We do a lot of dry stack here. Dry stack foundation, dry stack retaining walls, dry stack steps ... But this is the ultimate in dry stack. We are thinking that this knowledge can help us build a much larger moon gate.
Gorgeous! Rocks are amazing! Gotta try this at home...lol. The frame for the window is ingenious to hold everthing up while building. I always wondered how masons kept brick up as they built arches. Now I know one method.
Well we have lots of rocks but they're round. When I first moved here to the west side of the Rockies of BC the neighbor said "At Harrogate we grow rocks"! It's true, in fact the neighbor across the road has a gravel pit and same with down the road a couple km. I would like to try thisThank you for the demo!!!
Ooh, again something that I would like to try to do... No materials on my property though! :( But the log stairs.... Those I am going to build at some point. :D
I was there in the summer of 2023, my small contribution was finding the sun shade you can see at 1:03 and 1:07 - they were working in the full sun!! I went back in the summer of 2024 and it was still looking exactly the same - gorgeous.
“Dry stack” is pretty extensive in the British isle, mainly in the upper lands were stones are plentiful as free build material … know as dry stone walls, they have thousands of mile of them literally…with lots of designs built in them …
This is so beautiful it makes me want to drop everything and go play with rocks!

You can build a gate large enough for the moon to go through 🌕

No offense, but isn't it more like a Moon Window?
Fair. At the same time, this is the name of it.
@@paulwheaton It is impressive and inspirational, but the moon gates I have seen in Chinese gardens you can actually walk through.
