Hope you guys are digging these short review type videos. Let me know what we should do next. :) I have tons of tools. Some awesome some not. Haha maybe I can save ya money by only buying good stuff
Excellent video. Thanks for all of the great content on your channel. The Mk4 videos have been super helpful, and look forward to the R32 updates.- - 1999 mk4 AEG 5spd.
Another way to have the smallest solution is the E-Z Red 412SS ratchet set. There is a bit driver on the other end of the ratchet and the complete length with the bit installed is just under 25 mm.
Great, going to Amazon to buy more tools...yes, I have their triple squares too, good enough for the casual use they get. Better to have the tool and not need it than to need it and not have it. Just finished a front end refresh on a mk4 GTI and I could have used the t40 for the tie-rod ends...instead, I had to rig a bit, 1/4" socket and ratchet combo. The bit kept falling out of the socket and this kit or similar would have made life that much easier. Oh, almost forgot, this would have been excellent on the 30 fender-liner screws.
I mean I'd rather one or two types of fasteners vs one of every type on Earth in random sizes aka Ford, Chevy and Chrysler, Yota, honda etc. bloody hated it - was like "oooh boy time to play fastener jeopardy"
@Robert LeBlanc just look at the two. The stubbys are special made from one piece while the normal ones are a standard bit pressed in a 1/4 hex socket. These last two are made by the billions so they are dirt cheap.
Got these from the tool truck. Great set even if you don't work on German vehicles and lifetime warranty. Had them for several years now. store.snapon.com/Combination-Bit-Socket-Sets-Blue-Point-174--Set-Stubby-Bit-Sockets-1-4-drive-40-pc-Blue-Point--P648199.aspx
Yes they were very good I have gotten several different brands the last one I got had triple squat from 4.5-8. Tamper and normal 6-45 T and had slot and Phillips from Blue point and AST. I have used it for the intake runner flap adjuster on the 2.0 engine but found my home made tool was still better. What is sad is when you find a great money maker tool but change brands and never use it again. That happens moving from Audi to Volkswagen a $80 tool saved me many many hours but now it just rusts in the box unused for 7 years. Sadly the tool is no longer made anymore
Snapon sells a blue point set that has the same design in torx , Allen metric and SAE , triple square , Philips head 1 and 2 , flat head also. Part # is “ BLPBSS40 “ great kit 👍 I used mine today .
What up HumbleMechanic I’d like to see a video you talking about code P0016, I got this code on my MK5 GTI, I just replaced the Camshaft Position Sensor and everything is ok right now, but sometimes it takes long cranks to star the car. Thank you and God Bless You Always!!
I love these sockets! Own 2 sets. Life saver, especially on VW/Audi’s, VIM is great. They fit great and I’ve yet to break one. Their triple squares are awesome. Only socket I’ve ever broken of theirs is the small 6mm on VW sway bar links.
Vim makes a 1/4" drive master bit set in chrome and an impact rated (cr-mo) 3/8" drive master bit set as well. They also make a low profile ratchet and bit set with shortened bits (5/8" instead of the normal 1" length)
I have the Mac equivalent..but back in the day (way back)I resorted to grinding down a regular size torks.not my finest hour but it got the job done. Lovin the tool reviews. However the wife rolls her eyes😂
Nice. I just received these in the mail a few days ago. I was hesitant to buy them to add to my VIM 3/8” impact series sockets because I wasn’t sure how much smaller they were from VIM’s website. They’re tiny! Exactly what I was hoping for and have the 1/4” XZN and metric hex on the way.
Bought this set.First test was a 93 f250 that had been sitting for a while, it broke it lose with just a hand ratchet. Thanks for the recommendation and more videos on tools would be greatly appreciated
i work in a body shop at a chevy dealer and this kit has more than served me well. i’ve had it close to two years and it’s paid itself off 10 times over. most chevy cars and trucks use t15 or 20 screws to hold in the liners and those sockets allow you to take out the screws without removing the wheel. worth the buy! also have the triple square and metric and standard hex sockets by vim
i took me full week to find T50 ... yes i need it to replace my VW LOCKing latch -_- It Was not funy to find it in 1st place ... thanks for links il buy one soon
Those kick butt. They sell allen head ones just like it as well as triple squares, and some other stuff. The set i own is from bluepoint i bought from a pawnshop but they're basically identical.
Perfect! Thank You Charles. Huge smiles. Just treated myself to a new 1/4" drive Cordless Ratchet. Ah yes, German Cars. 2 BMW's, a Mercedes and now the Volkswagen...... O' my.
Little off topic with this video, sorry but i figured you are the best person to ask for this. Are you going to do a review of ECS's new Intake Manifold lever arm kit (for P2015) which releases on August 3rd. My 2012 GLI has this problem where the arm pops out of place and i have to put it back in or my car will rev up. sucks because mines a manual so it makes changing gears super hard. Sucks because i bought the car and a month later it went out.
Also on a side note, i can't find anything online but the thing i really hate about this car is that when you change the temperature (climate control) it changes the fan speed so i have to reset my fan speed. Is there anyway to disable this so when i change the car temperature, the fan speed stays the same? Thanks!
I just payed $250 for an 01 Passat GLS 2.8 v6 5 speed, 145k, knowing it had a failing timing belt tensioner and possible bent valves. Tossed a kit i had laying around for our other B5 Passat in, hit the key and preyed . Runs perfect. Needs minor work. The point of this story was the fact that i missed completely, we have 5 B5s in various configs in our salvage yard. Also, Take a chance. $250 wasnt to much if it was hurt. Our other is currently at 210k miles and runs just a good, but needs front work.
Hope you guys are digging these short review type videos. Let me know what we should do next. :)
I have tons of tools. Some awesome some not. Haha maybe I can save ya money by only buying good stuff
Man there sure is. I wish I’d have kept more of them. I usually got frustrated and tossed the junk out 😂
Awesome job! Thanks so much for the support! Love the video!
Excellent video. Thanks for all of the great content on your channel. The Mk4 videos have been super helpful, and look forward to the R32 updates.- - 1999 mk4 AEG 5spd.
Hey man love the videos! Matco makes a stubby 1/4 that is even smaller than the VIM and sets you back about 15 bucks.
Another way to have the smallest solution is the E-Z Red 412SS ratchet set. There is a bit driver on the other end of the ratchet and the complete length with the bit installed is just under 25 mm.
Lol, old jeeps use so much toques
A 15mm socket and an extension?!...I knew there was a reason I watch your vids.

