It’s crazy to think he chose his lightsaber. It was the perfect choice! It has clear inspiration from Qui-Gon’s while having similarities to Obi-Wan’s lightsaber in A New Hope.
He chose the right Wan.
He just lived millions of childhood dreams in this one moment alone!
He almost chose Qui-Gon's!
We need a Obi wan and Qui Gon series before TPM. With Satine, a year in Mandalore, bounty hunters, terrorists, temple sparring, space pirates, more cool local factions, judicial forces in battle, Corvette fleet battles, assassins, more senators to protect, corruption, jedi starfighter dogfights, cool chase scenes, investigations + detective style missions, brokeringc peace in planetary civil wars, Yinchorri Conflict, Stark Hyperspace War, and a mission where Qui Gon and Kenobi take down Qui Gon's apprentice who turned to the dark side and became a dark jedi who learned how to use force lightning.
@@billclark5055 I'd love that! Qui-Gon is my favorite Star Wars character; he's so underrated. He was also the first video game character I ever played as, because the first video game I ever played was Lego Star Wars!

I think he was told that he can't have that one in episode 3.
Makes sense since he needed to have a lightsaber that would match the one Obi-Wan had in A New Hope.
The lightsaber he chooses here gets lost in the first film, in the second, he uses another, and in the 3rd film, he uses one similar to the old Ben's lightsaber

I felt exactly like Ewan when choosing my lightsaber hilt replica at Galaxy’s Edge. That caught my eye and I immediately had to get it before getting Luke’s ROTJ hilt. It’s been my favorite hilt ever since.

I don't know what it is, but when people do a different accent from their natural one, often their voice goes up in pitch just a bit. I noticed the same thing when I used to be obsessed with the tv show Hannibal. Hugh Dancy's American accent was noticeably higher than his natural accent.
Its because in the movies he puts on an English accent which is higher pitched to his glaswegian accent

He's not Glasweigan. Trust me as a guy from Scotland Glasweigan is rougher than his. He's got the Scottish accent of further up North. Which is considered a lot nicer an accent. Its a lot smoother an accent. Closer to what Karen Gillan talks like but that's even further north
Two Glasgow accents if you're wondering. Still Game is entirely Glasgow an good ol Rab C Nesbitt is a much thicker old man accent that you hear from time to time

He said that initially he wanted a red lightsaber, but George wouldn't allow it for obvious reasons. They decided on purple so that the viewer could easily point out Mace Windu in that geonosis battle in the second movie.

I just love this. The way his face lights up and how excited he is, also how he holds the saber and picks one immediately, he's been waiting for this day for so long and it's really nice to see him become a big part of a franchise that he loves.

Its really cool seeing this video again now and realizing all of thse lightsaber designs eventually got used in the Canon. From closest to furthest in the case, it goes Kit Fisto's, Shakk Ti's, This next one I actually do not know, Plo Koon's, Obi-Wan's, and the Qui-Gon's. (If anyone knows that third one that I did not know, I'd love to be informed)

Oh man, I remember watching this in the special features of phantom menace on DVD. Oh the nostalgia! My little 8 year old self couldn’t get enough of this bonus content. The full video is like an hour long but surprisingly entertaining.

I own the Vader and Luke s sabers and it's so difficult to hold, how do they even fight with it
Luke's is alright, but Vader/Anakin's grip is just awful. How did Hayden manage to be so badass with that grip?
@@Paulafan5Yeah Both are bit clunky however I find Anakins pre vader handle is only a bit clunky towards the bottom but nowhere near as clunky as vaders original design, vader has a lot more aesthetic design all over while anakin's is a bit cleaner towards the middle and top but they still look both lol pretty cool and are nice collection pieces to have

He chose the PERFECT lightsaber. It looks like a younger more stylish derivation of Qui-Gon's do to black grip and the relatively simple straight design, while also looking like predecessor to his saber in A New Hope because of the pommel.
This is my favorite lightsaber in all of Star Wars. I gotta pick up replica one of these days.
I've been obsessed with lightsaber hilts since I was like, 4, so I also noticed the similarities between this one and Alec's (mainly in the pommel). I used to think they designed it specifically for Ewan until I learned Ewan picked the hilt himself.
