Welcome to the third episode in the every-so-often series where I introduce my wife to music she's never listened to but I've loved for years. By any metric she isn't actually old, but we affectionately refer to the character that emerges upon being surprised by something as "Old Lady Kate." Given the fact that the series will probably surprise her once or twice in that way, we figured we'd just name the whole thing that.
This is the first time we're taking this show off the path of Tool (sorry Tool Army (I promise we'll be back!)), and boy howdy did I choose one that she had feelings about. I mean, it's had to tell how much of her response is to "Materialist" in particular and how much is just to Bad Religion's style in general (or even the genre writ large)... but in any case, it's a fun show.

In terms of audio, it's immediately pretty obvious that we don't have a genuine setup for videos, but I will try and get a better microphone situation at some point.

Tool of course is amazing. I’ve never been able to click with Bad Religion, but drop a McClusky or Social Distortion tune and I’m skanking all day.

I’m not giving up on OLK! Don’t know if I’ll subject her (or all y’all) to surprising her with another BR tune, but there’s definitely some fantastic lyrics and music in their catalogue. Especially after how much he she loved Otherside by the Peppers, I think this was maybe just too different (from Tool) too fast, haha

But for Bad Religion tracks try “Do What You Want” “The Flat Earth Society” “No Control”
Violent Femmes could be a bunch of fun for her to try out! Talking Heads is largely explored territory for us though. And thanks for the BR tracks! Honestly, _I’m_ not even that experienced of a listener, so I should check ‘em out!
