Best to clarify between "broken" as in broken promises of pre-neoliberal capitalism, and saying capitalism is broken; because this is EXACTLY where I think most Marxists and possibly many 'leftists' would say capitalism, unfettered laissez-faire end stage capitalism is inevitably meant to be. Not a criticism of Naomi Klein though or disagreement with anything she's speaking to.

Very pointed comment that is deliberately omitted from mainstream media narratives. Capital concentration, and therefore socioeconomic injustice and worker exploitation, is the whole point of capitalism. It is the end game objective from the start. Eventually capitalists will always dismantle whatever social safety nets and regulatory structures stand in the way of their profits. This means the problem is fundamentally the capitalist economic system, rather than what liberals purport it to be. They purport it is just extreme capitalism that is the problem, not the system itself.
This ultimately all boils down to who controls the profits that workers produce and what those profits are used for. Well, the profits of a corporation should be owned by its workers. Profits should be used to enrich the many, not the few. But this is a revolutionary statement. Because at the end of the day this can only be achieved by transferring capital ownership from bosses and landlords to workers and renters.

I find great comfort in the great pool of disaffected former right and former left who find themselves making common cause with those in the middle. Call them radical if you like but they aren’t. They are the huge wall of rage created by the corruption and self absorption of both right and left who have been exposed as a single entity

This must be the apex of Trump derangement syndrome. The entire edifice of the American neoliberal establishment from both sides of the aisle is rallying to eliminate him, he has no allies, other than his infamous 'deplorables' and a handful of goofball congressmen, and he'll probably be in prison before he's ever president again. I didn't know Steve Bannon was even relevant anymore, but apparently he's still this sinister global reactionary force to be feared and loathed, and most importantly eliminated.
I used to sort of look up to Naomi Klein, and I read The Shock Doctrine. She is totally unrecognizable now. And writes bizarre books like 'Doppleganger'. And to my eyes, now revealed as the unmistakable grifter and quintessential liberal parasite she presumably always was.

It's conversations like this why I (a former liberal) now feel politically homeless. Klein needs to stop obsessing over us and join us. And stop being so mean spirited.

He is not. He has no plan. Using 23 million dollars in her smear campaign, this housing plan, the only tangible thing he came up with, ended up in HMO hells like the USA or Druge Tofu concrete like China. Still, he wanted to incentivize building unaffordable homes on the green belt so everyone gets kickbacks from the CEO of the housing corporation. We already know that 23 million of estate and 10 million of real estate means he supports real-estate investment, hence pulling into the housing bubble hyped by outside insiders. Where else do we have it? In the global south, the expat diaspora keeps buying housing, making it unaffordable for those living there.
