Perfect timing for this video. I just started 3D printing a super strat. I’m trying to determine an idea budget for electronics, hardware, and neck. The cost of the printed parts is negligible in comparison.🤷♂️
Great video, I have to agree with you on a lot of things, You always here people saying Epiphone is better than Gibson , what weird is that Opinion comes from people who have never owned the made in USA version same with Fender, Do the Squires play good yes,Do the Epiphones play good yes, But if you can afford the USA made stuff go for it, But to say they are better unless you have owned them and gigged with them you will Quickly find out the difference, By the time you change pickups and tuners and basically all the crappy electronics you could by a good used Made in the USA guitar.
I’m a simple man, if anyone asks what I paid for anything.. whether it’s a donut or car or guitar… I stop talking to them. Sometimes I do miss my wife though🙁
me too lol. most of my guitars are jacksons under 400 and i have emgs or Seymour duncans, and locking tuners "off brand". a couple of them are pretty nice. all my guitars have pickup swaps and i am always itching to do something new to them lol
I own 6 electric guitars ranging in price from 400 Canadian to 2500 Canadian dollars. I've played my middle of the road $700 BC rich or my Squier Tele when I play live. I put top of the line pickups in all my guitars but those are two guitars I feel ok spilling shots of Jager on. I have a $3k EVH amp but I prefer my 50 watt Peavey Classic 50 head live... go figure.
if it works good, makes you happy and you have fun, i dont think it matters but i can also understand being proud to own something nice and want to show it off. most of use just have guitars in the privacy of our bedrooms and no one ever sees them usually. i have the same kramer as you but with an emg 81 and a black pickup ring and cheaper locking tuners and i love it. i basically do that to all of them, pickups at least. i have like 9 or 10 guitars that purple strat is really nice!
Interestingly out of all of the guitars that I have the cheapest one and another one that was reconstructed after a fall are the ones I reach for every day. the cheap one is a $120 pawn shop Yamaha pacifica, the other one is an 89 rg770... who would have thought🤷🏼♂️
Great video! I'm not a pro, nor am I someone who NEEDS to have a name-brand guitar, although I currently own a Charvel Pro-Mod Warren DeMartini Snake, which was a gift for my 50th birthday. I find that Epiphones feel, and sometimes sound (to me), just as good as a Gibson. My son modded a Squire Classic Vibe '60s Mustang, and I'd put that against a Fender version any day of the week.
That Frankenstein is about what Eddie did... lol. With the exception of I think he made or potted his pickup or something? Good points TR. I'm going to talk more about this. I like upgrading tuners, maybe a bone nut and maybe new saddles. Did brass saddles on a tele. It was Jayce.... lol. Plug that Firefly Les Paul into a 100 watt Marshal and see what happens.
@@EdDanaGuitar Story I got is Eddie took a Gibson pickup of an ES335 and wax potted it so it wouldn’t feed back at high volume. Mine is a Duncan Design off Squier Vintage Modified. It’s already potted. 😉
Love it. I could care less if some of my guitars are budget guitars. I refuse to over-spend on something that is over-rated most of the time anyway, and it's not like I'm going on World Tour LOL. I do my thing. I'm just an OK player. Very limited. But I have a blast playing, building and modding, with all sorts of parts, bodies, becks, etc. I am obsessed with Frankenstrats. Love the one you showed! I've built a few, and have 1 actual EVH Frankie. 3 actual Wolfgangs. I'm an EVH freak. I'm about to sell or trade one of the Wolfgangs. But yeah - who cares what other people think my guitars are worth? I sure don't. LOL I just like to have fun with all this stuff. I will say I have had 4 Gibson Les Pauls over the years. 2 of them played like crap. 2 were pretty awesome. I miss one of them. And I will eventually want to have 1 actual Gibson Les Paul in my collection, but it's not about showing off how much it costs. They're just pretty awesome guitars, so long as you get a good one. But not right now. I also love MIM Fender Strats, and I have probably 4 of them. I grab them when I see a great sale on a good one. I love that Purple one! Anyway - Rock on, and Happy 2025!
So you didn't like the Firefly pickups? The only thing worse than replacing pickups in a classic vibe is doing it three times. You think I would learn.
@@AnnoyingCritic-is7rp lol Never had a Firefly but saw tons of “ pickups have to go” reviews so forming an opinion on that. Lots of haters for the Epiphone pickups too but I like mine. The Probuckers that is. Didn’t like the old ones.
Never in my entire life have I upgraded the tuners on a guitar with a locking nut. Just curious what you feel the benefit is considering the Locking nut does the heavy lifting so to speak
@@kellecetraro4807 The tuners with a locking nut only have to be passable. Generally I wouldn’t replace them but I had 2 on my Kramer Pacer Classic that were real bad. I could feel them grinding. Only use them once every great while but just hated the feel. Yeah, I only do that if they are REALLY bad. I’ve had a couple that were. The rest kept the stock machines.
I think that mooer white strat on Amazon is definitely worth $129! Good wood etc. The white one with cream pickguard hss. As long as has good frets they're workable. Easy truss setup and action. Now my Gibson les paul... your paying $$$$$ for the name and labor. Way overpriced! I been watching Amazon lately because some great guitars to be had for cheap!
They better care. If i give up two months pay for a high-end, Gibson guitar, i'm going to remind everyone how much more i spent on mine over their shitty, secondhand instrument. I will NEVER let them forget it. And everyone is going to be impressed and admire me!

@ so far it’s looking great. 3/4 of the body is complete.
A guitar that isn't made of wood. That will never shrink or expand with the temperature. I hope it works well and starts a trend.

For me, half the fun is the learning curve. Cool gear and interesting thoughts.