Nice to see there is a T27 in there. Some kits omit this size for some reason, as common as it is.
Liking the short take videos....
Triple Square everywhere....
VW .....the peoples problem
Still love my GTI...
Hahaha the People’s Problem 😂
I mean I'd rather one or two types of fasteners vs one of every type on Earth in random sizes aka Ford, Chevy and Chrysler, Yota, honda etc. bloody hated it - was like "oooh boy time to play fastener jeopardy"
Nice Tools 👍🏻 VIM rocks!!
I drive a 2006 Jetta and plan on keeping it so i need these LOL!!! Good lookin out my friend. Love the channel.
I think Matco makes an even stubbier one. But I keep hearing good things about VIM tools, time to buy some
@Robert LeBlanc just look at the two. The stubbys are special made from one piece while the normal ones are a standard bit pressed in a 1/4 hex socket. These last two are made by the billions so they are dirt cheap.
Have you tried the mayhew ones
Got the same set when I worked at Audi, and still use it every day now that I work in the aftermarket world
Love them
Love VIM and that set has come in soo handy!
Truth!!!
Short and sweet! VIM makes some solid torx and triple square sockets, thanks for sharing!
Bought a lots of tools while I was working on diesel fuel injection equipment.3 sided ve pump sockets. Even have a 5 point tamperproof torx bit set.

Nice!!!
I have spent so much on the special tools on VW cars it has locked me in to the brand. These look great.
Hahaha. I know the feels.
What is show are bits not sockets.
No, thank you for sharing...gues what I'm ordering next time I'm on Amazon 😉
Mark Hetzer blue point kit # BLPBSS40

How often do you break security torx?
Can you use security torx on normal torx headed bolts apply the same amount of torque with out them breaking?
Bought this set.First test was a 93 f250 that had been sitting for a while, it broke it lose with just a hand ratchet. Thanks for the recommendation and more videos on tools would be greatly appreciated

Sometimes 10mm makes all the difference in the world... That's what she said...😎
Those could be a nice option, thanks for the information Charles.
Sunex micro ratchet set is perfect for any euro abs module removal and install on euros without removing a bunch of stuff 😎
wish I'd known about these years ago when i regularly needed a t30 and payed heaps for a stahlwille bit that's not as stubby
Have the same set love these they work awesome along with the stubby 1/4 hex bits to. Boss got jealous and had me order him a set from amazon as well
I need these but in Philips(screwdriver bits) know where can I get some??
Tekton impact rated torx set was my route $10-$15
Do you have a link to the ratchet you are using to take off the mk5 rear carrier bolts?
It’s a Craftsman ratchet, let me see if I can find it.
HumbleMechanic could you even email me a picture of it?
I can search the internet then for one, if you would not mind
Man I wish I had known about this before. Great video.
Germany's gift to the world is hex and torx.
I've heard MAC is the parent company of VIM
They have some type of relationship with Matco I think. Not 100% sure their relationship
HumbleMechanic BTW MATCO is an acronym for Mac and allied tool corporation in other words MATCO was bourn out of a corporate breakup.
As for the tool video what can I use to take off the CPS on an BEW engine ?? 9 mm to small 10 mm to big Im stuck. Thanks
Maybe a 9.5?
Perfect! Thank You Charles. Huge smiles. Just treated myself to a new 1/4" drive Cordless Ratchet. Ah yes, German Cars. 2 BMW's, a Mercedes and now the Volkswagen...... O' my.
Nice!!!!
Good post sir, to the point and nice tools

T500? That sucker must be huge. I'm so glad you did this, I was about to buy a blue point stubby t45. 👍👍
Lol ;) probably need to fix that
Boeing have started using torx now?!?
Thank you.
I’m not sure why stubby tools cost more than standard ones. They use less material so I would think they cost less to make. 🤔
Yeah but the creation process is similar and the tooling to make them probably cost the same.
Plus the most likely produce less than standard sizing
Selling 10 items vs selling 1
Any mk5 gti videos coming soon?
Yep. Might have some time to start editing tomorrow so hopefully next week
That feel when there aren't any if your car in the salvage yard 😭
Yep. Happens to me a lot. Haha
