all credibility because it shows your either not educated enough to speak about the issues or you are just too set in your ways to even consider than somebody else different than you might be treated different because of that. The president was elected because he was the better candidate at the time, it might not seem like that now but the other candidates were just not good enough.

      That is not what he said at all. Listen more carefully before misrepresenting what he said. He said, "Some of these people need to move to another country." In context, he was talking about what the solutions are for the problems facing America and society. Among the things he listed was tolerance, education, love and Jesus. Anyone not willing to embrace these things to work for change might...MIGHT need to leave the country. Because if all you want to do is protest, cause divisiveness and not be a part of the solution, you probably are just going to hinder those of use here who do want to work towards solutions. Those are my words, but I believe that was the context for saying that some people should leave the country. He was not saying anyone who wants to protest should leave the country as you tried to accuse him of.

      He keeps saying, "I hate to see what is going on in our country." The huge problem is that he is clearly NOT talking about any of the problems our country is facing, but rather the fact that *people are actually complaining about these problems!*
      Basically, "Yeah, this country ain't perfect, but if you don't like it then you can get out!"

  • @DisabusingTheLeft
    @DisabusingTheLeft 8 лет назад +3

    I am a Gamecock, and I agree wholeheartedly with everything Dabo said in this conference. We have a sin problem in this country and sinning bigger through riots, looting, stealing, and vengeance only fans into flame race relations for the worse and causes more problems. There are many, MANY better ways to deal with the remaining problems, but we cannot ignore the monumental progress that has been made either. Thank you Dabo for not being afraid to speak your mind and speak from the heart. You are a good man...even if you are a Clemson Tiger. ;-)

      No. That is not correct at all. Jesus went about healing people and and teaching people to take the high road when opposed or ridiculed. Jesus showed an example of how to behave in kindness, gentleness and moral uprightness. He did not lead riots. He did not lead protests; especially against the government.Please do not misrepresent who Jesus was.

      So you have to change the focus of your own claim in an attempt to win your argument? Weak!!!
      I think it is obvious that I am referring to the riots that break out in the swing states every time a black person is shot by police. And Kaepernick's protest is about these shootings, Is it not? The 2 are mot definitely related.

    I actually respect Dabo for this interview. Do I agree with his opinion on how 'some of us' need to go to another country or how 'some' should protest, not even in the least bit. He will NEVER understand what it means to be black in America. He's not capable of doing so, unless he walks a day in a black man's shoes...and what white man would want to do that??? BUT what I DO respect him for is the fact he stuck to his faith. Unfortunately, white men ALWAYS want to bring up MLK. Less they forget they wanted him dead AND KILLED HIM because he was a 'radical trouble maker' who was labeled a 'terrorist'...just like the Black Lives Matter movement today. How in the WORLD did BLM become a 'terrorist' group? Because someone convinced you they were. Dabo has since started listening to his players, because of his faith. I just wish Dabo's fans would do the same.

      even if he did still he spreached Jesus and peace and love and unity and preached against sin and hate and bigotry so on. plus unlike BLM he planned his marches. on roads and bridges. but as for BLM they block highway traffic and prevented ambulance from taking a patient to hospital. and prevented people from goin to work and prevented people from goin on vacation and visiting family so on and yes are all BLM as dum as this no not at all but their is some who do these things and loot and in milwaulkee they where attacking white people out of the blue. whoever they seen walkin by they attacked. this is not MLK style of protesting. he had dreams and now though he only seen a portion of those dreams if he where to witness everything the way obama runs your country he be disappointed. and also MLK preached on to overcome the problems blacks and whites who are married to blacks and or have a black brother or sister. do you realize that any white man or women who mingled or married or where friends to blacks where called the N word and called black even though those whites who married or friends with a black man are not black yet they where considered black the N word. and many white people throughout history wilbur lincoln and john newton an ex slave trader fought against slavery. and now that we have come this far it seems to me people now wants to go back to the old ways. and many people listen to the liberals way too much. unlike trump hillary clinton failed to reach out to mexico and the blacks. and so on. like obama hillary wants thousands of immigrants illegal immigrants into this country and many isis members are using this as away to get into your country. the very actions BLM are using to protest goes against everything Martin Luther King stands for.

      Mark Miller
      Yeah, I'm totally with him on that part. My issue is when he's talking about how he hates how somebody is disrupting a football game to conduct a peaceful protest on an important issue. Great, Dabo thinks this is a great country, and like, we ended segregation and a few black people have gotten themselves out of poverty, so black people should have nothing left to complain about, right?

    • @mmiller1717
      @mmiller1717 8 лет назад

      Now, honestly, he never said that. His point was that dreams have come true in a lot of ways for black people, but no it's not perfect yet. His message, though, was that to get there we need to love each other better. That truly heals all wounds. Both sides can agree on love.
      About Kapernick.... We are at odds when it seems as though he is throwing the whole country under the bus with his disrespect of the national anthem, and thus the flag, to which it is sung. All that does is alienate those people who are dying for that flag, as attested to by the host of negative/irate feedback he has received from military and police personnel, and from people who really have no other dog in the fight other than their patriotism. If that's the way he wants to do it, then fine, but wisdom says you'd best choose a less offensive approach.

  • @aleshamoore1414
    @aleshamoore1414 8 лет назад +1

    What the hell is he talking about the protest is for nationally equality just because our president is black and we have some black people ins some very powerful places don't mean that it is equality around the world I personally feel he should've never said go to another country because the problem Americans are facing is equality and a lot of people that have that problem are minorities so what he said is this is America don't like it got back to Africa, Mexico, or wherever for people who don't see that that's the main reason this protest is still in effect...

    So Kaepernick should move to another country, that's what you're saying despite your pretense of understanding his protest. And then you have to drag your personal religious belief into the equation. Well anytime someone tries to demonstrate how holier than thou they are I immediately get suspicious. Kaepernick likely realized that the football game was the best forum to demonstrate his strong feelings about the situation. And you as well have to invoke MLK also in some pathetic attempt to show how sympathetic to the numerous unarmed blacks who've had their lives stolen by these rogue policemen. Oh hell lets just all pray it away, and I get your point since we have elected a black man twice there's no longer a problem with racial bias in the country. I'd bet a dollar to a dime Dabo Sweeney is an avid Trump supporter, but simply to gutless to admit it like a great many Trump voters.

    I was a victim of police brutality
    about 8 of them attacked, me and the black cop smashed my face in street
    until i was bloody out cold for 10 minutes, when i woke up it took 2 minutes to figure
    out where i was, then i appealed for help, and the white cop had a demonic face and
    said FU, and flipped me off
    the coach here is not to blame
    If this issue is to be discussed then the perpetrators need to be held to account
    not college football coaches
    That being said
    1. we dont have a national anthem?
    2 the issue is saving lives, The players can be clemson tigers
    and care about others at the same time
    3. 2 wrongs dont make a wrong,
    so its wrong not to say flag, and this is not an equal comparison
    one is a song, the other is people,s lives
    4. Creates more divisiveness, So standing up for oppressed people
    is bad because the oppressors get upset, gold
    5. its sad to me to see such disregard for the plight of others,
    6. Colin simply didnt sing a song and nfl reporter asked him why
    7 Go join some other group? HUUUH?

      When he talked about having a black president, a black coach, or a black CEO he was referring to the time when Martin Luther King was alive that these were just dreams at the time and now they are a reality. And at no time did he say that people should be happy because of this. I'm paraphrasing here but he also said that this is a great country but there are still problems that need to be resolved.

      The teaching of Jesus has inspired moral greatness in the likes of Martin Luther King Jr and Gandhi (he read Jesus' teaching one hour every day for 40 years). Would you ban the best moral teaching from school?
      I come from England and the government there actually invite Christians into schools to share a moral message.
      In the 1800s the National Teachers Association of America voted that the Bible be taught in US schools for moral reasons.
      Would you as an atheist be against a teaching that inspires people to do great moral acts?

    He's not against protesting. But if you think about it rationally instead of just emotionally (hard for liberals I know), it's SELFISH for a TEAM, the players on whom work really hard for a SPORT, NOT a political activity, to be helfld hostage and harmed by an individual's actions. Kaepernick is a SELFISH person, as are any kneelers who don't have the explicit (and not politically correct forced) acceptance of their teams.

Overall, you're not gonna find believers wanting to take any and all faith-based references out of the public eye.

      even if he did still he spreached Jesus and peace and love and unity and preached against sin and hate and bigotry so on. plus unlike BLM he planned his marches. on roads and bridges. but as for BLM they block highway traffic and prevented ambulance from taking a patient to hospital. and prevented people from goin to work and prevented people from goin on vacation and visiting family so on and yes are all BLM as dum as this no not at all but their is some who do these things and loot and in milwaulkee they where attacking white people out of the blue. whoever they seen walkin by they attacked. this is not MLK style of protesting. he had dreams and now though he only seen a portion of those dreams if he where to witness everything the way obama runs your country he be disappointed. and also MLK preached on to overcome the problems blacks and whites who are married to blacks and or have a black brother or sister. do you realize that any white man or women who mingled or married or where friends to blacks where called the N word and called black even though those whites who married or friends with a black man are not black yet they where considered black the N word. and many white people throughout history wilbur lincoln and john newton an ex slave trader fought against slavery. and now that we have come this far it seems to me people now wants to go back to the old ways. and many people listen to the liberals way too much. unlike trump hillary clinton failed to reach out to mexico and the blacks. and so on. like obama hillary wants thousands of immigrants illegal immigrants into this country and many isis members are using this as away to get into your country. the very actions BLM are using to protest goes against everything Martin Luther King stands for.
